[News] Eisenberg: Playoffs? How About One Win First?

42 posts in this topic

Yup...one game at a time. There is a positive from all this: an opportunity to learn early from mistakes and adjust accordingly. It's nose to grindstone time.

One of the important qualities in a football player is to be able to forget the last play, last quarter, last game... If you messed up, don't dwell, there's the next snap ahead. Nothing but that one play. Don't think too far ahead... If you're in defense, you still want the mentality of not only 4-and-out, but that it's your ball! You want it. Go get it. Catch an interception. Force a fumble. Recover the ball. And on offense, remember who you are! You are Ravens. It doesn't matter that you're offense, you want to punish. Is there no gap? Whatever, just bruise the D and ram the player ahead... like what Crockett Gilmore showed with his TD, taking himself, the ball and whole of Raiders defense hanging off him into the end zone.

a 36 year old receiver with no name WRs, forget the playoffs...This is the Torrey Smith curse at its best. We could've used his leadership at a time like this- we will be 0-3 after next week unfortunately- the Bengals are for real even if it's at home.

Look at the teams that are 0-2 this year so far.... hmmmm.. and look at the schedules and how they are set up... I gotta tell ya... The very fact that after Week 1, Teams that are always at the bottom of the pile like, the Jags, Raiders, Bucs, Browns, Redskins; They all win in Week 2? Teams like Ravens, Seahawks, Bears, Lions, Eagles, etc. etc. etc.... 8 teams go 0-2... Just seems weird.

Was it a fluke? Just sayin.

We replaced Cam Cameron as OC during the 2012 with Jim Caldwell and won the Super Bowl. Who can we replace Dean Pees with this year as DC to provide that spark.

Dude, I am so SICK of hearing about the "leaders" who ar eno longer with the Ravens. For Pete's sake, it's the COACHES' job to be a leader, prepare these players, and inspire them. And in addition, there are plenty of veterans on BOTH sides of the ball who can step in and fill that player role. So SHUT THE HECK UP ABOUT WHO IS NOT HERE ANYMORE. We get it. Now can we please move on and get ready to whip Cincy on Sunday?

And in the words of Aaron Rogers...R-E-L-A-X...Relax! It's 2 games. If everything was determined on funky stats (only x percent of teams who won on the 3rd Sunday in October at 1pm, on the road, and flew home 2 hours after the game, ate at Denny's, and only got 5 hour sleep have made the playoffs in the Super Bowl era), then why do we play the games? Yeah, we're 0-2, and it SUCKS because we have the talent and had the opportunities to be 2-0. So what? Next game, next man up, we win 1 and keep it moving.

With Terrell Suggs down and no Ed Reed, or Ray Lewis, and Haloti Nagta all gone it seems the Ravens have lost their core players that have held things together for so long. The veteran leadership has now dwindled away and with no one to step up and assume the role the team is losing their focus. You have a bland group of players now playing vanilla football. Someone needs to step up it should be Joe but he said he wasn't going to do it.

We are playing vanilla football because of the coaching and scheme.  That's what they are puttign together.  Everyone you mention, Suggs, Ray, Ed, Haloti, had played with the Ravens long enough to play under a different style of DC (Marvin, Rex, Pagano) so they could freelance and basically run things from the field and make adjustments as needed.  We don't have that experience now, so the DC and HC have to teach these guys what "Ravens Football" is about.  We have the talent, we need the teachers.

