[News] Game Recap: Bengals 28, Ravens 24

201 posts in this topic

We need to play offense for 60 minutes. We were doing too many short passes and runs in the 1st half that amounted to nothing, especially with the Tucker missed FG. Once we started going DOWNFIELD more, which is our recipe for success in Baltimore, then we were gaining yards. Cincy. was not letting us run the ball and so we had to cut back on that. Flacco is a thrower and needs to take 10 yard shots. He's good at that, when he's not throwing all the way across the field.

I thought we had a chance on that bomb at the very end, but I guess it wasn't to be.

We need to be more aggressive throwing the ball to be successful. I believe it's our only chance to win games this year. I'll settle for 1 right now!

Reason we can't run is that teams can stack the box against the run because we have no one who can stretch the field except sss. He is a beast but cannot do it all himself. I was very impressed with juice and our young tight ends. I would love to see. Two tight end sets with sss or camp outside with juice and a running back. We could power rush or get juice and the tight ends in the game. Crocket is a beast to take down. Wish we would get him more involved.

Where did Gilmore disappear to? The ONLY reason Gilmore should not be targeted for multiple plays on the offense is if he is injured. I heard no reports of an injury. Crockett Gilmore is the brightest prospect to be targeted beyond SSS. To just drop him from the game plan and/or stick him on special teams is nothing short of madness to me. Gilmore is an important key to our success, now and in the future.

The head coach of all three of the teams we lost to were ex Raven coaches. Them along with Rex, Pagano, and Caldwell (all ex Raven coaches and now head coaches elsewhere) have taken there toll. Our defensive cord should resign as soon as a replacement is available. Same goes to the secondary coach. If we didn't have any defensive players on the field...it may have taken the Bengals longer to score. Not once but twice, to close the game. Shameful...the coaching, shameful. How are the Ravens going to drag themselves to Pittsburgh Thursday. It's not going to be easy. This is a new one for us, and quite unexpected. Tomorrow is another day. Go Ravens!!

You pay a player to be productive and make plays, Joe has had the opportunity to win all 3 games at the end of the game and has failed all 3 times. Defense sucks for sure but to have 3 touches to win and not produce is killer for a guy that's making the big bucks.

Note, when we're close to the endzone and throwing, we should throw it IN THE ENDZONE, not 1 or 2 yards short, which they gladly gave us! That yard meant a FG and another gut-wrenching loss. Put it in the endzone and give the receiver a chance. I disagree with throwing it a yard or 2 short of the goal line there. This is a game of yards and sometimes a FG means a loss. Even if Tucker makes that FG in the 1st quarter, we'd still have lost the game. No more FG's when the other team is making touchdowns. On the 4th down TD, I have to give credit to coach Harbaugh. Without that display of courage and risk, we'd have lost by even more, most likely. So the coaches were giving the players a chance to win on that play and touchdown. The players did not keep their end of the deal, with all of those penalties. We actually did PENALIZE OURSELVES out of the game!!

I saw this coming, as did other observing fans, through the preseason games. Even though our bloggers and in house sportwriters were giving us a green light to the SB. So are we really surprised. We played sloppy with no 2nd 3rd string backups. Outside of SSS, our WR's are below average. We gave up on Torry Smith, and Boldin is long gone and look at us now. Our running game is nowhere. When Flacco has to throw 49 times it shows. Sit back and brace for a long, sad season.

Now I know why Jimmy Smith does not play press coverage...it's because he can't. He was in position to play press coverage several times and each time gave A.J. Green a free release off the line. I mean he whiffed...badly!

Dean Pees should still be fired! Why you may ask? How does Kendrick Lewis find himself covering A.J. Green off the line of scrimmage? How does that happen when on the other side of the field Webb is apparently covering no one at all. Fire Costello too! How does KO end up having to block two rushers? How does he not know who he has and who is his help. Was there help there to be had? Why did Joe not recognize the blitz? Also we can't run the ball at all. And, someone tell Foresett to grow some eggs. On that one running play he cut back to the left when he should have kept running to the outside towards the right. He cut it back to the left because of the defender shadowing him on the other side of the block. Hey Foresett that was your man to beat. You don't cut back inside! You take him on!

