[News] Steve Smith After Monster Day: 'Losing Pisses Me Off'

40 posts in this topic

Steve is an Amazing raven. He's humble, relentless and doesn't go down on the team like another one of our offensive leaders did today. Very Inspiring effort

I think it needs to piss more people off than just SSS. Every player on that field needs to be pissed and start going out and playing pissed.

Steve Smith Sr. was one of the few, if not the only player who truly embodied "Playing Like a Raven" during the game. Thank you Steve for all your hard work and effort on every single play. This fan base couldn't be more proud to call you a Raven

Steve: You think you're pissed off?? I gotta whole City here who is pissed off that You bust your butt, get the points on the board, then we watch our defense standing around like statues in a Prevent Zone, while DB Red and co. Throw 3 passes and get in the endzone like it was nothing. And yet, we keep seeing this same movie over and over.....well, we are sick of it, Pees has to go

Feel like Harbaugh needs to give Flacco the Rudy speech. "If you had a tenth of the heart Smith has we'd be 3-0 right now". But Joebot will undoubtedly be in his emotionless, aloof, "we have to do better" mode.

When times get tough, there is a huge difference between guys like SSS who become great players, guys who rise to the occasion versus those who succumb to their lack of confidence, nerves or desire to attain excellence. SSS has the killer instinct and desire to win. It is evident to every fan that SSS has what every player should strive for, guts and heart. SSS has the burning desire to win and his success is enhanced because of it. Is SSS a rare talent? Yes. But what makes him a legend is performances like today, great ability which is multiplied x 10 by his desire. If every player on this squad strove to adopt a similar mentality to transform their frustration in to a SSS-like determination and not permit themselves to be defeated mentally by adversity, they can dig themselves out of this hole. No better response to losing than being pissed off about it. Now these players need to kick themselves in the rear and try to emulate SSS's determination as a team, to use every ounce of frustration, energy and willpower to win. If so, wins will follow. If not, it's going to be 1 long, dreary, losing season. It can be done but this battlefield mentality needs to start now. The Ravens cannot afford to succumb to a defeatist attitude, which can erode in to a losing culture after spending a decade or 2 building a winning culture. Everybody should be pissed and play like it.

If Smith Sr. is the only one doing what he is doing then what are the other WR's doing nothing, you got rid of people and chose other people who are not producing that makes no sense whatsoever. We've got Perriman but he got hurt in preseason, how is he going to play in regular season when only 1st string play unless they get hurt???

They are really going to waste SS Sr.'s last year with this putrid excuse for play. Nonexistent WR corps (outside of SSS), horrible OL, basically 7 on 11 defensive play since the secondary is a dumpster fire and our only hope of winning keeps throwing off his back foot.

How do you make a team one-dimensional and still cannot cover their MAIN WEAPON?? How is that even possible?? They had no running game and were forced to throw and we still could not cover AJ Green. This is hilarious to me. First 0-3 start in team history and we let the chokers of AFC North do it to us at home. This is embarrassing.

We just haven't been putting enough talent on the field. An our coaching an game planning has been horrible. We cant make adjustments during games to save our lives. Every yr we shouldn't be dealing with same things.

We need to win the next 5 straight going into the bye week bah humbug, fire someone for signing 2 defensive guys and not playing either one. What did Babin need to know other than rush the passer every down you're on the field. Steve Smith is a monster locked inside a Ravens cage.

I can't imagine how hard it is to be the only one seems to care and put 100% effort into every single play and for the team to not back you up and loose. I really feel for him.

As bad as Pees is, when guys simply don't execute there's not much you can do. He didn't get the dumb penalties in crucial situations, he didn't fail to help Jimmy cover Greene, he didn't get turned around and stumble when covering guys, he didn't fail to turn around and track the ball while it was in the air to knock it down or intercept it. Think about, how much is Pees and how much is the defense just failing to execute and cover.

I am posting for my 12 year old son since his post did not show up. The Ravens had an amazing comeback thanks to Steve Smith. Unfortunate that Flacco didn't throw to him in the final moments since he probably would have secured a win. My son met Smith last year with his old University of Utah coach and had the opportunity to experience his passion and fire firsthand. Regardless of the outcome and what happens this year, Steve owned this game and with Suggs out, we hope all of the Ravens can channel his inspiring energy to be the team we all know they can be.

I said it before "ABORT" the run! It's slowing the Ravens down! Red me up but it's true and if Joe can't handle it then "Next man up"

Steelers game on Thursday. I know 2 things for Damn sure... I better see BABIN active and playing Thursday for Pass rush reasons specifically. Second Perriman better be active and playing even as a Decoy and couple packages...he did practice last week. ITS EMERGENCY! NOW OR NEVER TIME!!! No resting players... Put the best players on the field. Babin and Perriman better be playing

Dog breath smelled better than that game today. Those dogs stank the place up and deserve to be whipped after that show. There were only a handful of players on the field today that actually played the game of football. The rest were worn out losers.

Joe isn't cutting it any more and to keep blaming other players is getting old! Count the INTs going back to the pats game! Bring facts instead of the red button!
