The good, bad and ugly vs Bengals

757 posts in this topic

From what I saw our front 7 made an effort but the lack of leadership isn't helping them.

Our coverage in the secondary and the defensive plan as a whole looked like it was designed by Wile E. Coyote.

Flacco looked bad technique-wise a lot of the game, but honestly some of our receivers are so unsure that I'm starting to think Joe didn't think they could catch anything that wasn't lofted to them.

Steve Smith honestly looked like the only reason this game was even close. It hurts me to see him looking so down in the press conference right now. He put this team on his back and the team let him down.

He probably got double teamed or The Bengels defense pay extra attention to him.

he didn't play offense at all hardly in the second half, I assumed he was injured and that's why boyle seen so much time

Flacco is currently on pace for 4600yards while throwing to 1 WR and not having a running game.

And that's that problem with this offense. There is only 1 legitimate wide receiver and he's 36 (sounds like when DMase was the only one too). The TEs are good though, but we don't have them on the field together enough. I hate Trestman's personel packages. Too much reliance on people you can't rely on.

I think I have finally been convinced that if something has to give on defense, then it needs to be Pees. Execution has been bad for sure and I have never witnessed a Ravens defense so inept with the game on the line. It's not all on Pees but we need a major shake up somewhere. I'm afraid Pees is going to be the 1 on the hot seat, or perhaps the ejection seat.

Now we are seeing the effects of BAD 1st and 2nd Round DRAFT PICKS, going back to Kindle. It forces us to pay bums from other teams, and not have money left for signing our own home grown talent like Torrey, McPhee, Haloti, and other good pickups like Boldin. Then we think a Prevent Defense is a good D. Gonna lose one of the few impact players we have left at seasons end, SSS, very frustrating.

Have to agree with this

another game winning oppurtunity given away to a penalty, two weeks in a row

And that is coaching. Particularly the head coach. I do not what Harbaughs problem is, but he has to grow some manly bits and start telling these guys what not to do.

Kubiak was behind the OL doing better as well. Now that it's just Juan again they're back to sucking.

I'm not sure about that but even Juan has a history of having a good offensive line especially with The Eagles in which they had a pretty successful rushing attack.

Funniest thing is if the Ravens D could've held the Bengals to a freaking FG, we could've at least gone into OT... This secondary has been utterly un-clutch under the Pees era, no matter the personnel.

Pass blocking wise I think they did a good job. This is a great Bengals DLine. Awful run blocking doe.

Harbs has been really adamant about blowing 4th QTR games because of the defense. I really think its possible Pees gets canned.

Agreed, especially the last sentence.

Also, we don't have a real starting RB on the roster.

Oh wow I didn't even know that . Hmmm so that's why Max Williams was getting so many looks .

0-3 in which every game has been decided by under 7 points .. The next 3 games are winnable if the coaching gets it together especially on the defensive side .. Trestman needs to make better calls aswell in crucial Situations but also the players need to execute consistently aswell

But would that be a good idea with the short week The Ravens have?  They face The Steelers thursday.

Well at least we will get some space in the cap back next year! We need to make some moves than and have a good draft! We have to go WR again early!

It's interesting reading posts here. Why some of you had high expectations for this club....last season was fool's gold. We played a bad AFC-S (still lost to HOU and struggled in wins vs TEN & JAX, at home) and a horrible NFC-S, swept the div but if not for Forsett's 180 yd. 2 TD performance and Hill's pick-6, we probably would've lost at NOS. We lost to the contenders: IND, swept by CIN, SD, PIT (the latter 2 were blowouts)

Flacco is what he always was except for lightning in a bottle in the SB run...average!!! He's not going to overcome this team's weaknesses, extend plays, be consistently accurate or aware of pocket threats. It ain't Trestman's fault (although his play-calling is suspect) That's basic QBing!!! In his 8th season, constantly starts slow yet to make a pro-bowl...that's top 3 in the conference. He's got a top 3 NFL contract although I get NFL economics and need for a QB for any possible success. Add pinning hopes on a rookie WR (Perriman), w/o pre-season snaps, a rep for brick hands, on a team notorious for not producing/developing WRs...no matter the WR coach, no WR other can get separation? None!! Anyone dare to criticize Oz for his personnel moves, acquisitions?

This is a def franchise, always will be even in the Joe era. Except for the 2013 season, post-SB, the D has always outranked the O, at least statistically. When the D has played poorly, which is rare even under Pees, UGH...Joe hasn't match the opposing QB. When the D keeps us in games, Joe has seldom sealed or stole a W. And you guys blame SSS at DEN, if Joe didn't throw that bonehead Talib pick-6, a GW TD effort would not have been necessary. That's atypical SSS, but typical Joe. He misses SSS wide open at OAK, then a game-ending INT. Harbs has made bad in-game/timeout gaffes, we've had some suspect OCs playcall, injuries, bad drafts, etc...etc.. but this teams success/failure is mostly on Joe...IMHO.

I would just like to apologize to sss on behalf of the fans. I'm sorry our defense has let us down again. Can't stress how much I appreciate the effort he has given and all for another loss. This stings.

We held the lead for what, 60 seconds combined? This defense is unreliable.

You are being wayyy too generous.

For the last three years I been saying pees needs to go and my word he does but trestman take that Chicago losing off are team I'm so sick of are secondary beside jimmy having no awareness none whatsoever also why is are offense so average now Torrey gone I feel this offense is so plan no one respects it I don't steve can't perform like this all year remember he did this last year then the finale 8 games he didn't record a single 100 yard we need receiving core too step up. Joe it's time to start showing your elite make the offense good because of you not hurt the team with no awareness

Hopefully true, but will it matter?

We need to sweep the division from here on out to have any playoff shot.

Exactly, unless Perriman is a shut down corner his return doesn't really matter.

Yeah, I doubt it happens this week. Really wouldn't seem likely considering it's a short week.
