[News] Game Recap: Raiders 37, Ravens 33

132 posts in this topic

Any chance we can have both sides of the ball show up for a game? What is it next week? Anemic offense and stout defense?

Good news is that both games were entirely winnable right to the last seconds.

"The Raiders drove down the field for the game-winning score as Carr picked apart the defense with short passes."

You could insert any other team for the Raiders, same old story.

Totally disappointed in the team's efforts today. It almost looked like a "look ahead" type game, or a game where they overlooked their opponent. Either way, it was hard to watch the final 3 mins.

The defensive scheme MUST change and change FAST. Whether it consist of Deen Pees getting out of the BOOTH and getting on the field like traditional Defensive coordinators, but this can NOT continue. The Baltimore Ravens should EASILY be up 2-0 this year and to blow a game like today to the RAIDERS how we did......ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! Yes, this is my form of venting but this is a top tier NFL organization whose much better than this. Flacco played a good game but he seems to not show up when the big plays matter most. The overthrow to S.Smith was HUGE.

The Zone D couldnt stop Derreck Carr, just like it couldnt stop Brady last winter. Is this the defenition of insanity?

Either bring back the Aggressive Pagano Defense, where we were top 5, or get rid of Pees. Rush 3, and gaping zone holes for receivers simply doesnt work.

Defense? Were they out there? I didn't see them. Why did they play off the receivers so far....Very poor defensive game planning and no 2nd half adjustment. Well.....not the end of the season, but....wow, defense needs help. GO RAVENS!

Even Harbaugh was in disbelief of Trestman's call playing at the end of 4th quarter. Other than a few plays it looked as if the Defense weren't even there. Something needs to change awful fast before Cinncinati Comes to town

In a way, we Eli Manning-ed this game away. Those two boneheaded incompletions coulda been two kneeldowns for 80 secs off the clock and we still coulda gotten the FGs.

I do admit the defense sucked today, but the coaching staff needs to talk to Joe about the back foot throws, too many points left off the board from poor throwing technique. We could have won that game, he was throwing short all game long.

Just saw Rodgers fling ball on the run 30 yards into the EZ. Joe on the other hand tries these low percentage passes that are supposed to be catchable only by his man, but as we have seen they are not always on target and too often easily defensed. Carr threw his winning pass into the EZ on a bee line.

As for the dump offs? I'd almost rather see a better play drawn up that didn't work out and Joe just has to chuck it out of bounds.

I don't think the defense failed to live up to their rep on account of the loss of Suggs.

Well...

We have a co-ordinator problem. This time, it's the DC. Dean pees' bend but don't break defense sucks. After jimmy smith got beat like a drum by amari cooper on that 68yd TD, pees got super scared. He decided at that moment to have the db's play 5-10 yards off the WR's which led to carr having the best game of his damn career. Nice. The ravens allowed 2 wr's to go over 100 yards. lol.

Lardarius webb is no longer a starting-caliber corner. His athleticism is gone. I guess we should've expected that after he tore his ACL. It's time to find someone else to play that spot.

The d-line was getting pushed back all game. Remember the 4th q vs. denver that we thought was an anomaly? Well, it wasn't. That's what the ravens are. The ravens are SOFT and SMALL up front now. Upshaw can't rush the passer worth jack & the rook (za'darius) played like a rook.

This team lost to the raiders... rofl. Boy. Panic time. Now they have to face a bengal team that they haven't been able to crack as of late. 0-3 is a real possibility.

Time for Dean Pees to earn his Keep. He now has the first Ravens Defense without anyone from the Old Guard, and it doesn't look promising. It's obvious a defense without a Leader and Motivator plays Flat like we did today. Need to make adjustments and somebody has got to step up as a playmaker. If we give Dalton and Big Ben that kind of time, they will embarrass us. Just curious, do we have any Speedy Receivers on the practice squad that can stretch a defense until Perriman returns? if so, bring em up...

Upset is an understatement. I actually have a stomach ache. This game was ulcer worthy. Defense went from a week 1 top ranking to the cellar in a hurry. Painful to watch Carr pick our defense apart. Great to see some life in the offense and it should have been enough. As soon as we settled for a FG on the last drive, I knew that the defense was going to blow the game. I need Maalox and Zantac after this one.

The NFL protects it product, wink, we get it. However, there are 14 more games to play with room for three more losses to extend the season. Hopefully, the Ravens offensive coordinator will run a two-back set for pass protection as effectively demonstrated by Oakland. Hopefully, the Ravens defensive coordinator will blitz more creatively. One can only say "Next game" for so long, before it becomes "Next Season!"

We wait all year long, go through the draft, OTAs, training camp, preseason, hoping that this year we would be bonafide contenders, but how were we rewarded? Being awarded last place in the division and possibly the conference in the weakest conference. And what's more frustrating is that it's the same dang problems that other teams would have corrected in three years. No playmakers on the offense, lackluster defense that would bring Big Ray to tears, injuries, and above all just plain idiocy. Until we finally fix these mistakes, I wouldn't expect this team to be good for anything but a high draft pick. If they don't screw that up. Neg if you want, but the truth is right in front of you.

I'm getting really tired of that eddie murphy look alike out there in lardarius webb. The guy had one great year and that is it, I'm sick of him cut his but and send him packing, should have kept haloti over that [profanity deleted], I said we should have drafted a free safety, but no we drafted a wide receiver who has a rare disease causing him to sit out the whole month. We barely used Maxx Williams at all today, Marc trestman the last three minutes did A HORRIBLE JOB time management. 0-2 GAHAAAAAAA, JEEZ man the heck happened, the defense took a crap today, and put clones out there or something my god. 0-2 BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Our wide receivers are horrible. Neg me away. Joe played great. If we can't get pressure without Suggs this is going to be a long season. Webb is never going to be where he was in 2012. It's sad, but true. We need to get him out of the lineup on non dime packages.

If we would have ran or taken a knee on 2nd and 3rd down, they could have used their TO and the 2min warning and gotten the ball back with 2mins to go, needing just a FG. Going for the TD was the correct call, and we got a guy open, Joe just made a bad throw. Especially with our defense playing as bad as it was you have to play for the win. You can't just give them the ball back and expect to stop them. It was a great play call and poor execution.

Too many missed tackles. No pass rush. Seems whoever Carr passed to, ran circles around our defense. It was bad. I think that week in California may have had a bad effect.

A few questions came to mind watching the game. First, is it the Xs and Os or the Willie and Joes? Ravens drafted defense in the first 3 rounds for 2 years straight, yet there pass defense stinks for the last few years. Even Harbs during the preseason said "We haven't stopped a 2 minutes situation in 8 years" Is the front office slipping? Since 2008 missed on Kindle, T Cody, Elam, A. Brown, Upshaw hasn't live up to expectation, Webb is overpaid, Monroe is overpaid. When 1st and 2nd round guys don't pan out , the young talent level slips. Diamond in the rough are go add-ons, but aren't enough to win consistently. Ravens are consistently against the CAP , but where are the difference/playmakers?
