marlon and kamar just do not seem to be there for joe when he needs them like mason heap boldin and torrey were. need more maxx williams and gilmore.

Yes, I want trestman to make formations with both Gillmore and Maxx on the field.

This is going to be a tough game. Marvin Lewis knows how to get at Flacco and how to limit his receivers. We win if someone has a breakout - Maxx Williams, Aiken or Brown because I expect Forsett, SSS, and Gilmore to be smothered.

Defense will need to be perfect and a victory will require a 2-0 advantage in turnovers.

I think if we win some future leaders may be defined. If we lose than the hot seat for both players and assistant coaches will be in play.

I hope the team realized that Gillmore is the leader of the offense, and our other guys need to rally around him and help make plays. Guys like M. Brown who is clutch, Maxx, and Aiken. If I were them every time I see Gillmore make a catch I would run towards him to knock off any guys tying to tackle him. Trestman should make that part of the offense strategy. Whenever Gilmore catches a pass help block off defenders!

isn't that always the strategy when players make catches? Lol

Good thing to know that Average Joe "hasn't played like to his usual self" in the Bengals games. Great news.

Joe needs to start getting more yardage and that means Pass Pass Pass! Can Joe get "Player of the week"?! Tired of watching big Ben and Antonio Brown get all the accolades! : (

Sarah,, you may be wrong about this not being a must win game. John Harbaugh's philosophy is that the Ravens win at home and against division competitors. This fits the criteria of both. That's not s sign of panic, just the reality that we've lost two away games against nondivision competitors, which is not good, but not bad.

Let's be real here folks. We are 0-2 and the Bengals are coming to B-More. They swept us last year and they look very good this year. We lose this game and our season might be over unless we get CRAZY HOT and go on an unexpected winning streak which this team has not showed if they're capable of doing so. After Cincy, we have a short week and gotta travel to PIT for a Thursday night game. THIS SUNDAY IS A MUST WIN GAME PERIOD

Seems like the Bengals are a must-win to me. Road teams almost always lose Thursday night games (unless the hometeam Chiefs give it away), which is when we will play week 4 @Pittsburgh. NFL should not schedule such important divisional games on a Thursday... (really there should be no games on Thurs). If we lose to the Bengals, it is almost certain we start 0-4.

Of course this is a must win game. Players and coaches need to realize that. 0-3, 0-1 in the division with a road trip to Steelers. This is a game where you have to make the play when you have the opportunity. Not going for it on 4th down in your own territory, no turnovers, costly penalties, great running game, give Joe time. It will be interesting to see who steps up in front of the home crowd. It's time and long over due to beat the Bengals.

The Ravens that showed up in denver will be the team that will show up in Bmore Sunday at 1pm! They at home sleeping in their own beds relaxing and refocusing! Some of you forgot the word "RELENTLESS"

it applies to the fans as well!

I'll have to disagree with Sunday not being must win. We've got to get some momentum going into pit, if we can hand our whole division a loss the next few weeks, we have a chance to get back into it.

Hopefully the D, the O was abysmal.

Earl Weaver said that "when you lose a game you have to win two to make up for it". I don't want to be sweating it out come November knowing we have to win out to maybe make the playoffs as a wildcard. The Ravens have to win Sunday. Every game is a must win in our division, Sarah. We can't play catch up in the AFC North. The question is can we beat the other teams in our division? Come Sunday, we'll get a feeling for it.

Joe needs more than SSS to rely on to get separation. Marlon dropped a key pass this week, and hasnt shown much since his rookie year. Yes, I do understand he didnt play as much last year. Aiken fumbled on the first play from scrimmage, which set up a Raiders field goal. Just not very reliable.

that start is what killed us. It gave the raiders hope that they could actually beat us instead of jumping on them and getting the "here we go again" feeling in their head. The ability to start games off and finish games off is something we continue to struggle with. It's like we start off cold in the beginning , play well for a few quarters and then get tired near the end.

Here is Marvin Lewis game planning for our receiving corps...  :th_grapes:

The only problem with that is the Ravens that showed up in Denver lost too. I want the Ravens that WIN to show up on Sunday.

I know Joe has had game winning drives but to be the best at converting TDs is surprising. Joe's clutch-metrics haven't been good last 3 games unfortunately. A closer look at the parameters used to reach the conclusion makes me wonder if those were the parameters that had to be used to get Joe rating the best. Obviously these parameters exclude game winning FG drives and are specifically 3 minutes, not 2 or 4 minutes. I wonder if Joe is still the leader using any of these parameters. Nonetheless, save for Rodgers, Brady, or Big Ben, I'll take Flacco over anyone else in these situations. Go Ravens!

Kind of an interesting stat.  I know a lot of fans would use the criteria that their qb had the most comebacks last season, or they have had a lot since the started.  I always used the argued that only proves they were behind on a normal basis, and that is also on the qb.

I just find it funny that people were all about tearing Torrey a new one because he didn't get a good jump on the ball but after these past two games Joe has been everyone's main focus.  That pass to Torrey was questionable to begin with and it was thrown a little too far. But Steve Smith lets a ball bounce off of his facemask and Gillmore fails to grab for a ball that is right in front of him and it gets intercepted, but that's on Flacco.  Sure that second pass could have been a little longer but its a ball you need to snatch out of the air if you want to remain a starter in this league.   And than last week Steve seems to have plenty of room to get his foot down to make a catch, but he steps out and that's on Joe.  Some people say he shouldn't have lofted the ball in there, but that't probably how the play was drawn up.  Trestman should have had Brown over there, because that's a pass designed for taller receivers.  And than during the last possession Steve seemed to slow down after Flacco threw it.  That seems like a weird thing to do when you need to go 80 yds in like 40 seconds.   I doubt it would have been completed but with three defenders closing there's a good chance one of them would have touched Steve enough to get PI called against them.

Our receiving corps is what worries me the most against Cinci, just like it did against Denver. We have no speed and no playmakers, and only one guy who can consistently get separation, but he was shut down against a good corner in Denver. The Bengals have good corners, and I'm worried that they will be able to keep their safeties up close to stop the run game, contain our WRs with single press coverage, and send everyone at Joe, giving Joe no time to throw with no one open to throw to. I think we need a spread, up tempo offense to try to wear their pass rush out and keep their defense out of rhythm. If we try to do the same thing we did in Denver, we have no chance.

Rodgers, Brady, and Ben all have had much better receiving corps than Flacco. There have also been a bunch of key drops that have cost Flacco game winning TDs, so I really don't think the stats are skewed in Flacco's favor at all. I think he really is the best in those situations, as the stats say, and if you consider the lack of talent he's had to throw to compared to the other qbs on that list, he's that much better.

Ray's face was Priceless! He must have just seen the Text that we lost to the Raiders...I disagree with this game not being a "must win" game. You can't assume we will win all games outside of the AFC north. We always lay a duck or 2 each year, we already did so to the Raiders which is early in the season for us, so now we only have 1 left. A conference opponent at home this week should be treated like a MUST WIN.

Hensley I have to disagree. Less than 1% of teams starting 0-3 make it to the postseason. By losing this game we become part of the 1. So when is a game considered a must win?
