Week 3 - Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Flacco isn't as bad as most make him out to be, but he is also nowhere near worth the contract he got. That was just amazing timing for him.

This is right. But hes inconsistency begins with his footwork. He makes a lot of good decisions, but the type of throws he makes whether they be underthrown overthrown or just a plain miss makes you feel puzzled. But its because of his footwork. I have feeling when he thinks hes about to get sacked he becomes back foot Joe, but when he thinks he has time it looks good.

Pees was right. Defense isn't defined by 1 game. It is defined by 3 losses.

They deserve all of the blame for the divisional round loss too. I mean you could excuse them because of the injuries, but I think this season might be proof that it was more than that.

The reason why we didn't advance to the AFC Championship last year was because Jimmy was out.

The last 2 games, Jimmy hasn't been that special and the entire secondary is playing poorly.

We do not have a free safety. Hill is good, but not over the top. He has the be in the classic SS position to be effective.

You are correct. There is a significant difference when teams w/ young QB's like Dalton are afraid to throw deep b/c Ed Reed is roaming and when he is not.

Hill is an elite SS, imo, but he can't do it all. When you don't have an effective centre fielder it forces Hill to do much more than he should. Life after Reed is tough ...

To be clear, I don't blame Flacco, but he's not blameless in the situation. The garbage secondary and line play have been the true culprits.

I said a long time ago that Forsett was just a one year wonder....I mean how did we think a guy at the end of his career get his first 1000 yard season can continue to do it? I mean he's good but not starter good.

Flacco had the first down and KO screwed up

I don't understand why people are willing to sweep numerous bad throws in this game by Flacco under the rug, yet are quick to vilify any other player for making mistakes. I'm not a KO fan at this point, but I find that pretty weird. Flacco probably made as many bad throws in this game as he made good ones... The annoying thing is that we all know if someone like say, SSS, dropped a first-down or game-winning catch on that last drive, the same people who are protecting Flacco would crucify SSS despite the fact he was a one man show today...

Well only positive if we can beat Pitt minus Ben and then Clev I think we will be in decent shape with the back half of schedule being a little easier and more home games

but he's supposed to do everything!!!

and it's expected when you have a 36 year old SSS, Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken, Michael Campenaro (who is barely in the rotation), Crocket Gillmore (2nd year TE who originally billed himself as a blocking TE), Maxx Williams (Only on the field when Gillmore is apparently hurt). That offense has #1 written all over it.

36 rushing yards total

But blame flacco

That is unreal. I knew it was bad, but that is truly shocking.

Literally all of our offseason worst fears are being realized: Forsett isn't repeating, no one is replacing Torrey Smith, even though Webb and Smith are starting the secondary is still terrible, and Trestman is exactly who the Bears fans told us he was.

There might be some more that I'm missing...

and can we just point out the personal foul called on jeremy zuttah earlier in the game, when he made a routine football block? he is blocking upfield on a designed screen play, and blocks a would-be tackler with helmet contact, and its a personal foul for unnecessary roughness... im sorry, is this not football?

There were so many penalties that I can scarcely remember the details of any individual one.

Maybe because KO along with the entire team was amassing penalties. So to get a 15 yard penalty that eliminates a 1st down is very frustrating. Also because Flacco is always seen, you can see when he makes bad throws and good throws. With an o-line man, you only see bad plays.

Flacco definitely contributed when he threw the ball too low after SS's drop. That would have been a first down and that mess at the end might not have happened... or more likely it would have happened later.

Drops happen, bad passes happen, so I try not to harp on those. However the penalties are what kill me. Those penalties lose yards, momentum, and ultimately possesion of the ball.

Defense is in top 10 for most points allowed. Offense will be close to top 10 scoring after all games are played this week, likely break into top 15 scoring. Pees has got to go. I hope Colts fire Pagano and we bring him here.

because we see what joe flacco is forced to play with. wide receivers have one job, catch the ball, meanwhile the quarterback cannot do his job if the OL doesnt give him time, if the receivers cant get open, if the playcalling is atrocious and predictable, if the weapons consist of one player, etc. etc.

when joe flacco plays a game like this, we should win. if joe flacco plays a game like this with some speed at receiver or a rushing attack that wasnt completely nonexistent, we WILL win. joe flacco is working with NOTHING and is still putting us in a position to win, and getting let down over and over.

you see more mistakes from qb's than anyone else, because they are the only player to touch the ball every single play, a few mistakes are ok with a workload like what he has to deeal with, but when a whole WR corps fails to make themselves available for an entire game, and the offensive line commits one penalty after another, it should become CLEAR who is the real problem.. newsflash, it isnt flacco.

I can't get over this.

Didn't Andy Dalton have nearly that many yards on his 2 rushes? I know the net would be lower because he was sacked, but still.

Wow, just wow. Ozzie gambled on that secondary, and it's coming up snake eyes...again.

Yeah, I firmly believe the season as far as playoffs go is now over.  When you can't get up high enough off an 0-2 start to beat a division rival that has had your number, its history babeee!

When you don't have the personal to look anything but a bunch of stumble monkeys at home, you ain't gonna be around at the end of the year.

I'm about up to my eyebrows in praise of Ozzie "way past his prime" Newsome. Totally overfilled on that nonsense.  Ozzie started this downward spiral with the Superbowl Purge and his failure to carefully plan his way into the transition.

Marlon Brown lets a right there slant bounce off his hands as if they were buttered.

Jimmy Smith gets deked out of his cleats like he's never played the game. Tackles like Matt Elam and looks absolutely worthless. Let's se the PFF numbers on that nonsense.

Osemele makes a critical penalty that deprives us of a chance to comeback.

Wagner and Hurst let guys go like the dam has burst.

Theres more that I don't want to discuss, but in the end Oz is responsible for mismanaging this team. He needs to go now.

Don't care about Pees or the Secondary coach.  Give us Oz's head.

We want it NOW!

i remember this one specifically, because it is quite literally the WORST penalty i have ever seen in football. that referee should be embarrassed and ashamed for continuing the softening of football by calling a 15 yard penalty on a routine contact block on a run play

Hear hear. I might add that if you take Flacco's game today (imperfections, lack of help and all) but pair it with a defense that is just above average and this game would probably have been a win.

now that lewis, reed, suggs are gone, the defense is showing its true color. absolutely horrible. ozzie needs to do something. sad  to say but he hasn't been that good lately and banking on this group of WRs and CBs has come back to bite us
