The good, bad and ugly vs Bengals

757 posts in this topic

Now we are seeing the effects of BAD 1st and 2nd Round DRAFT PICKS, going back to Kindle. It forces us to pay bums from other teams, and not have money left for signing our own home grown talent like Torrey, McPhee, Haloti, and other good pickups like Boldin. Then we think a Prevent Defense is a good D. Gonna lose one of the few impact players we have left at seasons end, SSS, very frustrating.

For real.I give Ozzie and Eric credit when its due and believe me they deserve alot of it.Theyre two of the best minds in the game bar non but the last couple of years they've been slipping a bit. From picks like Elam and Brown to passing on guys like Keenan Allen and not resigning Boldin and waiting till the last rounds to pick up garbage receivers along with undrafted receivers and pass them off as key rotation guys or even starters.Even trying to sign Brandon Stokley and Dallas Clark when they're on their last legs.

The ugly is the defense especially the secondary, plain and simple.

Ozzie Newsome dropped the ball on getting talent and Dean Pees coaching skills are suspect, because he can't quite seem to coach up the players that he has on the roster.

Flacco and the offense are putting up the necessary points to win games. Especially in the last two games. 33 and 24 points should be enough to win most games. People who are consistently blaming Flacco come off as trolls.

Probably the same ravens fans saying we should have kept Tyrod.

Fill in the blank:

Joe Flacco______

A. is garbage

B. is a bum

C. is overpaid

D. has no pocket awareness

E. is inaccurate

F. bad judgement

G. throws constantly off his back foot

H. is a field private, not a field general

I. All of the above

J. Has no run game and only one weapon on offense. and K. Had 362 yds, 65% completion percentage and a 92.4 QB rating. Respectable numbers and enough to win a game in anyone's book.

Pees and Trestman are the Cam Cameron's of coordinators

Pees is past his time to go and Trestman can't call a 3rd down play nor a 2 min offense. We had over 2 mins, a TO and the 2 min warning. We needed 3 yds. Might try at least one run with someone other than Forsett.

Don't pretend like he didn't have anything to do with this loss. He was inaccurate for most of the day and missed Marlon Brown for a touchdown on 4th down. You can't blame flacco for the whole thing of course, as penalties and classic Dean Pees defense is what really did us in.

He stunk it up in the first half just like the rest of the team but the 2nd half wasn't all his fault. Face it, we have one playmaker on offense for him to rely on. I mean, the TEs were playing well but for some reason Trestman doesn't call up plays that get them involved enough and they're still raw.

Flacco is currently on pace for 4600yards while throwing to 1 WR and not having a running game.

Don't care about the yards & I doubt Flacco does either but valid point about no weapons. O line seems to have been a product of Kubiak as well. Not playing as poorly as week 1 but nowhere near what they were last season.

Agree 100%. Joe wasn't perfect and hasn't been all season. But he isn't the main reason we're 0-3. We have a inconsistent defense and no real firepower on offense outside SSS. And no running game whatsoever.

He played like doo doo the first half along with everyone else but wound up with 362 yds 2 TDs 1 INT and a 92.4 QB rating. For as bad as he played in the first half reaching those respectable stats shows he wasn't the problem in the 2nd half.

Pees is our Cam Cameron on defense . We fired Cam , time to fire Pees .

I really think this will happen if we lose in Pittsburgh .

Will be too little too late. He needs to be gone tonight. Shoot, he should have been gone last year.

I want to piggyback off you, and throw out last year many on the boards were praising Juan Castillo for how well the o-line played, I kept saying I'm crediting Kubiak for installing his version of the zone and extra detail. Now I'm not hearing anything about Juan, the same players from last year on that line.

If we keep losing Hargreaves here we come.

This. I alluded to this in the game thread. Back to Juan, and the o line woes return. Last years success was all kubiak.

When are you guys gonna get it? This all starts with Harbaugh. He is the Head Coach and it's time for him to get on with his lifes work. He will not be Baltimore's head coach next year. We are a poorly coached team plain and simple. Poor execution, too many penalties, poor one dimensional offensive play calling, bad tackling, I watched guys laying around all over the field and I saw Harbaugh with that " deer in the headlights " look. Harbaugh, Trestman and Pees lets get um outta here and Newsome too!

Respectfully disagree. The friendships he has cultivated from the many, many success years have interfered with his ability to coach the way that led to his successes. It is clear that he is letting his personal relationships dictate his football acumen.

The person I feel the worst for is SSS. He has done everything in his power to put this team in a position to win. SSS had aspirations to end his career with the Super Bowl and those dreams are seeming more and more unlikely. It's a shame to watch SSS taking the offense on his back, then watch the defense negate points he has helped us put on the board. How can we be in such a pathetic position after three games?

joe is a very very flawed QB. His footwork bad. He also doesn't attempt to run enough. Basically he has average to below average awareness. His weight on passes is shockingly bad. One of the worst in the league..outside of having a big arm and great zip when he steps into the pass ..he really isn't that good at anything else.

Played like crap the first half but wound up with 362 yds, 65% completion percentage and a QB rating of 92.4. He was NOT the problem in the 2nd half. Sorry.