Couple points: Why is it so difficult for analysts to understand that just because you dont generate pressure doens't mean its only the pass rushes fault. What the raiders did to us is exactly what the Bengals have done to us since Hue Jackson became their coordinator. The patriots do it to us every year. The Steelers seemingly figured it out last year too. When a quarterback gets rid of the ball on average at about 2 seconds there is no player in the world who can get to the quarterback. the raiders knew they stood no chance, even without going against Suggs, if they're making Carr do 5 and 7 step drops every pass play... There's not really a 'gameplan' to stop these types of finesse offenses. What does stop them, and Harbaugh said it in the press conference, is executing and playing funadmentally sound football. It comes down to tackling and knowing your assignment. The people who are blaming Dean Peas are just lacking very basic football intelligence. First off, he is one of the most respected defensive coordinators in the league (who would know better than any of us). Second, he just stiffed Peyton Manning last week, a much more impressive task where it was him vs Kubiak/Manning, the greatest offensive coordinator ever(referring to Manning). Bottom line is our defense didn't execute. Both the players and coaches will admit that. Missed tackles and blown coverage's along with stupid and untimely penalties (IM CALLING YOU OUT JERNIGAN, YOU FOOL!) lost us the game NOT DEAN PEAS. Lastly, I think we made a huge mistake staying out West in between games. When I heard our coaches and player whining about being in Philly too long I thought this was the wrong move. The players clearly didn't react well to it, as we were not ready to play AT ALL.

The "P" word? As in "Pathetic" coaching, play calling, preparation and effort? If the Ravens fall to Cincy this week at home, it's all over but the jockeying for the Draft next year. And maybe get to play spoiler to some other teams. Of course, to play spoiler, that would require winning a game or two to actually work.

What are you talking about Torrey Smith curse and he could be a leader? I don't think so. Torrey was a nice guy and all but not really a vocal leader. Please! To me he wasn't worth 40 million and obviously to FO he wasn't worth 40 million. We haven't even seen Breshad play yet. Give it a rest. Breshad's going to light it up when he comes back. Wasn't like Torrey was the best route runner. Get Waller going and we could really have something. Enough with Torrey. Nice guy and all but NO LONGER a Raven.

Gotta keep Joe in the shotgun with Forsett by his side and three WRs, four will only jam it up and let Joe "LOOSE"! They can run every six plays and let Joe open it up he not playing the same use to get crazy yardage now he barely break 200yds! I know I've been hard on him but if he can't open it up its a wrap on the season and just sit back and watch Antonio Brown ball out instead of our own players!

Every year, its a John Harbaugh tradition a loss to a team we have no BUSINESS LOSING TO! It happens every year.

How many times have we won the division during John H era, we're always playing second fiddle to the Bengals or Steelers!! That makes me sick!!!!!!!

Couple points:  As has been mentioned in previous posts - DEN couldn't get out of it's own way until they made adjustments in the 2nd half of the KC game.  After that, they lit it up.  I'm not giving any credit to Pees.  I've been watching Ravens football too long to not recognize that the scheme under Pees is soft, and it kills us not having experienced players to make adjustments when the DC screws up.

With regards to Pees being one of the "most respected DCs in the league", I'll refer to your opening line...these analysts have no clue what they are talking about.  So, what you're trying to say is how much his 17th ranked defense helped us win the SB? (Just FYI, that very same defense unnder Pagano ranked 3rd the previous season) Listen, maybe some folks are satisfied with a top 15 or 20 defense.  I, for one, am not.  I am accustomed to a top 5 defense in Baltimore.  That comes from coaching.  And Pees has been baield out in the past by our experienced future hall of famers.  They aren't here to bail him out anymore.  And it shows.

2 games into the season and we're already dialing up wildcard scenarios. This was a year we could have won the division and seized one of the BYE weeks. Indy is 0-2 and Manning looks like he's throwing left-handed Frisbees out there. It was there for the taking and we might have already blown it.

Listen.... the start has been dismal at best and we played awful on offense in week # 1. To make matters worse... we played even worse then that on defense in week # 2 vs a mediocre team at best. However... I have said his all along. IF we win our Division games and our home games.... WE are in the play offs. Take care of business at home and take care of business in our own division... and we are right where we want to be. The problem is I haven't seen much to make me think we can accomplish either task at this point.... but this is one of the best organizations in the NFL. We have talent and one of the best, most consistent coaches in the NFL... Finally we have experience and have overcome adversity before. IF there is a team in the NFL who is suited to right the ship... you can find it here in BMORE... but our backs are to the wall now and it is time to come out swinging. No more bend but don't break DPEES football. We need to attack and stay aggressive... and we need to bring some of these young guys along quickly.
