Ravens trade 7th-round pick for CB Will Davis

173 posts in this topic

Easton played well but we did not have room for him.  Sometimes players need a change of scenery and they play better or up to their potential (Daryl Smith comes to mind).  Not saying Davis will be a good player for us, but having corner depth with experience is important and is needed.  Who knows maybe he will make some plays for us then everyone will be excited saying this was a great move

bad example..daryl smith was elite for jacksonville for years. His peak years were from 2008-2011..he was an all pro calibre linebacker.

will davis doesn't belong in the same sentence.

Overrated???

He seems to think Ozzie is inferior to his talent scouting abilities when year in and year out we consitently produce playoff teams.

Anywho, I don't know who this guy is, but let's see what he can do

Clearly, the FO knows something we don't. Otherwise, this makes zero sense especially when we need WR help more than anything. We need playmakers period.

There's no WR to be had right now.

As for this trade, it was just a 7th so whatever. If he produces anything it's a bonus. Probably a bit of Webb insurance after he's inevitably cut after the season.

Still hurt I believe. Sucks because he might have been our starter right now.

Yeah but he was a limited participant in practice last week, figured he would be full participant this week and activated vs Cinci.

Some of you need to get a grip. They traded a 7th round pick for CB depth. What exactly were you expecting for a 7th round pick?

This isn't a panic move. It's simply trying to make this team better. We all see how awful Webb has looked so far. You can't rely on that guy anymore.

Well the last CB we got off the Dolphins did well in Melvin, maybe Ozzie strikes gold again

Any more of that Melvin type Gold and we will be drafting very highly.

Still don't believe it was corner that got us toasted unless one wants to review Jimmy Smiths coverage from yesterday.

Our Pass Rush was about non existent and our Defensive Line did not show up.

A seventh round pick. Not much for him. Not much on him though either. Give him a chance people. We might have liked him back in 2013 and we are snagging him now.

I'm sure Harbaugh will make him inactive, just like he did with Babin, when we desperately needed a pass rusher.

What did you expect? Did you expect Babin to sign four days before the game and play? He's a veteran, but I don't know about that.

Honestly, I did expect him to come in play vs Oakland.  Considering how bad everyone thought Oakland was prior to the game, I thought that would be the perfect time to bring him in.  Especially since he was only going to be used in a pass rush mode.

Isn't that a little obvious, though? We just signed Babin off the street and now he'll play. It's pretty obvious what he's going to do since we already know he hasn't had any time to really get the playbook down. That's not putting guys into position to win.

Any guesses who gets cut to make room ?

( real guesses not fantasy ones.  Webb is going no where. )

I'll guess Magee, since the 4th RB is pretty much obsolete now.  Otherwise, Bilukidi would be my other guess.

I don't know if Magee will be cut just yet. He looks like a person who could be cut, but then again, maybe we IR Melvin. It all depends on how well he is doing with that soft tissue injury.

Yeah injuries obviously factor in, but Magee doesn't have much of a place on the team at this point with Taliaferro back.

One snap and a bad throw makes him "atrocious"?

no, but you might want to search through preseason films.   if he gets better, he might barely top frank walker.

Its good to see F.O always trying to focus on ways to improve the team, with that said, I don't know what Will Davis can do right now. Hes buried on the depth chart currently and coming off a major injury. This could help us in the future though, but right now I don't know what type of production we'd get from Davis.

lol everybody is acting like the sky is falling! it is 2 games if i remember correctly the colts eagles and seahawks are all 0 and 2. we will play better one week the defense balled out and next the offense did they just need to put it all together in the same game and butt for will davis it depth for now that is all and thats important bc we all remember last year! would be nice if he turned out like vonte davis when he left the dolphins and balled out for the colts sometimes a change of scenery is all a player needs he does play soft at times but has good ball skills.

This is what ozzie gets paid to do. I won't act like I know his plan, but I sure as hell don't understand it. Trading a draft pick which he rarely does for a cb with injury history and hasn't played in awhile... Seems like we could of signed a practice squad player from somewhere with higher potential

This trade is just for extra depth... Some of you guys act like we're gonna get Richard Sherman for a 7th rd'er lol. Melvin's hamstring is probably moving slower than expected just like Breshad's knee did, thought a little extra depth could help. It would suck to end up like the colts last night where your 3 best corners are down and you have a guy that's never played defense in the nfl trying to guard Brandon Marshall.

After watching tape of him, I hate this trade... A lot. He cannot freaking tackle. He's got some skill in coverage, but he's going to be utterly useless in run support. He shys away from contact in that regard, and if he gives up a completion and does not have safety help he's burned.