Why did Joe throw that final ball? It was not what we needed. That was a reach. What made it worse was Tasker on the replay was circling WRs that were wide open and that had Joe thrown to them would have gotten us the 1st down. How many "nervous" throws is Joe going to make this year. That short armed throw to S. Smith was ridiculous as was the intentional grounding. Stop blaming the WR. We don't need all star WR. At most we need guys who can find the whole in a zone and a quarterback who can get them the ball. You can't tell me these guys can't find the wholes. I just don't believe it. Joe focuses in on one or two WR he always has and always will. He has never been a QB that spread the ball around.

I can't believe what I'm hearing, Harbaugh goes to playoffs 6 of 7 years, wins a SB, then we go 0-3 for the first time ever and all of a sudden we need to clean house, he's not the coach for this team. Are you freaking kidding me, teams would kill to have a coach like him. The problem is he is so good that he has spoiled us and now that we get a taste of defeat and hardship we don't know how to handle it so we blame Harbs, if that's how you truly feel I will pay for you to see a psychiatrist because you need help.

The entire team needs to improve. The losses cannot just be put on a single coach, coordinator or player.

The Ravens are much better than 0 and 3!

With just over three-quarters of the season left there is still is plenty of opportunity to capture the division.

I think we can stop with the jimmy smith shutdown corner talk. He's decent, thats it. Webb isn't the corner he used to be he's on his last legs.

Don't get why all these people are putting it on Pee's. He had a good mix of pressure and coverage. He had our guys in position they were just losing their one on one battles. We lived in the backfield, had ints bouncing off our hands, and every long pass we were beat with had a Raven running behind trying to catch up to miss the tackle. Not to mention Dalton looking like '02 Vick making us miss.

I'm not a fan of finger-pointing, but somebody needs to be held accountable for this. The Ravens going 0-3 is unheard of (this is the first time it has happened in franchise history, I believe). The problem is the defense, and while we could still use an improved secondary, it isn't the players' faults. It's Dean Pees' defensive system, which is asinine and completely counter-intuitive. I'm hoping that he is fired and replaced by tomorrow morning. Whether this happens or not will make no difference, however, since the defensive system will remain in tact until next season. As much as I would like to believe in the Ravens, I don't think it's possible for them to make the playoffs this year. Maybe if they get a high draft pick, they can do well next year...

If Derek Carr could throw for records against us, Michael Vick can beat our defense, I even think Caleb Rowe could beat our defense.

You're 100% right. Harb's has spoiled the Organization and fan base. Harb's could have multiple losing seasons (consecutive or not) and I still would not call for his head.

He's not even decent.

"On The Horizon

The Ravens will head to Pittsburgh on a short week to take on the 3-1 Steelers in a pivotal AFC North matchup against their arch rivals Thursday night."

How can the Steelers be 3-1 if they have only played 3 games?! Well no one ever accused the Ravens PR staff of being on top of things -- or unbiased for that matter.

Hmmm, maybe we shoulda kept Tyrod Taylor!?!? IJS

That's what I said and got internet jumped. I bet by the end of the year he has more wins, yards, comp %, rating, and TDs than Flacco. Not to mention the added dimension of his mobility that keeps Ds off balance. Would help out on the 2 point conversions also. Locker room up there loves this guy too, a VOCAL leader.

Jimmy Smith got torched by a rookie last week and by one of the best in the game this week. If Ben plays next week can't wait to see how many yards he gives up to A. Brown. J. Smith is not a shutdown corner and is not even a decent corner at this point in the season. In those plays in which he was burned by Green, J. Smith was barely in the screen shot. Think about that before you even consider calling J. Smith a decent corner.

People were saying the same thing less than 2 months before we won SB XLVII.
