Next Up: Pittsburgh Steelers

333 posts in this topic

Something that I think is worth acknowledging is now the stakes are high for this team already. Usually we get complacent in the middle of the season and ramp it up at the end of the season when the playoff picture get's tight. Right now it feels like we're playing a playoff elimination game in Pittsburgh, that's the type of pressure that is mounting for a our team after all the offseason hype.

No Ben, No Martavis Bryant, I think this is where we beat a maimed Steelers squad in their house and get some of our juice back. I think we'll get a heavy dose of Le'Veon Bell/D.Williams and they will have some success on the ground but ultimately I see Joe having his best performance of the season and running a clinic on the Steelers secondary with SSS. These next 3 games are going to be intense after this start, I'll say that much.

I'm not worried about the offense at all.

But I don't trust the defense. I wouldn't trust then to close out a game against Kyle Boller.

When you have a coordinator who thinks playing a deep zone defense and having a safety cover a top 5 receiver in the league that is what happens.  I only wish Flacco and the offense could have taken more time to score that last touchdown and not given Cincy that much time, its pathetic but true.

It's come to the point where if the offense gets the lead with more than 1:00 left on the clock, we can expect to lose it. 100% of the time.

I hear ya man. I know it's tough to get any confidence going for this team right now but I'm in Steeler country so I saw that game (while streaming ours lol). They were hot garbage after Ben went down. They took no chances at all. Vick is playing not to lose and that was fine with a lead and against the Rams (who nearly came back and won) but I just think our offense can pull this one out.

You guys have to remember that the Steelers going into a shell like they did was just purely to protect Vick from getting killed.

Vick loves to run around and hold the ball. The Rams entire front four is insanely skilled. I'd take all four over any pass rusher we are putting on the field at the moment.

Edit: To close, we got a severely lucky for Ben to get an injury the week before we play them. If we don't win this game, then I truly will believe that the Ravens are one of the worst in the NFL.

Yeah that is true, I am never a fan of placing blame on one coach or player because it usually is a collective effort win or lose, but Pees has to be the scapegoat for this season if this continues.  When our backs were against the wall in second half Pees dialed up blitzes and our corners pressing. What happens? Dumervil forces a fumble, we shut down their running game and forced them into a few punts and an interception.  Then with a lead he dials it back and plays conservative and we lose, it just does not make any sense and I would be surprised if he is still coaching by our bye week

Right. I just meant not underestimating whoever comes in as their QB.

My mistake.I misread your comment.I thought that you thought we were about to face Leftwhich at first.I must've been to hyped up after the game to read.

Thursday we'll find out what's really going on.If we can't beat a Roethlisbergerless and Martavius Bryantless steelers team and Vick puts up the same numbers Carr and Dalton put up then we have real problems.

Any update on crockets injury?

I don't want to assume anything, but I cannot imagine it is serious because he stood on the sidelines the entire second half with his helmet on. Maybe a possible concussion and they held him out for precautionary reasons?

After the game, when harbs was asked about it, his response sounded kind of ominous

"You'll get a copy of the injury report"

If Crockett can't go we're down to exactly one decent passcatcher on offense.

Steve Smith's body won't make it to the bye if this keeps up.

You could say that about all his responses, he was not happy about anything and I thought indirectly took a shot at Pees and secondary. We will see this I guess though

He might have just been in an out of sorts mood. For obvious reasons.

Yeah, I'm hoping it was just his mood. He has every reason to br upset. I hope gilmore is ok. Crockett has really shown up for us, I like that kid

Same here Gilmore is a building block for our offense and he is a hard working guy.  I hope he is ok to but atleast Williams seems to be getting more comfortable each game.  Those two could be quite the pair in the near future

Yeah man williams and boyle both are progressing faster than I expected them to. The tight ends are definitely a bright spot on this team right now!

They sure are! Now if only Perriman and Waller would get on that track we would be in good shape

I agree that going forward we will have a nice group of TEs. Didn't expect BOYLE to do anything, that was a nice surprise.

This is the worst possible scenario for the Steelers - losing Roethlisberger and having to play a TNF game against a division rival.  It will take quite a lot of work for Vick to get up to game speed in just three days of practice.

That being said, he could just dump it off to Le'Veon 30 times in a row and manage to fool Dean Pees' defense.

But sometimes it is the coordinators fault. Every team has good players but if the coordinator doesn't put them in position to make plays they won't. You have to play guys to their strengths, and not just use them that way sometimes.

True! The coordinator in combination with the secondary coach, something is out of sync.

I am not worried about the DL but am concerned about the secondary (CBs, Safeties). On the other side, I have concerns about the OL's ability in the run game, and WRs not named SSS.

Edited: Penalties are also a big concern. A few less each game and the Ravens may be 3-0.

The Ravens likely need to be more concerned about the run now that Big Ben isn't playing but Antonio Brown will still be a big issue.

The Steelers are also known for rallying around a back-up QB. Plus, it's Jerome Bettis night and we're traveling on a short week. I think there is no disadvantage for the Steelers.

Jimmy Smith's confidence was shattered after the Bengals game. I don't expect to keep Antonio Brown under wraps.

Maybe Webb needs to take over as #1. Atleast he keeps the play in front of him.
