[News] Late For Work 9/24: Could Marlon Brown Lose Snaps To Michael Campanaro?

The secondary will be better if we quit playing 10 yards off the WRs let Jimmy and Melvin play press man on the outside and let Webb and Arrington play on the inside and that in my opinion will help. It's certainly better than getting dink and dunked down he field and leaving the defense on the field forever.

Since the Bengals have successfully shut down the #1 receivers in both games so far, we know exactly what's coming for SSS in coverage, although SSS intends to win those battles regardless. There is every reason to make Camp a target. We need to be unpredictable on offense. Bengals can't cover everybody and we know the defense will be focusing on SSS and we need to mix it up with the unexpected plays also. When our dynamo Gilmore gets his hands on the ball, Bengals will have trouble bring him down for sure. Camp is perfectly capable of contributing some great plays for us so let's get him more involved this week.

Ravens will have to be unpredictable in their play calling offensively and defensively. They have to find a way to win, will to win is imperative.

Unfortunately, that's not Pees's philosophy (bend don't break). We play soft to not give up big plays and when they get to the red zone we stifle them. Only Jimmy can play press coverage without getting beaten. Melvin - I am not sure since he hasn't been healthy.

wonder if harbs has asked the other def. coaches if they feel the schemes are soft. and not aggressive enough and on offense if harbs has thought to himself that aside from sss the receiving corps is the worst he has ever had thus far. maybe perriman will make a difference but he has a lot of catching up to do as far as real game experience. i still feel the fo should dangle a 4th or 5th and see what wr's they could get from other teams that would be better than marlon and kamar. roddy white comes to mind and we blew it with james jones

the problem is as soon as camp makes a catch or 2 he will be injured for 3 to 5 weeks. made of glass

Been calling for more snaps for Campanaro for a while now. Good grief, use him while he's healthy. I believe he's a better receiver than Brown. His Only problem is Staying on the field. But, the ability is Obviously there. And as for Melvin, I think he should be starting opposite Jimmy, as soon as he's ready health wise. Slide Webb in to the middle (slot). If Webb doesn't play there better than Arrington, bench him and put Arrington back in. Both Webb And Arrington need to improve.

How is this even debatable? If Campanero is healthy (that might only be about 20 plays on a given day) then he's our 100% full-time slot guy. When Brown's playing, well I guess we won't be getting much out of that position.

OK, some fans complain that Camp is too injury prone to play but I can't imagine that the Ravens would keep him on the roster unless they felt he was an offensive weapon beyond a KR guy who stands in the end zone to watch the ball sail out for a touch back 90% of the time. I don't understand the rationale of fans who say to not play Camp because he may get injured. Bottom line, if Camp gets hurt, he gets hurt, whether this week or another week. Camp can be a definite playmaker. This is a critical game for the Ravens against a division foe and we need this win badly. If Camp can contribute or open things up on the offense, we need to utilize him.

"These next 5 games for the Bengals are no cupcake. Ravens could set themselves up to gain ground quickly with a W."

I don't see any reason to look at any other team's schedule at this point. There is only one team we need to be concerned with and that's the Ravens.

If we don't play better, nothing anyone else does will matter.

Sitting here reading the comments, I really can't explain why I have a good feeling about this Sunday's game. The Denver game we almost won when we play against a very good defense, last Sunday we almost won if not for what I consider a very insignificant foul by Will Hill. I know people will say this or that about it, but in my opinion the ref's should not decide the outcomes of games. This Sunday, I think you will see the Ravens win and play a complete game. I think there will be some unexpected surprises we will do to Cincinnati. Go Ravens

Playing Devil's advocate, if you're going to mention penalties, you have to look within first.

Jernigan's inexcusable roughing the passer penalty surely didn't help the cause.

I agree that Jernigan's roughing the passer was inexcusably stupid, that was a penalty I called from my chair, but Will Hill's was not that flagrant of a foul.

I don't know why my response to 757RavensFan did not post. I agree that Jernigan's roughing the passer was stupid and inexcusable, but Will Hill's foul (if any) was not flagrant and that was my point.

The Ravens are in desperate need of that person to step up. Ravens defense used to be about shut outs, then it was bend not break, now it is bend at times but break at the end of the game. The offense has been known for last minute heroics, late game drives that led to winning scores, now both sides of the ball cant seem to get it done. We are in desperate need of one of our younger players to step up and dominate a game. We need M Brown, or Camp or Waller or Perriman to have a break out game and dominate, we need Terrance Brookes or CJ Mosley or Timmy Jernigan to become a force. We need our next dominant player to step forward and take control of this team. The older vets like Steve Smith, Canty and those guys are on their last run and we need our young guys to become superstars as Cincinnati has in AJ Green or the Steelers have in LeVeon Bell or Antonio Brown or the Giants have in Odell Beckham. Our young guys need to be the force that dictates how the Ravens will play in the next decade.

I don't see why you'll take snaps from Brown. How many passes was thrown his way? How many were bad passes? How many did he actually drop? Compared to Kamar I think Brown played a lot better when the ball was on target. If anything, Brown should be starting on the outside and put Kamar or Camp in the slot. I'll take Camp in the slot anyway or split the slot snaps between the two of them. We've seen what Brown has down when we put him on the outside. The guy can catch. Give him more snaps and I bet you he'll rip it up. Did we not forget the Vikings game? Lets get Brown on the field more. Kamar has really me under performing and I really like the guy. I think he's good but as a solid third receiver. I think Brown can really be a solid number 2 to compliment SSS.

I think Waller will be a force once he gets a catch. He was targeted twice and on the TD try it was a little wonky (I can't remember if the corner mugged him, or the ball was a bit off, or too far out of bounds for an easy peasy catch) (I don't remember the other target from Sunday, and am taking the word of the article writer there was another target). He looks like he needs a confidence booster catch and then targets IMHO. He is so big that the other teams players look a bit out of place next to him. I'm praying for you big guy, I hope Trestman finds some plays for you on Sunday. He could be a force if developed properly, but the hard reality is he needs development (his raw talent is obvious). I hope he is taking every chance he gets to get advice from SSS while he has the opportunity. It seems like SSS has been mentoring the receiving corps from his various comments.

The media line has been that Joe wasn't sacked and the pocket was there, and it was much better than Week 1, but boy was it close a lot on Sunday. I think Joe needs another 1/2 second to get cleaner throws off this week. Others have mentioned this, but I think we need a reminder, Joe needs better protection. The media may not be pushing this story line to keep the idea out of the head that the line in week 2 was still not where it was in protecting Joe last year. I'm hopeful it will gel a little more on Sunday.

ill take campanaro over any wr on this team not named steve, every day of the week "and twice on sunday", without question. he is by far the 2nd most talented active wr on the roster right now.

Put he Monster Receiver Set on the field at the same time - Brown, Waller, Gilmore & Boyle. With that much size/beef on the field, the secondary would be outmatched (maybe not by speed though).
