[News] Ravens Cancel Second Extended Stay Out West

26 posts in this topic

It seems like a long vacation out west would also then give the Ravens the same disadvantage west coast teams have traveling east when the Ravens return home.

Harbs also recently said that he believes the Bengals have the "most talented team in the league."

I hope Ozzie doesn't take that comment personally. I'm sure it's Harb's psychic games because if the Ravens beat Cincy, then they beat the most talented team in the league and can beat anyone else this year- also, it might justify why we've recently lost more games to them

Staying out west last week was a good idea and expensive. With all the great intensions, alas it was a fiasco. Glad to see that we will be back to the usual routine.

I'm glad the team isn't going away for two weeks again, and I know the team is glad too.

Traveling drains you, and then when your employer takes time out of your personal life to focus on work on their free time, while being away from their family, friends, and even pets, it just creates resentment from the players to the coaches/ team.

It's happened to me on company business trips- I'm glad Harbs/ Ravens accepted responsibility by realizing their mistake.

If they came home the Ravens that showed up in denver would have showed up against the raiders! I saw too many good things out this squad and I'm just waiting on it to unfold! Take more than a 0-2 to shake me and I'm down for my Squad good or bad better or worse! LETS GO

No, we don't want to duplicate the mistake we just made. I hope that the baseball Giants and Diamond Backs have their own stadiums, so I won't have to wonder if Joe is completing a pass to third base or if Justin found a hole between shortstop and second. I mean really, watching dust bowl football from the 50'ties doesn't cut it. The Raiders and the A's play in the same hole???

Nothing better to regroup mentally than seeing your wife and children in the process......The decision to travel instead of staying in the West is the best decision....Lets beat the Bungles!!

HA!  I am glad that I am not the only one watching that game who had that type of reaction.  I did one of those "say what" double takes. Definitely felt a time warp - then the mirror showed me all the same gray hairs and wrinkles....   Not only was there a baseball field in the middle of the football stadium, but did you see how small the endzone was and how close the fans were at the back of it?  Outdoor imitation of an arena league!

It wasn't a bad idea to stay out west but football palyers are creatures of habit just like the rest of us. It's hard to stay away form your family, friends, or even the simple things that you like to do in your normal surroundings to get yourself ready for what tasks stand before you. I guarantee we will see a much stronger performance from our Ravens the next go around.

Bengals have had a top 5 roster for about 3-4 years. One of the reasons people are so hard on Dalton.

Too bad Harbs can't make smart decisions when the game is in progress like he can when he isn't watching. Exhibit A was when the Ravens didn't run the ball and the clock at the end of the Raider game then kick the field goal with about a minute and forty seconds to go and the Raiders without their last timeout. He is an excellent coach in everything except in game decisions. He costs the Ravens an average of two games every season by his terrible clock management and his lack of awareness. That is where Belicheat has it all over him. We still love him but it is hard to take sometimes when you are yelling at the TV to "run the ball!"

I agree.  I haven't read much about the poor clock management here.  But a completion to a wide open Smith would have in all accounts ended that game.  Yeah, the D was awful, but SOMETIMES an ELITE QB, has to bail the team out.  SOMETIMES.  Like the Ravens should be 2-0, instead of 0-2.  I do see a victory this week, however.   Hopefully, jump ball Joe won't screw it up again.

I think in theory it was a way for the team to be better prepared staying out west, adjusting to the weather and time change, and getting in a lot more practice time. However, I am sure the players want to be back with their families and you have to take morale into consideration. It was a learning experience for the team.

Like that's the problem, better find something else to do on game day there is nothing but but misfits on this team. Yanda will be the only pro bowl player this year.

Crusader, do you like the Ravens? Just curious.

I've been pointing this out for a loooong time now. Don't get me wrong, I don't want rid of Harbaugh. I just think, and have pointed out, that this is his weakness. Every coach and everybody else has strengths and weaknesses. This just happens to be Harbs' weakness. I've been hoping he would improve on this but, so far, I haven't noticed much progress. I have to tell you, though. Another might be his seemingly undying loyalty to his coaches. He should be more loyal to his team than his coaches. Just like he, Finally, let Cameron go during the season, I think he needs to do the same with Pees. Overall, though, I Still want Harbaugh as our HC.