Its not time to throw the team under the bus but man this is sure deflating... we have talent but i do think that we are not maximizing our talent... put arrington on the outside when he is clearly better inside and have webb switch... If it aint broke dont fix it... melvin got benched.. keep him there... bwill is a beast... jimmy looks like the injury has set him back... O-line has regressed... we can get our cut blocks down... causing justin to struggle... buck looks great but we wont play him... marlon is only good for blocking... camp is clutch but we wont play him... joe is what he is and wont work on his weaknesses (staring down a reciever occasionally and throwing to that reciever no matter what the coverage)... this team though is not superbowl worth... we struggle at the line of scrimmage which was a big plus for us last year... we do not have the depth as we did last year... the only good line man is b-will and yanda this year... i thought eugene did but he hasnt been able to play... oh well lets go 1-0 next week

You know its bad when the best thing the Ravens News page puts up is pics of cheerleaders.

I believe they are looking for things to write about.

Definitely a positive to pull out.  Maxx Williams looks to have a good future.  He just has to mature a bit since he's still very young.  I don't ever see Boyle as a top option or anything, but I think he's a guy that can step up when you need him to.

Boyle's lone two catches were a hurdle over a 6'2 CB and a mean stiff arm to Adam Jones. He's off to a good start.

your good at predicting wins and losses but that's about it. once again your way off with that idiotic statement. Harbs coaching is the only reason we even stayed in this game. He's one of the best coaches in the league and he's obviously not the problem. Your comment really didn't even deserve a response.

I feel awful for him as well. Hate his final year to end like this.

You people that don't think Perriman being on the field will impact the team are pretty dumb... The ravens have no deep threat right now... Whether perriman is good or not he's a deep threat the defense will have to gameplan for.

We haven't even seen him on a single down in the NFL. 40 time means absolutely nothing when it comes to game speed.

facts...

ozzie has dropped the ball in his drafting. Maybe he's out of touch..maybe his scouting team isn't what it used to be. Maybe he was simply,..lucky?

I remember ed reed wasn't who they were targeting in 2002. There were 4 guys they were targeting over him in the draft. Got lucky.

Hes drafted some solid talent but nothing major.Mostly busts. If you contrast his drafts from 1996-2008 and 2009-2015 its like you are looking at two different GM's.

We probably have the worst 3rd down defense in the NFL.

Last 4 games we've given up...35, 12, 37, and 28 on defense.

And keep on mind that that 12 is an illusion...would've been more if Peyton's arm wasn't finished.

You mean STEVE is putting up the points.

My point still remains though, even with just Flacco and Smith, the Ravens are still putting the necessary points to win games.

The defense constantly blowing leads is the biggest problem.

I don't know if Crockett is the #1 guy, but nonetheless he's been playing decent. Just need to see more from him in second halves. I agree about the other two. While not having much opportunity, I like what I saw from Camps as well.

Good - TEs (Not sure what happened with Gilmore after the first half, but the whole unit did well)

Bad - allowing big plays

Ugly - Taking a lead twice ... and then giving it back.

Always love the overreactions after a loss. A change in D coordinator should happen and Trestman gets a little too cute with his play calls at times, but firing Harbaugh and Ozzie and blaming Flacco? It's as if the O blew two fourth quarter leads the past two weeks.

Granted the O really stunk it up in the first game but we were still in the position to win the game until the last minute. The D couldn't stop a nosebleed for the second week in a row, making me wonder how we were able to hold Manning to 0 offensive TDs.

My biggest complaint besides blowing the leads is the two drive killing penalties committed the past two weeks. Granted the officials have been inconsistent and flag happy but the facemask by KO was killer and the roughing the passer was just as bad.

I don't think we're done but we need to win against the Steelers and Browns the next two weeks. The biggest questions are what to do with the secondary and how to get someone other than SSS involved in the passing game.

There's no consolation prize that eases the pain of a loss enough to not sustain a significant blow. I will say this, however. When we were down 0-14 and the Bengals were considering going for it on 4th down, I doubt many thought that the game would ever be competitive again, especially judging by the posts in the game thread. It's difficult to state this now with the wound being so fresh, but I'll give the team some credit here for being in position to finish a comeback for the second straight week after starring down the barrel. Obviously would love to see a successful finish, that goes without saying.

if we had pulled out even one of these 3 games (which all of them were winnable) you would not be saying that. You are letting your frustration of us losing cloud your judgment. Ozzie horrible at drafting? Only gets lucky? Lol get the heck outta here and go root for Snyder and the redskins.

Just heard the interview with SSS. He didn't want to talk about his personal accomplishments today because he was much more down about the loss. Losing pisses him off, what more can you ask of a player than that attitude. I love his passion for this game, love to watch him play like a maniac and I will miss him so bad after retirement. SSS was truly a bright spot in the game and he gave us every chance to win this game. I share 1 important thing with SSS, losing pisses me off too. SSS plays like he refuses to lose any game or give in or give up on any play.

I think Maxx will be a great TE... he is still very young and need some time to get to the NFL level! Saying something vs. Perriman makes no sense! Injuries happen all the time! I still believe players who have sudden impact are rare. Most of them need 1-2 years! Doesn’t help that they are getting younger and younger and not playing 3-4 years college!

Agreed. Other than that interception.

Only bright spots on our D are Brandon Williams, Dumerville, Carl Davis, Mosley.

Dumervil?

I did not see him do anything in 3 games, apart from beating TE one-on-one today for that sack.

I thought Maxx Williams was about a 4.7 forty guy.

No way from what I saw today.  5.5

well that play did give us the first lead of the season and was pretty huge. Well we had the lead once in Denver . My bad. How sad is that.

He got a strip sack on Dalton, and pressured him all day long.

For harbaugh being such a hard nose, this is the most undisciplined they have been in years.

That's what happens when you have alot young guys on the team .
