[News] Late For Work 9/24: Could Marlon Brown Lose Snaps To Michael Campanaro?

65 posts in this topic

I can't agree the WR are bad, seeing Flacco did throw for 384 yards, and missed a wide open Aiken, who would have scored if the ball wasn't so badly under thrown, and threw a horrible pass to a wide open SSS in the endzone....We got 150 yards from our #1 in Smith, 88 from our #2 Aiken, and 85 plus from our #1 TE....That's pretty balanced for the base WR corp....

Pees needs to find a way to create a pass rush. Campanaro deservers a shot. Marlon has done almost nothing since his rookie year .

Campanaro should be used more. I don't care if it is marlon or kamar losing snaps or maybe a combination but Camp is a weapon and he creates mismatches. We need to get him on the field more. I would also like to see us use more two TE sets. With Gilmore playing well (and MAXX and BOYLE) on the squad... we need to take advantage of the fact the most teams will not have the LB's, S to match up with these guys, plus it will support Hurst in the blocking schemes and give Joe and extra target until Perriman is a go!

The addition of Davis and the return of Melvin makes me feel a little better but they have AJ Green and he will be a force to reckon with. We need to stop the run first! They have two good backs and will try to be balanced. We need to take away the run game and then get to Dalton. We CANNOT sit back and play soft again and let another mediocre QB pick us apart. Put pressure on Dalton and he will turn the ball over. something we have been missing vs the Bengals over the past three encounters! Stop the run! Get to Dalton. Should mean a lot of blitz packages this week. CMon Pees!

I say we spread the Bengals defense out with no Backs and 5 wide receiver sets. After Jones and Kirkpatrick who does the Bengals have that can cover a wide receiver or tight end like Gilmore?

I like Melvin, he plays hard! And idk why Campanaro isn't being used more. Yeah he's injury prone but he can get separation from the DBs which is exactly what we need.

I hate to say it but Marlon and Aiken just aren't producing like I expected. Get Camp in the mix

Aiken had over 80yds last week, I said before the season that I expect about 50yds a week out of Aiken, which would give him 800yds for the season.  Not a great number but decent. If he gets 70yds this week he will still be on track to get 800yds.

I said week one that I was expecting to see Camp, Forsett and Gillmore  to get a lot of the passes while Aiken and Smith were being covered by Talib and Harris.  Clearly that didn't happen, but last week we saw Gillmore get a bunch of passes go his way.  I think we need to get the other two more involved.  I was a little disappointed when i saw Camp only played 17 snaps last week.  Last season he was the best receiver not named Smith and they are barely using him.  And throwing to the running backs is supposed to be a staple of the Trestman offense, but we haven't seen much of it during these first two games.

Torrey/ Jacoby- We miss you. Corey Graham- We miss you too.

Melvin is better than Webb- hopefully, we'll turn things around, but I still think we lose against the Bungals because they are always physical with us. Sad to say, with all due respect to the Man, Steve Smith, but it is sad that our #1 WR is 36 years old- I don't know what Oz was thinking...

Ill take Wingo's bad news with a grain of salt.

on those 3 Ls: one was ridiculously lucky hail mary tip for a TD. the second was a bs OPI call on Smith Senior who scored the winning touchdown. and i dont even remember the third, so ill give them the benefit of the doubt and assume its legit.

regardless, nobody gets that luck 4 times in a row.

really thought we had found a gem in marlon 2 years ago. what happened marlon? you play soft. you have your chance to show that you are a force and are blowing it thus far along with aiken. you guys need to wake up. if they both stink it up again i would like to see sss waller and camp as the starting receivers against the steelers next thursday. t.o. and moss are ready :)

Have Melvin opposite jimmy with Arrington in the slot. No need to bench Arrington over Webb. I also think we should get Cassius Vaughn back since were looking for cb depth- he performed pretty well in the preseason. Would love to see camp more involved. Curious why he hasn't been up to this point. Also been waiting to see more double tight end sets and passes to the RBs. Get Maxx involved. Hell get everybody involved. Stop relying on 2 players and being so predictable. And throwing fade routes to a guy who's 5'9? I know it's been said a thousand times but it's common sense. We are beating ourselves.

If we can get the running game going it would make it easier for our WR's to get open!!! Its hard to get open when everyone knows that your most likely passing it.

The one wasn't exactly a hail mary. AJ Green was one-on-one with Chyke Brown, and he ran a 9 route down the sideline, but it was tipped and bobbled before it was caught. We also had about 8 or 9 drops in that game, and they still needed the lucky play to pull out the win. The 3rd that you're forgetting was when Flacco was hobbled with a sprained knee, so I wouldn't put much stock into that one either.

Campanaro an Waller need more playing time but flacco also needs to throw better balls an not throw off his back foot. Melvin is definitely needed because Webb isn't getting it done rite now. Webb mite end up playing better later because he was injured all preseason do we'll see. Pees an trestman need to have better game plans....period!!

I'm surprised that Campanaro hasn't already been getting more of Marlon's snaps. Camp has proven that he can get separation, and Marlon has proven that he can't. I also don't remember "Marlon having the opportunity to make plays and Flacco not putting the ball in the best spots." I think Zerbiac might be thinking of the preseason when Flacco overthrew him. The lob pass he threw him in Oakland was because he wasn't open, so Flacco gave him a chance to win a jump ball, which he failed to do. The Bengals are going to press our receivers with single coverage and send everyone at Joe, so I think Camp's ability to get quick separation could be a major difference maker.

Brown had a few chances week 1 but the O line stunk and Joe couldnt go to him...Back to lock on the # 1 WR Joe we all know and dont love

Can anyone tell me why Flacco is not throwing to other WR's and tight ends is there something wrong with them, are they not getting open, we have to be more than one dimensional folks if we plan on making it to the playoffs, I'm just saying!!!

I even drafted Camp in a few deep fantasy leagues as a sleeper because I liked his ability to get open. Surprised they aren't using him.

Here's what our offense is NOT doing although we have plenty of talent present. Why aren't we using FB screens?? Juice can def gain yards. Why aren't Camp and Waller getting more snaps?? What do we have to lose?? It's a long season and we need SSS to not go crazy. Lorenzo can always surprise you with a TD run so we need to use him often. Why not throw some screens to Maxx Williams? He seems crazy enough and plays with energy. We gotta be able to spread the LOVE!! We have enough weapons and apparently an offensive guru as Mr. Trestman so why aren't we seeing a complete usage of the offense?? Let's hope to see more contributions from every single player. Cheers!

Love the CB idea.... i Melvin might be better on the outside compared to Webb..... although Webb i think is starting to come on....

one of my dissapointments is Kyle Arringtion.... i never personally liked him but when you look at his stats they are really good.... My gut tells me no and my head says yes when it comes to Arrington....

Flacco you need to be more decisive with your read unless its tresman calling too many plays where routes take long to develop.... i think that may be part of the problem, some of the routes take forever to develop because lack of speed at times, and if you cant get it to them you dump it off the the backs, which isnt flaccos favorite thing to do.... he use to do it with ray rice but not recently....

if we ran the ball or had better play calling i think we would be in better shape....

overall i say we made a mistake by signing tresman but its to early to say that....

Whats wrong is that they're rarely getting seperation. If you have a chance to see ALL 22 video or atleast a wideangle overhead shot of just about any of our passing plays, our guys just aren't getting open enough to throw to. Overall, the route running looks lethargic.
