The good, bad and ugly vs Bengals

We didn't get outbid for Torrey Smith. We could have offered him a lucrative structured deal. Just like Ngata. The sad fact is they got outta dodge with the quickness. We don't offer lucrative contracts to people who aren't named Ray Rice or Joe Flacco. Thankfully Rice is gonna drop off soon which will free up an additional 6 mil or so.

I'm not  sure about that because The Ravens didn't have alot cap space with Ngata on the team. Torrey Smith even said so him self the only reason why he wasn't back with The Ravens was due to cap space reasons.

Yeah, he was a 6th rounder.  We're a team that doesn't like to give chances to WRs drafted in the 5th or later it seems

You sure about that because the last time I check a fourth rounder and lower were giving chances on offense in John Harbaugh era such Demetrius Williams, Marcus Smith, Justin Harper, Tandon Doss,  and etc. The only receiver I can really think of that wasn't really used that much on offense was David Reed besides on end arounds. None of the guys didn't work out either because of injuries, constant drop passes, and etc.  I find it kind of back wards for The Ravens give undrafted receivers like Marlon Brown, Deonte Thompson and Kamer Aiken chances but not the receivers that were drafted  in the 4th round and lower  whom actually make more money than undrafted players.

That really doesn't make sense financially but  in my opinion because generally drafted players are more investment than undrafted players. Now that doesn't mean a undrafted player can't outshine a drafted player such as for example Vikings receiver Charlie Johnson starting over their first round receiver  Cordarrelle Patterson.

You specifically quoted me saying WRs drafted in the 5th round and later so I'm not sure why 4th rounders are used as an example?  Justin Harper was the only WR you mentioned here that wasn't drafted in the 4th and Harper, a 7th rounder, received no real chances on offense, which was my point.

We don't give chances to WRs drafted in the 5th or later?

Kamar Aiken?  Undrafted.

Marlon Brown?  Undrafted.

Michael Campanaro?  7th round.

Darren Waller? 6th round.

Our roster currently only has 5 WRs on it, because Perriman is injured.   Steve Smith is a former 3rd round pick, and he's currently 36 years old.  Of the remaining 4 WRs, half were undrafted, and the other half were 6th and 7th round picks.

I mean, I'd call it "stupid", to be honest, but you could also call it "giving them a chance" to have 4 out of 5 receivers as lower than 5th round picks.

Campanaro and Waller being drafted doesn't mean they are getting a chance.  How much are they playing?

Marlon did receiver a chance but let's be honest, it's because players in front of him got injured (Stokely, Thompson, Jacoby) more so than the coaches simply giving him a shot.

Aiken is being given a chance for reasons unknown.  To clarify, I really meant to say 5th round and later players drafted (or undrafted) by Baltimore.

The fact remains that there is only one WR on the team right now that was drafted in the 5th round or higher, and that's Steve Smith Sr.  Brown, Campanaro, and Waller were all 6th round or later, and they're all given a chance by being on the roster.  Trust me, if one of these guys was Antonio Brown, they'd be showing it during games.  They're seeing snaps.  They're there in practice.  They're on the roster.  They HAVE been given a chance.  They have no competition outside of Steve Smith Sr, so if none of them can prove that they should be starting over the others, none of them can make a play on the field, that's on them, that's not because they haven't been given a chance.  How many 6th/7th rounders and undrafted WRs are there on other team's active rosters right now?  Is there another team in the entire NFL that has as many as the Ravens have?

So the only way a guy gets a chance in the NFL is if he plays regular season games?

There are 0 NFL teams that follow that philosophy.
