[News] Ravens 'Soul Searching' After 0-3 Start

84 posts in this topic

We won the 2nd half and lost the game. With the best set of circumstances in place...our first home game against a hated division rival in a must win situation...and we were unprepared to start the game well. This is a coaching problem. The mirror is going to be a busy place this week.

Soul searching meaning... Talent searching? Chemistry searching? Defensive scheme searching? Whatever we are going to do we have to do fast. Time is ticking. The season is still young and definitely salvageable, but December will be here before we know it.

i think searching for the #1 pick in the 2016 draft.  think that's probably the best route at this point..  it would take a miracle for this team to have an above .500 record in it's current state.  my fear is that in his attempt to circumvent the years after the 2000 SB win, ozzie has inadvertantly caused them to return.  which means it's gonna be a long 4-7 years of rebuilding before this team returns to a position of any kind of real strength.  if the team invests heavily in the defense in 2016 (in the draft), frees up as much cap space as possible, and picks up a few WR's in FA (because the worst thing baltimore could ever do is draft a WR..  every one so far has been mediocre-bad) the damage control may be enough to show a possible return in 2016.  as far as i am concerned, 2015 is already in the books..  and as much as i would love to see this team i root for win.  at this time i think a very bad season may be for the best in the long run.

The blueprint in each game is the same.....the other team takes a lead, the Ravens fight back to go ahead, then the other team scores the game winning points and the Ravens offense can't react.

Vanilla defensive play calling is our problem. I noticed when we play man coverage we were a lot more successful Pees has to go now. Our players don't believe in the defensive scheme that's why there are big holes in the coverage. This has been a problem for years now but without a dominate pass rush now Pees is getting exposed.

Be very scared! It will take years to fix this defense and by the Ravens will be looking for another QB and or oline.

Why is everyone mad at Trestman, just like last week we scored enough points to win...Its the dot damn defense that can't get a stop.

We get off to slow starts and score 0 points in the first half, stall drives with either predictable or ridiculous play calling, and wear out our defense with too many three and outs. When you throw a bomb down the field on third down when you only need three yards for the first down. Yeah, we get mad at Trestman!!! Gilmore has been a beast. He averaged 13.3 yards a catch today and did not drop one pass, but we only targeted him three times. So yeah, we get mad at Trestman!!!

Ravens front office need to look at their mistakes. They ignored the WR and CB position in the draft for years and relied on undrafted guys and cheap vets to carry the load. They kept the nice guys and let the vocal and emotional leaders walk out the door.

Heeeeeey!  Shhhhh!  Don't use those words in here.  You know, "vocal" and "emotional".  Some cats in here feel as though those things are obsolete and has no place in a full contact or aggressive sport like football and that these players should be self-motivated with out that stuff cause they are pro atheletes.  So, shhhhhh!  Smh!

Of course I said that sarcastically!

Three heartbreaking loss for both the team an fans. Better start looking at that draft board because its gonna be an early pick this year if they don't find a way to win the close ones.

Deja vu...the first game of the season last year, Cincy up 14-0 at halftime. Ravens make a valiant comback, falls short. Fast forward to 2015 and the exact same scenario with the same result. It would be funny if it wasnt so pathetic.

Well the last few years the moves our front office has made have been questionable. (Drafting Matt Elam instead of offensive talent or a corner) I wish we would've kept Corey graham but o well. Hiring dean pees for def coordinate was a bad move, certain def coordinators have a certain swag( pagano, Ryan an terrell Austin who we didn't promote). Flacco is a qb that needs weapons around him to make him look good. He's not one to make average wr look good. The front office needs to put multiple weapons with flacco an not just wr at the end of there career all the time. Yes we drafted perriman but it took them forever to draft a top tier wr. I do like our defense for the most part but I also thought we still needed to add a pass rusher before Suggs went down because of there age. I know we're up against the cap every year but we should've drafted or picked up another playmaker at the wr position. Next yr flacco needs to redo his deal an it should be team friendly because he's not showing he's worth all that money by the way he's playing.

The wins will come and hopefully before too much time passes. The past three games have been gut busters for fans but just imagine how the players feel. All their hard Work for naught. Next game up guys. Go Ravens.

I've grown to care for the players, but frankly, I could care less about them feeling "bad" when they lose.  Sure, most of them probably work hard in practice and during games and I respect/appreciate that.  But when you're getting paid millions to get the job done, and you don't, you "should" feel bad...  Imagine if we "average Joe's" constantly messed up on our 9-to-5?  We'd get shown to the door...

So, I don't take any pity on this team (the players nor the coaches).  DO YOUR JOB!!!!

And this dumb cherade that Harbs has about not knowing any details about Perriman is getting old. I mean it's only your first round pick in a year where you started 0-3. Coach, you think maybe it's time you took a stroll down to the trainers room to ask some questions? Cmon man!

Totally agree! You're the head coach, what do you mean they don't tell you anything? Bull!

The defensive breakdowns in the 4th quarter of every game are unforgivable. The offense failing to show up in the 1st half of every game is unforgivable.

Is it possible for this team to play well for 4 quarters??? I really don't know.

I don't remember who said it here on one of these blogs just before the season started. It went something like this: predicting good things for the Ravens prior to the season is like the kiss of death. Looking back that was a prophetic pronouncement.

Our secondary needs better coaching, better chemistry and most of all they have to cover the receivers. Where is their talent? Yesterday, WR's just blew right through them time and again. Until these guys begin to work in unison and play the ball they are going to be the Achilles heel of this team. We are looking at a disappointing season until this group can show some ability. I just can't see how anyone could say that the Ravens are a SB team before they even began the season.

As for Harbs looking totally pissed off, he should be. He isn't doing his job either. Quit accepting the BS that your staff is handing you. These guys are just as complacent as the players that don't play like a RAVEN. That list is getting way to big. Get the dead beats off of the bench an on to the street. Quit taking the other teams discards. If they can't cut it with the losing teams in the league, why should we think otherwise?
