The good, bad and ugly vs Bengals

757 posts in this topic

Well, lets put it this way... both of the safeties screwed up big time on that play.

Lewis almost looks like he has the short side of a deep zone on that play, since he borderline stops or slows down when Green is running his deep route, and Hill is way, way, way late with his help if that's the case.

Either way, poor coverage and unbelievably poor tackling, which for me has been the biggest weakness of the secondary the last two weeks and the biggest difference from the Denver game.

Will Hill included, there aren't any secondary players I've seen out there the last two games who look like they are interested in tackling pass catchers. They look timid at best in that regard.

I thought the same thing when they showed the replay.  It looks like Lewis got burned, but it also looked like he was supposed to be hanging out underneath of that deep route, with Hill covering the deep portion of the field.  Of course that's going to look awful when Hill isn't where you assume he supposed to be.  Lewis definitely takes some blame, but you can also tell that there was either a miscommunication or that Hill was very late in sliding over.

James Hurst was graded as the worst player In week 3 in the entire NFL. Forsett was the worst RunningBack.

FolY6LE.jpg

Through the entire year last year only one OLineman got less than a -10 for a game. Hurst has done it twice now...in three weeks.

Even an unhealthy Monroe can't come back soon enough.  He wasn't good by any means last year, but I'd take that version of Monroe over a healthy Hurst any day of the week.  He's so bad.

Hope he returns  for thursday game but I don't understand why our run game been so bad lately. A Raven fan mention  that Johnathan Ogden said on 98 rock that we running more of man blocking scheme than zone which I hope isn't true.

I didn't mind him leaving, he did nothing for HOU/NYJ. As far as I'm concerned he retired in 2012.

It's just clear that Pees has no idea what to do with the secondary. Guys who were okay elsewhere (Lewis/Arrington) come here and suck. Guys who either stunk here (Stewart) or were okay here (Ihedigbo/Graham) leave and play better elsewhere. We need better DBs but it's clear to me that this isn't entirely personnel related. Reed was never going to last forever, we need a coach who can actually coach.

Pretty much every secondary that were nobody came in as a Raven and is currently thriving. Pagano, and Teryl were great secondary coaches. Chris Hewitt in the meanwhile has been awful. He is a major reason why our secondary is one of the worst in the NFL. He has the talent, he just do not know how to make them a star. Only teaches them schemes.

Flacco says the team has no confidence. Not what you want to heat your QB saying...

Except he's 100% right, and anybody watching these games can see it.

Winning even a single game may be able to shred this, but you can tell from body language and overall play that this team is lacking confidence in all areas.

Lack of confidence and lack of discipline. Shades of 2007.

I'm not one who harps on *~leadership~* but someone has to pull these guys together.

Alright Harbaugh, time to work your magic and do something about it. The last thing I want to see from this team is quitting.

Lol at least he's honest but he's right! These Ravens are weak in many many ways. It's mainly the defense. They don't always play hard and that's their problem. Ray Lewis was right when he said he wasn't sure if we could recover after losing Suggs. Suggs is that defense! He brings the attitude and the dog and when you have no dog in the yard, someone's coming and taking your stuff while you sleep.

I'm so sick of this defense. It's time to send a message that this isn't acceptable. This isn't Ravens football!

I don't even blame Harbaugh. It's on the players to fight for each other, pride, and to win. It's up to the coordinator to put his guys in the right spot to actually win. It's also up to the coordinator to get his guys going.

I saw the offense do better in the second half because we adjusted! The defense played decent but they crumbled at the worst moment.

The offense has heart...it starts with Smith Sr. and Flacco and feeds down, we saw it with Gillmore.  And though they're not good you can't tell me Brown and Aiken weren't trying.

I don't see the equivalent on defense. J. Smith is supposed to be our defensive cornerstone going forward it wasn't there with him.

Jimmy didn't have his best game, but I can't question his heart at all.  Word is that he was nearly crying in the locker room after the game because he knew he let his team down.

