[News] Ravens Trade For Cornerback Will Davis

105 posts in this topic

Ben thrives on time in the pocket....he's gonna be cooking smores against our pass rush and Antonio Brown is gonna feast. Boy that is gonna be an ugly sight if the secondary doesn't tighten up FAST.

@SCOTTSDALE RAVENS FAN ! : CQ1 In all due respect, I don't think getting rid of one of the most solid (whether Elite or not) QBs in the NFL make sense on ANY level. His contract will certainly be restructured to reduce his cap hit. Can any fan that has been through the Vinny to Flacco years really want to go back to those days? Really, I mean Really (in the best Amy Poehler voice)

Good points, Scottsdale :), I just get so frustrated with his play- or lack there of at times. I am just venting on here, in my own way- hence the "over reaction" scenario.

Our secondary played horrible yesterday, just could not get any stops on 3rd, and they played so well in the Denver game, not for sure what happened, I don't think it was because Suggs was not playing.

POSSIBLE OVER REACTION: It may be time to rebuild. Flacco is due 26 mil. Lets get some tools with that green, and perhaps see what QB's may loom in the draft.

EDIT:  Never mind just saw the disclaimer lol.

Not for nothing, but I've said all along that Pees was a horrible choice for DC, just as Greg Mattison was. They both employ soft, vanilla schemes that do not get the best out of our players. Yes, we did somehow still manage to generate a great pass rush last year, but that was not thanks to Pees, that was thanks to some great talent, of whom three key players (Suggs, Ngata, McPhee) are now gone.

I don't know what you gain exactly from this move. I don't even know why they felt they needed to pick up this guy, he hasn't been playing for some reason. You worked the heck out of Steve Smith Sr. against Oakland. Although he dropped the pass in the endzone for the second straight week, Steve Smith Sr. worked on Sunday 150 yards. It's clear to me that triple S and Crockett Gilmore are clearly the pas catchers on this team. Sure Kamar and Marlon Brown made plays here and there, but I still think we need a solid #2.

Our defense disintegrated, yesterday. No pass rush that allowed a 2nd.yr.QB to stand back there and carve us up at leisure. He's no Big Ben nor Dalton. The corners play so far off they should be given spyglasses. This season could be over rather quickly. Repeat performances the next two weeks and we're 0-4. I bought into the preseason hype and believed we could go to the SB. Now, I think the window could close on a winning season.

Im with you on this one, in my opinion we got players who can play better than how we performed yesterday but we need to bring in an aggressive defensive mind like Jim Schwartz, Dean Pees is not cutting it for me, way too soft

Everyone just relax. There are a lot of other "good" teams out there that are now sitting at 0-2. It's the NFL. I'm sure the coaches and front office are reassesing things. There are some glaring needs. Lets just see what happens from here.

I think they are over looking the real issue with our defense and that's Dean Pees. He has been the issue for far to long now it's just that our pass rush was saving him now that's gone and there is no way he can just sit back and play cover 2 now he will have to be more aggressive but that's not him he is to conservative. PERIOD!!!

It looked to me like that "rough day" for the defense was mainly because our defensive line couldn't get any pressure on the QB. NO CB can cover a guy forever.

I think history is fairly clear with coaching expectations. Losing four in a row is a hot seat and that is a risk right now. Cost Brian Billick in 2007, remember when he lost to the winless Miami Dolphins, and Billick was on a new five year deal. Cost Cam Cameron in 2012 when the Ravens dumped four in a row after a 9-2 start. Others were on the seat too, I believe Flacco, Caldwell, and Boldin were all at risk, Boldin proved to not survive.

So starting this year 0-2 is hot seat. Harbaugh having his players study film on the plane, yea, there is some coaching hot seat for Pees. 0-4 and I believe Pee's is gone right after the game like it was for Cam Cameron. The fact that Harbaugh is mad may force Pees out at year end anyway, no matter what. Ladarius Webb is likely gone as well.

Pees and Trestman were outcoached yesterday by a bad football team hate to see what they will do when we play better teams. The last drive yesterday when we should of scored a TD there was some terrible offensive play calling, we had the ball inside the 20 and has Flacco roll to his left turn around and throw the ball across the field (dangerous play) to Gillmore for a yard gain? I was like what the heck was that call? Flacco has a strong arm maybe the strongest in the league and he has him lobbing it in the air giving opponents a easy chance for a int just like last week in Denver grrrr feel like Cam is back again

I tried not to doubt Dean Pees but it seems that he is no more than a Gregg Mattison clone. Anyone that thinks rushing three is supposed to accomplish anything other than wearing down a few of your oun D Linemen is basically stupid. I hate to see someone Rush Three, and rushing two means you are a blatant dope. While in the NFL there are many guys of smaller size with amazing strength, however the laws of physics don't change. Rushing two three hundred pounders against five three hundred pounders? Do the math. Pees must not do math. He sure can't game plan. I'm done and disgusted!

Regardless of who the CB is on the field, could we please not have the CB's leave a 10 yard cushion between them and the receiver? Sometimes our CB's aren't even close enough to show up on the TV screen until after the completions. As well as look for some new additions to personnel, let's try changing the coverage scheme to cover closer instead of just chasing receivers easy completion after easy completion.

It seemed like everybody grilled me when I complained about Dean Pees' play calling vs New England last year in the playoffs regarding his 10-12 yard cushions on every play. Do you guys know what I mean now? He does it no matter what team we face. Anti Cooper is a rookie. Good veteran corners like Jimmy Smith are suppose to be aggressive and play press because most rookie receivers have a hard time getting past press coverage.. Especially as big and tall as Jimmy is. The reason we're a "Bend but Don't Break" defense is because Pees' will not let this cushion go. It's not just versus New England or a great offense. It's verse every team. Somethings gotta change with Dean Pees' coverage play-calling. We can't keep having severly up and down weeks. It's been like this ever since Pagano left town to Indy. I don't know about y'all but I sure miss the uniqueness of Rex Ryan and Chuck Pagano..

We need a change. At defensive coordinator for certain but Im not sure there's anyone in-house that would be a better option. I think after this year Harbs might give Pees the boot.

Clarence Brooks for DC, he doesn't play around, i felt he should have gotten the job after Pags bolted for Indy....

a better pass rush would help the secondary.

True. But then again CB's not giving up such a huge cushion could also help the pass rushers.

losing Ngata,Suggs, and McPhee does hurt the defense, Harbs can candy coat it all he wants, but...blame the cap, we play the hand we are dealt, and now coaches have to earn their money now, because these young and new players need to play within the system...
