Next Up: Pittsburgh Steelers

333 posts in this topic

How hard did this game backfire on the schedule makers and the NFL? They thought these two teams would be coming into this game fighting for the early lead in the division. Ravens are 0-3 and Steelers lose their star QB and a few others still aren't playing. This game is gonna be a snooze fest folks.

Ravens are basically 4 games behind the Bengals AND THERE HAVENT EVEN BEEN 4 WEEKS YET!!! Ponder that one folks.

So Ben's out at least 4 weeks. I really do think we'll take this one, regardless of how good the rest of our year shapes up. Pre-Ben injury it looks like an guaranteed loss, now I really like our chances.

Micheal Vick looked good in the preseason and I wouldnt count out any QB against our secondary.

And if Andy Dalton can scramble for TDs and First downs you best believe Micheal Vick can do it.

Big Ben might have been better. We're familiar with him and have tape on him and he while he does escape the pocket he doesn't scramble much.

Sam Bradford looked good in the preseason too. I really think preseason means next to nothing.

Who cares who the QB is. I'm prepared for Vick to have a career day.

Yes. Along with giving up game-losing scores, this defense the last several years has been defined by making average QBs and backups look like All Pros.

Our defense is singlehandedly responsible for the Kirk Cousins era in Washington. lol

Well, Vick was tentative and inaccurate today. He only has three days to try to get some timing with the receivers. Not sure what to expect.

Our offense wins us this game. Steelers went into protection mode once Ben went down. They will play ultra conservative. Our offense just needs to keep on doing what they did the last 2 weeks (minus the crappy 1st half, they can drop that part lol)

Vick does not have the arm to take advantage of their speed at WR. If he tries, our defense might actually get some INTs! They will have some success since it seems our defense struggles against the running QBs but not enough to win.

Not trying to throw a wet blanket on your fire or to be negative, I just go by what I see or have seen.

There is nothing that these Ravens have done in 3 games mind you...that makes me feel even remotely confident that they can go into Pittsburgh of all places...Big Ben or no Big Ben and pull off a desperate and needed win!  Nothing!  Afterall, that's what this game vs the Bengals at home was right?  Needed?  Teams get geared up to play the Ravens (i.e. Raiders etc.) and it seems like these Ravens don't match that intensity often and early!  They start off sluggishly offensively and then ultimately stall out and then "try" to kick in and come on strong late in the game with a very suspect, weak and soft defense that can't close out games!  I fully expect the Steelers to be the Steelers and play hard from the beginning to the end of the game and I highly doubt (based upon what I have witnessed in 3 games now...2 on the road and 1 at home) that these Ravens match that intensity in the spotlight on Thursday night!

Now, do I want them to prove me wrong?  Of course I do!  But will they?  Hmmm....

I'm still not expecting the game to be that easy, considering our bad secondary. But I do think we'll win because of Pittsburgh's suspect D. It could still go either way, but I'm more confident about this one than the first three games. I think we can all agree though the Bengals will win the division easily now.

Agreed. The Ravens have shown me nothing for me to believe that 0-4 isn't an inevitability.

Sad, isn't it? To see the Ravens look like this? I've never seen a Ravens defense this bad. I was too young to remember when they first came here, but I've always known them to be a great defense.

I'd hate to say it but Aiken is not a starter. Sadly that is the case. He's a good 3 or 4, but he's not a 2. I really think we should just give Brown and Camp more touches. I thought Aiken's confidence would be riding after that 4th QTR he had in Oakland but inconsistencies and inability to separate is plaguing him.

Marlon Brown looks just as bad. I think we should see if we can coax Reggie Wayne to come here. I know he wasn't too hot himself, but maybe he can do something for us. We can call the team between Smith & Wayne the Rocking Chair, lol.

I've watched the Ravens for years and I honestly have to say, this might be the worst I've seen from the defense. I'm serious, it's totally sad to see a defense so helpless, clueless and vulnerable in the closing minutes. Witnessing the Bengals do what the Broncos and Raiders did knowing in your heart that the moment you gave the ball back to Cincinatti the game is over. I'm being honest, when we gave the ball back to Cincinnati when S.S.S scored that TD, I knew well deep down inside that we weren't going to win.