I wonder if we had won if Upshaw catches that tipped pass and Tucker makes the field goal.

Even though Flacco says that this team is lacking confidence, the last thing I want to see (and I said it before) is QUITTING. If we get blown out, it better be because we just got severely outplayed (and outcoached), not because we lack heart and we folded.....

Does Suggs necessarily have to be on the field to motivated these guys ? Can't he just be on the sidelines and give them some words of motivation  or something?

The good - "Not Your Fathers Root Beer"

The bad - Drinking all the "Not Your Fathers Root Beer"

The ugly - Switching to Laphroaig and then feeling like this

You  know, I just came back in here to post something when I saw this...  You are so right on.  The guy chased AJ Green around all day long... and there aren't many corners that Aren't going to get burned by that guy.  The INT by him was great coverage...  When I go back and watch those highlight video's, it makes one realize just how much we really were "IN" that game.

The losses, yeah they are disheartening.  When a guy puts so much into it that he still sitting at his locker, in uniform, an hour after the game, he's giving it his all....  Players like him and CJ Mosely, with the heads up to grab that ball and run it in for the TD...who also had a great day...  Dumervil with the strip sack on that play....  There are players that are in it to win it... for sure.

I just get tired of some folks just generalizing "all players"....  "our whole defense"...  I just think we need the right coaches and coordinators in there to get these guys minds in the right place....  to make them understand that they have the ability.  And to say that's not the job of the coaches and coordinators is just plain wrong.  It's not just about x's and o's and lines on a dry erase board.

I'm with Flacco and Steve....  There is a complete lack of confidence by some young players that just don't think they can do it....

THEY CAN!...

The funny thing is with that Tucker miss I thiught he was trying to play the wind but the wind never pushed the ball over.

I also dont like Flacco saying anything about lacking confidence thats just something you gotta keep a lid on regardless what he believes.

Oh I don't question that...someone has to be that calming presence on defense. Like how guys on offense always say they can look to Flacco when they get frustrated. Who is that guy on defense?

Good: Steve Smith is a monster.

Bad A: The lack of a run game.

Bad B: Offense got off to a really slow start in that first half.

Ugly: The big plays allowed by our secondary. Just awful.

Steve still being good isn't exactly a "good" for us, he's leaving soon and him being th only self way decent player on our offense means that we are gonna be even worse(if that's possible) when he either slows down or retires. Hate watching his last season being so horrendous while the panthers go 3-0. Sickening.

EXECUTION EXECUTION EXECUTION

hopefully will pull a miracle turn around this season, and hopefully we can stop the Steelers with no Big Ben and a sub par defense, but we lost to the Raiders so who knows what can happen lol. Anyways GO RAVENS! The season has 16 games we aint even a quarter in, it aint over till its over.

I completely agree, I think the players on this team are awesome and the foundation is very very solid, sometimes the games just don't go your way no matter how hard you try, and thats been the case these past three games. In no way were any of them blowouts and in every game we had a chance to win, just need some better execution thats all

The good - The Ravens played that game at home in M&T Bank Stadium

The bad - To lose when SSS played his heart out!

The ugly - Is that after 3 losses in a row some are still in here saying; "Now this up coming game will tell us alot about this team!" When I think that those 3 losses all ready tells me a lot about this team!

Think about it, what are the differences from last year in personnel ?

Torrey, Jacoby , Ngata and a few others .

Speed and a run stuffer . I will say we miss Ngata the least and some speed the most .

Not a lot of change if you think about it . Yet here we are 0-3 .

The biggest and most detrimental change was losing Kubiak .

Oh I forgot to post this for the good, but SSS pretty much had the football equivalent of a triple double.

Unfortunately, so did AJ Green.

I have to disagree about missing Haloti. I think you are undervaluing what his quiet leadership meant to the D. With Sizzle out it would mean tons if he were still the anchor on the D line.

Kubes? While not stellar, the offense did enough to win.

Edit. In hindsight it would have been smart to keep Jacoby for the $2 mil.. But who knew we would be where we are with the WRs.
