2016 WR Prospect Thread

I'm not at all surprised. He's been brilliant. I think it's definitely close between him, Boyd and Treadwell; however, I personally think it's between Boyd and him with Treadwell outside.

I agree with Treadwell being on the outside and I wouldn't be shocked if he passed Boyd due to Boyd's DUI.

Just going to throw this out there, but Matt Miller talked to scouts that have Doctson as their number one receiver in the entire draft.

Yeah not surprising, I need to do more research before I decide who I like best as each player has their own strengths. Guess it kinda depends what you are looking for in each guy.

I always had a hard time covering a WRs smooth in their routes over the speed guys. Needless to say I agree.

He reminds me some of Allen in terms of his routes. They're really good. For me my top 5 are:

Boyd

Doctson

Treadwell

Dural

Coleman

That's right now

Edit: Allen is a much better comparison in his routes.

What's the Clemson receivers name? Mike Williams? I don't remember, but he'd be in my top five, especially if he plays this year. He'd be a good mid to late first guy

Oh yeah he's pretty good. I like him a lot but isn't he hurt?

Neck fracture, but apparently he could return this season, which means it shouldn't hurt his draft stock if he checks out

Boyd frustrates me because like a lot of people have said he reminds me a lot of Kennan Allen, who I really wanted. He's super smooth in his routes but doesn't have that top speed to blow by people, which makes me think his draft status will be similar to Allen, or even Alshon Jeffery. Both guys that should have been first rounders, but fell to the second

I think it could still knock him out of the first round. He simply won't have as much time to impress people, and neck injuries tend to scare teams. With luck, he might be there in the early second for the Ravens to take.

If he's go time by the season, hell, even the draft, he'll be just fine.

He shouldn't see a huge hit

Joe should make his pay cut be conditional on the Ravens drafting a receiver

Great idea! It really is. If Ozzie didn't listen to that. then "Mssion control …….Uh, We have a problem"!

With the projected saving he should really ask/demand at least  two and one of his chosing.

while its a nice idea in theory... joes last "selection" at WR was tandon doss.

he may know what works for him on paper, but the selection process is a lot more than ability and on field production.

Took me til November to get into the draft forum, and the WR thread is as a good place to start as any other.

I'm projecting the Ravens to finish around 7-9. Likely landing outside of the top 10 so dreams of Bosa, Ramsey, or Hargreaves seem unlikely at this point. Maybe one of the CB slips to us but I doubt it.

I think it is possible the Ravens take a WR in the first round again.

So who to pick? RIght now I have Corey Coleman as WR1, slightly ahead of Treadwell. This could certainly change, but Coleman is the type of player in the Odell Beckham/Antonio Brown mold that I love.

1A) Coleman - all around WR. Incredibly sudden and explosive. Great YAC ability and has the deep speed to stretch the field. My only knock on him is size and occasional concentration drops.

1B) Treadwell - great size/speed combo. Smooth accelerator with great body control and very good hands. Can make circus/contested catches look easy. Willing blocker.

3) Doctson - Similar size as Treadwell but has a lankier build. Top end speed good not elite. Great body control and hands. Has positional savvy and tracks the ball extremely well.

4) Boyd - Another big WR. Boyd has great hands and short area quickness. I see him more as a possession receiver in the NFL. Lacks elite speed and not a deep threat imo.

5) Thomas - Great size and good enough speed to be a deep threat. Strong route runner, good hands. Very good all around WR.

Coleman or Treadwell will be the players in round 1 conversation where the Ravens are picking. One of these other guys might be there in 2nd round if we go CB/EDGE in the first. I'd be happy with any of them.

^1. If Bosa, Ramsey, Hargreaves AND the LT's are gone I'm gonna go with Treadwell; he's got Dez hands, size and speed. If he was better at routes he'd be a top 5 pick IMO.

Love Coleman. Don't know if he's the best, but he's been my favorite WR to watch this year.

He's so much fun to watch. He plays in such a ridiculous offense, it can be hard to get a good eval on him, but the physical traits are extremely impressive. He has elite long speed and quickness which is why he reminds me a bit of Beckham Jr. He doesn't have the route running ability, yet, that ODB had coming out, but I think that can develop.

I am one of those people who will read a lot more than I write,,

I watched treadwell play this pass weekend and he looks good ,, I see people here have him slated as the 3rd and some even the 4th best WR,, I am sure everything will change when the draft gets closer,,,

Ugh, if we end up finishing 7-9, that will just be the worst. If we win, can we at least go on a huge tear and make the playoffs? I feel unless we get a home run with this draft that we may just drift into mediocrity as this team really needs a young impact player to build around. Don't care where

It's pretty much the worst possible scenario, but because of the banked losses, I think it is likely. The Ravens are better than their 2-6 record and a soft 2nd half schedule will lead to more wins imo. It's possible that they fall apart and only win a couple more games, but I doubt that happens. I also can't see an 8-0 or 7-1 second half because there are still a lot of flaws that will crop up.

Assuming the Ravens get a high pick, and they probably will, there should be a lot of value in WR in the second round. Mike Williams or Mike Thomas should be available. Both of them would be a fairly large upgrade at receiver over the current group (barring SSS and possibly Perriman). At least it'd be a big upgrade over Aiken and Brown.

I'm def. fine with Williams if he's 100% healthy. I think Thomas has a lot of value round two and I would easily take him there.

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me at all considering this is the Ravens we are talking about. We really lack an impact player though and unless we really get lucky, it is going to be hard to find one later in the draft.

I want us to trade up for a WR. I think we have to be urgent at WR similar to how urgent we were with TE last year. No more jokes with the WR position. I can see Michael Thomas or Tyler Boyd dropping into the 2nd. They're great prospects but I wouldn't say they're seen as elite talent. This WR overall isn't as impressive as years past. I think there are some guys that will be there in the 2nd for the taking. I wouldn't give up a 3rd but I would be more than willing to part with a 4th.

What are your guys' thoughts on QB convert Braxton Miller? He has looked impressive, especially in that VT game.

He has one heck of a spin move

I think he has upside. He'd be worth a mid-round flyer if we don't go WR early,

id be willing to trade back into the 2nd if boyd/doctson falls into the late 20s.

ive been on treadwells bandwagon for a while, but i just watched boyds game film vs NC for the first time, he was really impressive in that game. im starting to see why so many people prefer him to treadwell, he is more refined for sure and definitely has a higher ceiling, maybe even a higher floor as well.
