Ray on the Sidelines?

61 posts in this topic

When Ray left we not only lost a talented Middle Linebacker, we lost our inspirational leader.  Those who think that is not important, have probably never engaged in a team sport.  It is invaluable to have a teammate fire you up, pat you on the back when you mess up. remind you of the present situation, etc.  Although it was said that Suggs took over the role when Ray left, there is no way he equaled Rays leadership.  Now that Suggs is gone also, there is a void on the team.  How could it hurt to have Ray there to help motivate the Ravens?  If we lose our next game with the Bengals, we can most likely kiss this season goodbye.

Problem though is that while Ray would certainly get our guys motivated, we could become dependent on him motivating us every single time we hit a rough patch in the future. As good as Ray is, we need to move on and become self sufficient in that department because Ray has too much other stuff to do nowadays to keep coming here and motivating us every time we have a problem. If he comes back as a coach for us that is one thing(and would love to see him come back if he wants to) but we can open that can of worms if Ray gets into coaching.