The one thing that sucks the most is that you know its going to happen. In the end how it will go down. You know this defense will let you down and they did.

I hate dwelling on the past, but man, I don't remember the defense being this vulnerable and helpless in the 4th QTR, when we had Ray, Ed, Sizzle and Ngata....No way did they blow away games like this consecutively....It would never happen on their watch, and today it did.

We need leaders badly. We miss that from Sizzle. We miss that from him more than his production. It's sad to our D cave in like that in the 4th QTR today. Really sad.

I know many people say this lose pains them and what not but wow....this one hurt....almost as the one from New England last year....it hurt really really bad seeing the defense go down like that....when you know it will happen. That's the most painful part, knowing that it's going to happen.

Yeah but Marlon made some plays and did something. Aiken was no where to be spotted. Here or the Denver game. At least Marlon can contribute on some plays. I was a huge Aiken supporter before the season began but now I'm seeing the concerns. and lol at the rocking chair joke.

Maybe he will drop in on Suggs for a visit.

Suggs and Ben room mates in the hospital.

Now there is an SNL skit.

Steelers defense as bad as it is should not be underestimated, Zuttah in particular has struggled quite a bit against them. If we lose another close game at the end then I don't know what I will do, getting ridiculous that we can't win a close game.

Really depressing to see a team that prides itself on defense put that product onto the field.

I hear ya man. I know it's tough to get any confidence going for this team right now but I'm in Steeler country so I saw that game (while streaming ours lol). They were hot garbage after Ben went down. They took no chances at all. Vick is playing not to lose and that was fine with a lead and against the Rams (who nearly came back and won) but I just think our offense can pull this one out.

Don't be fooled by the Steelers performance vs the Rams.  I'm pretty sure that by the time the Ravens come to town that Tomlin will have the Steelers salavating and foaming at the mouth to stomp the Ravens down even further in the AFC North basement to 0-4. You mentioned Vick playing not to lose but I also remember when Batch beat us.  Batch!  Sure, it's a different season, but my point is that this Ravens team is in worse shape than the one that lost to Batch.  Again, I have no confidence in these boys to get it done in a hostile Pittsburg environment and on Thursday night?  Primetime?  Absolutely not!

Hey I'm not judging anyone for being pessimistic about this team right now. It's just a feeling I have from watching both teams today.

Even if I am right, that one win in no way saves our season - might just put off its death to a later time.

This reminds me of the time in middle school where this girl challenged me to an arm wrestling contest. As a boy, I was expected to beat her, and winning wouldn't have meant much. However, had I lost, I never would have heard the end of it.

This is kind of how I look at this coming Steelers game. I would much rather play a difficult game vs Big Ben than completely humiliate Michael Vick. If we beat Vick, then there will be much less enjoyment because that's what we are supposed to do. If we lose, it will be completely humiliating.

I lost that arm wrestling contest btw. Please don't lose this game, Ravens.

Good point....arm wresting is technique if you do it right and you should only lose if your arm gets broken (but most wouldn't hold on that long even at fundamental soundness) . And I feel the Ravens need to work on fundamentals defensively and should only look bad if they get injured.

And that goes to the next point of underestimation. Anyone that lines up you get that win and enjoy that win. That lady that played arena football at RB that got low/had good technique made guys look stupid during her time and coached pre season in the NFL.

But I would purposely lose at lingerie football tho....I'll be at the bottom of those piles with regularity, haha.

It sounds good but honestly I see us going into the bye at 2-5, 3-4 at best. And I don't think Pees is gone during the season unless our defense gets worst, but if it does get worst or stays like this throughout, I think we seriously start considering a replacement.

I guess only time will tell with Pees, but atleast we know Harbaugh is not afraid to make that call in season if necessary.  I don't know what coach or player needs to take the fall for the 0-3 start but someone does.  It obviously wont be Harbaugh nor should it be, but a starter hast to benched or someone has to be fired in order to spark this team.  If we would start out fast in the first half we would have probably won all 3 games.  These slow starts have plagued us for years now and it is unbelievably frustrating to watch as a fan.  A win in Pittsburgh is necessary and expected now with Big Ben out, they should be able to contain Vick and force them to beat them down field.
