[News] Ravens Need To Finish To Turn Season Around

43 posts in this topic

If we give the other team's receivers 10-15 yards on each snap, well, it's no wonder they can move down the field and score. I hope Babin gives Dalton a headache. But we have to have CB's play tight once in a while for it to work.

If a game can hinge or 1 or 2 plays at any given point in the game, somebody needs to also remind the Ravens personnel in charge of the replay review. There was the most obvious "2 feet in with control of the ball" long catch by SSS against the Raiders to the sideline early in the Raiders game. (Not the TD pass later). . Refs ruled it incomplete. It was obvious right away on replay that the call should have been overturned. Ravens blew it and did not throw the challenge flag after having plenty of time to see the replay multiple times. The outcome of a game can swing on an offensive or defensive big play and it can swing on bad or missed challenges or any crazy factor. We have no margin of error to be asleep at the wheel in the replay booth and let obvious huge gains be incorrectly negated. We are at home so no excuses about replay availability. If the refs make a bad call which is not in a gray area, please get the challenges right. You never know which oversight or failure could cost you the game. Every point scored will be precious and every opportunity must be seized, not just by the players, but by every coach and assistant in order to FINISH against the Bengals. ALL hands on deck.

Well....IMO...It's about the defense showing up, anytime we put up 33 points, the defense needs to make that stand.....In Denver both defenses played stout and didn't give either offensive a lot to play with, we should be used to games like that playing in the AFCN....It's about playing solid defense for 4 quarters, and having enough offense to put some points on the board, and at times it's going to look ugly and the offense only scores 13-16 points, but our past defenses have made that good enough for a win....Get back to Ravens ball, pound the ball, and stout D....

There is no need to panic fellow Ravens fans. If we were getting blown out or looked awful in those two losses (i.e. Colts and Eagles) I would be worried. Both losses were close games. We're just a catch or a playcall away from winning those two games. Going into our division games is perfect timing to get things right and we will be 3-2 before going on the west coast again and take on niners and the Cardinals. This time we'll hit the coast fast, physical and pi**ed off! Rise and Conquer.

Try to use clock better next time. Don't make two consecutive passes when running once or twice for a first down would end the game or at least make it difficult for the other team to win.

Stop relying on Tucker. Every time Tucker makes a FG the offense is leaving 4 points on the field. Finish those drives off with TDs, especially those at the end of the 1st half and at the end of the game. Tucker is most valuable in those game winning FG situations. Defense, get some 3 & outs and stops at the end of the half and end of the game. More 3 & outs during a game would do wonders for the D and O. More press coverage by CBs could help get the 3 & outs.

The Ravens may not do is this week, next week or during the season but Pees has to go.

There is enough talent on this defense to be a top 5 defense. Ever since Pees and Mattison Generations of Defenses, the last half decade plus ish...the Ravens defense has taken two steps back and has been a major let down. Pees every sunday plays that bend but dont break patriots style give 7-10 yrd free releases to WRs and tackle in open space soft reactive defensive Defense.

Thats not Ravens Defense.

Ravens are a Attacking style "Organized Chaos" Style Rex Ryan, Chuck Pagano Style Ecotic blitz happy defense. The defense that makes household names out of nobodies like Adalius Thomas,Kelly Greg,Jarrett Johnson.etc

You cant tell me with a straight face if we hired Rex bloodline D coordinator coach maybe his brother, or Jim Schwartz, or Pagano back if hes let go at end of yr in INDY etc... No names like Zdarius Smith, KLM, Art Brown etc wouldnt become household names...

Im willing to bet money on it

Pees has to go... Ravens D needs its Swagger and Attitude back it hasnt had that for years. And if Harbs has a problem with that he can go too

I haven't been this uncomfortable about a Ravens game since...uh, week 1's match up with Denver. I figured we'd lose by 20 points. This week I see a Bengals team that wants desperately to put the Ravens away. We need to score touchdowns on as many drives as possible. If that means going for it on 4th and 3 from the 5 yard line, then so be it. The Bengals will be scoring TD's so we'd better get our red-zone packages in top gear for this game!

