[News] Ravens Need To Finish To Turn Season Around

43 posts in this topic

The Ravens just stumbled out the gate but they are about to hit their stride! I seen too many positives to give up my Squad and ready to get grimy with them! "RELENTLESS"

It took the Saints two days on Drew Brees shoulder to get a second opinion from James Andrews. It's been 3 months and we haven't gotten one on Perriman?

Yes we did.  He had an MRI during training camp.  Not sure if it was with a different doctor, but it certainly was another test to make sure nothing more serious occurred.

I'm not a coach, but I have to agree with many of the people on this board... why does the secondary play so far off on the snap? The balls are being thrown so quickly, and you can't get interceptions or anything. I have heard Pees saying a couple of years ago that he doesn't care about yards that we give up. Well yards can easily turn into points. If they jam up these receivers, QBs won't be as comfortable. The domino effect is more sacks, more interceptions, and better defensive plays overall. The other point is that penalties will be the end of the Ravens. The game may have had a whole different outcome if Jernigan didn't give up that boneheaded roughing the passer penalty near the end. What a dummy!

I agree with this post. The cushion our defenders give to recovers has been second guessed plenty on here. That cushion is a big problem. Pees doesn't care about yards that we give up!??! It takes time to gain those yards we give up, so I guess he doesn't care about the Time of Possession either, although it often affects the outcome of the game. The longer our opponent's offense is off the field, obviously, the more they can't score, and the longer our offense is on the field, the more chances we have to score. That's simply common sense. Winning the TOP, also, keeps our defense fresher and less tired. Every time they show a shot of Pees up in his booth he looks exactly the same, regardless of what's happening on the field. It's almost like it's just a picture of him, not really him. I sure hope he coaches with more enthusiasm than he shows in that booth. Another thing that gets talked about plenty on here is firing Pees. Boy, I'm all for that. I just think his "bend but don't break" defense is totally ineffective and is greatly hurting this team. I wish Harbs would fire him even more than I wanted him to fire Cam Cameran. It's past time for him to go. What are you waiting for, Harbs. Time to send a Real message and to, also, give our defense some hope.

Sorry, obviously, I meant the cushion given to receivers, not recovers. Not enough coffee yet, Again.

Just so you know you can go back and edit your own quotes.

At the beginning of the season I predicted we'd go 10-6 in 2015. Hoped for 11-5, feared for 9-7. In all of those predictions I had us 1-1 after 2 weeks. 2-2 after 4 weeks. Basically we are just 1 game behind from my 11-5 season prediction. What I'm trying to say is, NOTHING IS LOST YET!

We've had strong outings from both offense and defense so we know the potential is there. Now it's up to the team to make the changes and generate these results constantly. They are professionals in their field and I'm sure they are capable of doing it.

More than anything else our next game will show us if we can be good on all faces of the game and our next after that will show us if we can do that away from home.

Even if we are are 1-3 after those games, but the team shows some consistency over the next two weeks, everything is still possible!

For me it's not about being 0-2, it's about how we are playing, i just don't see the swagger, or the will to win....The Defense was exposed badly in Oakland, the offense needs the killer instinct to finish off drives with TD's and not FG's...But it's only 2 weeks into the season, so this week will say a lot about this Ravens team....

I will welcome the day when my confidence returns in the defense being able to make a stop/finish as time winds down at the end of the game. I hate feeling that sense of dread when the defense takes the field to get the ball back or just stop a team from marching down the field and scoring. This sense of dread reflects a lack of confidence in our defense, which I hate feeling. I NEVER used to feel that way about our defense til last year. I am so hoping that the defense has a strong showing Sunday to return with some of their swagger and confidence that is a key part of our Ravens culture. A win on Sunday will help turn the corner in getting some swagger back. FINISH and good things will follow.

I understand all the, if only we had played better and done this instead of that and I'm not trying to disagree, but what really annoys me has been the lack of challenge flags near the end of the games.  Pass interference should have been called in the Denver game because the defender didn't turn around to look for the ball and the holding call should have at least been challenged, although I think Hill probably did cough the ball up to Oakland.  Should have just went down himself.  As far as Pees is concerned; I tried to give the benefit of the doubt after how the defense played against Denver, but that seems to have been a fluke.

Colts, Seahawks and Eagles are all 0-2, but still have hope.  There's still hope for Ravens too.

Blah blah blan. More of the same crap. Flacco is a flawed quarterback who plays elite ball only in the playoffs. He cannot carry the team like Brady, or Roethlisberger. While a really elite quarterback would have overcome the issues of the last two weeks, he added to them. That awful pass in Denver that resulted in a td, then another wounded bird throw up for grabs in the end zone killed our chances for victory, but, both of these games were lost by a soft defense, unable to stop the run and unwilling to challenge receivers at the line of scrimmage. Playing a stupid zone when the opposition is on your 10 yard line is just plain stupid. Every other team would have a defender assigned to a receiver in that situation. Not Pees. He is an idiot.

I appreciate or past but it's the present that i'm focused on since we 0-2. This is gut check time for our team. We at home for the first time since training camp but i know that doesn't count, yet we need this game at home to start our comeback from near disaster.
