2016 NFL Draft RB Thread

RB is an underrated need. Forsett imo is the product of a good oline(he'd really excell in Dallas, and if we lose next week I hope we start selling high and trade him for drafts picks).

So who's your favorite. Not talking Ezekil Elliot(whom I like), and Derrick Henry(whom I don't like).

I'm digging Devontae Booker. He's got talent as both a runner and a reciever. I'm also all for moving DJ Foster back to RB where I think he's a better fit.

I like Booker, pretty good back from what I saw last year

I'd like Foster here depending on where we could get him. Not sure if I'd rely on him as a pure RB, but he's a playmaker, something this offense will desperately need without Steve. Edited by ravefan52

No need for a running back. Allen looks good. Our offense refuses I play him. Almost every time he runs he gets a bug gain 7+ yard.

Ezekil Elliot: Probably the best of the bunch in what honestly is a solid but unspectacular RB class. I don't think we'd draft him in the first but we swoop him up in the second.

Pros: The open field ability is very good. Not as good as say Melvin Gordon III, but his ability there is good, Once he gets into open space he can make a lot of people miss. It will not translate into open field gains, but on a critical third down when he's a reciever in the backfield, he'll make a play. Appears to have good hands, and appears to have solid vision. More than capable pass protector and very willing.

Cons: Well. No elite speed nor athletic ability. Good speed not great. Benefits heavily from what appers to be a good oline(granted which RB doesn't). He looks like he might have fumble issues and his vision is mediocre. Not great.

Overall: I like him, but don't love him. I think he's overhyped in a sense but a good football player. I would take him in the second round.

I really would love to have Elliott but this OL needs to be fixed first. If the OL starts to play better then I'm all for it if he's BPA (i.e. Ramsey, Bosa, and others are off the board).

I need to look at the RB class closer. I usually scout positions I feel we need the most during this time of year.

My favorite by far is Kenneth Dixon from La Tech, runs super hard and has good speed, not to mention his vision is insane

WARNING: song may have bad language, idk I watched it on mute

they're highlights so have your grain of salt ready...but still very mpressive

I only want a RB in the first 1st if we really believe he will be elite. Gurley was that for me last year and Fournette looks to be that next year. Don't think I seen one this year though.

I really like Notre Dame's RB, CJ Prosise. He's strong, surprisingly quick, and has decent hands. He seems a perfect fit for what Trestman wants in a runningback.

No need to waste a pick on a rb...were good there. Between forsett, Buck Allen, tali, west and mostert were actually in very good shape. Will be interesting to see who gets the third spot between tali west and mostert though. Depends a lot on how west looks in these final 6 games. If an Elliot falls right into our lap yeah maybe- but our picks are better spent in other areas, would be unwise to draft a rb early.

I would love to get an extra first for next years draft and take Fournette. Could you imagine an offense with Joe, Perriman, Boyd, and Fournette? I can't even.

If we made it to the playoffs with these weapons, goodness....

Especially if we can get one of the LTs in the first. You can see why I'm not too stressed about what we do defensively if we do the right offensive stuff. That group should be a top-five rushing unit or a top-10 passing unit. Hell, maybe even both.

Yeah, Tunsil and Fournette would really provide something great for this offense. I'm in the mind-set that we should build an elite offense, and attempt to build a good defense. I think an elite offense wins now in the NFL.

I am really intrigued by DJ Foster. I think a creative mind like Trestman could really use him in a way to find mismatches, especially in no-huddle situations. I would love to use Foster on the goal line /w our 3 TEs and Juice: Show a heavy formation 1st and goal; no huddle into an empty backfield on 2nd and goal while they have their run-stop unit out. Just have to find the mismatch.

Booker looks like a better balance between genuine RB and pass-catcher. The only thing that bothers me is that he was a total workhorse /w Utah. He looks like a good RB though, and a good compliment to our more powerful runners in Taliaferro and Buck Allen.

However, I don't think we really need another RB. 3 is enough. Forsett doesn't need to be cut--he's on a cheap deal.

I'm salivating on myself at the mere thought.

RB is not a need forsett buck allen Lt and west

True, but I wouldn't be upset to spend a mid or late round pick on one if they're the best player available. If nothing else, they could be a good special teams player and step in if LT gets hurt and West continues to underachieve.

Not a huge fan of Henry as a prospect, but wow this is impressive. That's Shilique Calhoun, all 6'5 250 lbs of him.

The idea of possibly drafting either Fournette or McCaffery next year intrigues me almost too much to spend a high pick on one this year. Unless Elliott is plummeting, I think we just run with what we have and address it next year. Forsett, Allen, LT/West is still a pretty strong RB core without a rookie.

Unless we have another year like we're having now (shudders) I'd be staggered if we were in range for Fournette or McCaffery - unless scouts' concerns about McCaffery prove legit. FSU Criminole Dalvin Cook could be an interesting one - he's an electric runner and receiver but he faced some battery charges after allegedly punching a woman but he got cleared, so your take on that flag would depend on how much you trust the legal system (in Florida no less).

I agree there isn't a really pressing need to take another RB since we have pretty good depth atm. I think a franchise RB can push a good running game over the top, but atm I think Elliott's the only guy this year who fits that bill. He'd be very hard to argue with in the second.

If we trade down and take someone's first rounder in 2017, and that team bombs, we'll be set up pretty good. And either Fournette or McCaffrey would be crazy. Especially McCaffrey. All he does is win, in the run, pass, and return game.