If they [Offense & Defense] both show up we Win...In my opinion. Game 1: Championship Defense

Game 2: Championship Offense. Also, seemed like Dumervil didnt ratchet-up his play at all, afer missing Suggs. He was a nonfactor in the game against Oakland/Carr. Another Big Issue is the defensive play calling or lack there of: ...3 man rushes?...5-10yd cushion on opposing Wrs? What exactly is our D.Coordinator doing? Obviously they dont trust the Dbs to do press but still that is better then letting Wrs run untouched clean routes like they are in no contact practice or somthing. that is Crap!. Our defense under that style of play is bs. This team isnt scaring anyone and every team in the league knows by watching tape on us that they can run about anything they want to against us without even getting uniforms dirty. I would rather gamble on blitzes sometimes and try to do anything to press/jam and disrupt timing, not make every play a free play on every down. Its starting to feel like Deam Pees can only command a Defense if its stocked with marque players. He is the Cam Cameron of our D. He doesnt know how to re-vamp a playbook based on the current talent provided. That is a real problem, one that coaches like Belechik understand how to manipulate. This ..."Bend But Dont Break" Defense is absolute garbage with the current personnel. He cant even make viable adjustments during halftime. what the deal?! Something needs to change really fast or this season in in the gutter by week5 and playing for next yrs draft. They really need to be i think keeping an eye out for a new DC. Im not for jettisoning coaches during the season, but we have dont it before and now seems like a time to think about it again.

PS. Many pundits/analysts had us ranked highly, even SB bound this year, with who we have!

I agree we are still playing defense with concepts for the 90's. Everyone is getting the ball out quick. We have a great D-line but three step drop and the shotgun is killing us. I am so tired of seeing a 3rd and 5 and our CB's are 10 yards deep. The Prevent defense no longer work STOP USING IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I say Pees doesn't make it to next season, his scheme is stupid and doesnt work, he doesn't make adjustments, and it doesn't seem he's doing anything about it. QUIT WITH THE ZONE COVERAGE...IT DOESN'T WORK!

The coaches need to finish as well, for example we went for the touchdown twice in Denver, when we still gad a opportunity to get a first down as far as Oak poor clock management, poor play calling, using a unnecessary timeout and kicking the ball off the field from the 50yd line was bone headed. So the players as well as the coaches need to get better towards the end.

Please no run on 1st and 2nd pass on 3rd and punt!

Pass on 1st 2nd and 3rd and run every 4 to five plays and it will get this "TEAM" going!

I'm not a coach, but I have to agree with many of the people on this board... why does the secondary play so far off on the snap? The balls are being thrown so quickly, and you can't get interceptions or anything. I have heard Pees saying a couple of years ago that he doesn't care about yards that we give up. Well yards can easily turn into points. If they jam up these receivers, QBs won't be as comfortable. The domino effect is more sacks, more interceptions, and better defensive plays overall. The other point is that penalties will be the end of the Ravens. The game may have had a whole different outcome if Jernigan didn't give up that boneheaded roughing the passer penalty near the end. What a dummy!

Something I looked up, even though the Ravens aren't in a great position, if you look at our games, I find a positive that we were one play away from winning or increasing our chances to win in both of our games. But What I looked up is out of all the 0-2 teams, which there are 9 teams that have an 0-2 record, The Ravens are second with closest point differential in both those games. Our net score is -10. Only the Giants have a better net score with -8. But with how close our games are I am excited because I know and the players know the season isn't close to over and the year is still wide open. GO RAVENS.

-Also lets all keep Breshad Perriman in our prayers to get better, (aka, our offense's productivity) with his speed making defenses playing off him playing the deep ball that opens up the field.

We are in these games.  When you look at the misfortune, the last minute of the prior games has been our black hole.  I would say our Offense lost to Denver and the D for Oakland.  Time for the coaches to change game plans and prepare to hold the games and win at the end. At the end of the season its W or L not how close we were. When I attend the Browns game I want a Ravens coaching staff planning on a 3-2 record.

Dean Peas has the most uninspiring defensive schemes.

True.  I think he depends entirelly on the pass rush and wants the secondary for cover rather than intercept and game change conditions.
