Jimmy Smith's confidence was shattered after the Bengals game. I don't expect to keep Antonio Brown under wraps.

Maybe Webb needs to take over as #1. Atleast he keeps the play in front of him.

He needs to get his mind right, for sure. That's an underrated storyline.

He better get it right soon or you can count him in the "wasted contract" bin.

Ben being out makes little difference.

Not when Pees all but guarantees 0-4.

He'll make Vick feel like it was 2004 again.

Which is why Vick will play like it was 2004 again.

"Smith spent much of the day matched up against Green, and the fifth-year cornerback was visibly upset after the receiver torched Baltimore's defense for 227 receiving yards. Smith spent several minutes sitting on a stool staring into his locker. A few teammates came over to offer words of encouragement.

Several players had already showered and left the stadium, but Smith was still in full uniform sitting on the stool. When he finally showered and changed, Smith was still too upset to face questions from a group of about two dozen reporters.

"I'm too emotional to talk right now," Smith said quietly. "I'll talk with you this week.""

Yeah I read that post-game. You feel for him and hope he can rebound.

This "emotion" will either make him play out of his mind, or he'll crumble and play even worse.

We'll see...

The last thing Jimmy needs to do is go into his shell and emotionally detach.

Maybe he needs a sports psyche.

Yep, year 1 he played with no confidence. If he goes back to that level we're in trouble.

This is where a defensive leader like Rex would be really helpful.

Vick does not have the arm to take advanatge of Brown's speed and downfield presence. No matter if the DBs are playing a zillion yards off or not.

Instead we have "throw 'em under the bus" Pees. Wonder if he'll do another wonderful enlightening presser this week?

All you need to do if give it to AB in a cross or in a screen and he'll break 5 tackles and get 50YAC.

No wonder players look lost and confused. They all think they're just too dumb to grasp Pees's genius defensive concepts.

Yeah all his defenders talk about how smart he is, and I'm certain he is smart. I'm certain all NFL coaches are smart. You don't get to those positions being dumb. What they forget is smart does not equal good at what you do. I have worked with some very smart people who were just very bad at what they do.

This game is the perfect recipe for a complete implosion: national TV, backup QB as the opponent, and a loss effectively ends your season.

Expect stories of locker room discontent filtering out if this game goes as I think it will.

NFL Network, "Michael Vick has been given the keys to a Mercedes and he is going to crash it." Dayum. Hope they are wrong! lol.

Considering our secondary is basically the autobahn I'd be surprised if he has under 250yards

I'd like to see a few different starters this week.  Brooks in for Lewis, Babin in for Upshaw, Urschel in for Zuttah and Campanaro in for Aiken.

We've given up 2 consecutive career days, why not a 3rd?

I expect several Vines of 2004-like Mike Vick on Thursday.

Add: if Monroe plays Harrison trucks him

Harrison always gets up for us.

Also remember that it's Jerome Bettis retirement night (they always trot some legend out to get their number retired when they play us) so the crowd will be super amped. Perfect storm for disaster.

A couple thoughts...

1. The front office and coaches put way too much trust in players like Aiken and Brown. Both were undrafted for a reason and neither have shown playmaking ability. They definitely deserve spots on our roster, but not in such a large role. Lost in all of this is how invisible Aiken is on the field.

2. The bad news is that we are 0-3. The good news is that we had late leads in all 3 of those losses. We aren't getting blown out in these games. We just aren't disciplined enough to close them out. All in all, we lost 3 straight games. Whether it happened in weeks 10,11,12 or 1,2,3. Win Thursday, and then take care of the Browns, and we are 2-3 heading to SF.

3. Our pass rush needs needs to be addressed this offseason. We can't rely on Suggs and Doom for eveything. We need young depth. Players with fire and energy. We had a few, but unfortunately they went on to larger roles and contracts elsehwere.

4. Perriman is going to be a player for us. I don't understand why everyone is upset with a player for being hurt. Misleading injury updates aren't his fault.

5. Camp needs more snaps. He has Julian Edelman written all over him. Short passes with YAC is where this league is. I'm tired of watching Marlon and Aiken run long routes in slow motion with the corners right beside them.

Only only hope is that their Secondary has a worse showing than ours and we put up 40 points and hope thats higher than whatever Peen Deez and crew give up.

Yeah no doubt.

Aiken is awful. IR Perriman bring in a warm body that will go across the middle

I'm still hopeful.

It won't be easy Thursday. Like I said elsewhere.

This is the No More Excuses Game. Not from the Offense. Not from the Defense.

I don't care how. I just care that we do.

We either implode, or we explode. We implode, and the season is over. We explode, and people will realize that maybe all it takes is execution, and we become the scrappy underdogs that overcome the odds. One of the two will happen, mark my words.

If we implode on Thursday, I don't expect anything more than an 8-8 season at best.

If we explode on Thursday, I don't expect anything less than an 8-8 at worst.

We ruin their Bettis night, we find ourselves by punching a hurting rival in the mouth? I say we streak in to our bye, or at least only drop one more game before our bye.

Now this. I agree with THIS.

We are lucky that the Steelers lost Big Ben here, I didn't think we would win this game but with Big Ben out we have a chance. We gotta, gotta clean up on the stupid penalties(Jernigan and KO, I'm looking at you among others) and we actually have to finish games but we may actually win this game. Then we just need to regroup over the extended time off, make some changes and rest up. We can beat Cleveland and San Francisco is winnable as well. We could end up at 3-3 fairly easily but we won't if we continue to commit stupid penalties and give up drives in critical situations. For as mentally tough as we make this team out to be, they need to go out there and show it.

The news articles after Thursday's game will be either one of these:

"Is the Ravens' season over?"

"Without Big Ben is the season over for the Steelers?"

Agreed with everything you said. Its bleak, but we're far from finished. The 2012 Redskins were once 3-6 and the Carolina Panthers start out the season 1-3. A win against Pitt would be huge for us. Edited by PurpleCity5

well, at least their defense are not as fiery like used to be so Joe corps can carve them up on offense so are their offense.  It's going to be high scoring game.....
