Joe Flacco

He could have played much better. However, if you demand or expect that he do much better than 385 and 71% while we score 33, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Why was the other thread removed? Are we not allowed to talk about Joe on here?

When was the last time you saw a Flacco thread?  How did it end out of curiousity?

Wait, the previous Flacco thread actually ended? When did this happen?

I just don't get it w/ Flacco at times.  He has a cannon, but for some reason, he lofts the ball entirely too much and underthrows quite a few passes.  A receiver should always have to go get the pass, never come back for it.

Honestly today after the game. To be fair I only have like 40 posts on this board, so I haven't been active on this board very long.

Yea it's been a problem for years. The underthrows when a receiver has got his man beat are weird because he has a top 5 arm. Also the jump balls aren't good. I understand giving your guy a chance to go get it but Q was the only guy who could do that properly. SSS could probably do it too because he has fire but he's only 5'9'' so those throws need to be cut down drastically.

Yeah, Flaccos deep ball has always been a bit of a misconception. He can sling it deep, but rarely with accuracy. Some will contest that, as they always do, but the stats show otherwise.

lets just say it was one of the least impressive 400 yard (almost) games i have ever seen from a QB. Anyone could have put up big numbers vs this oakland team.

exactly..

this deep ball thing with flacco is more about a myth and a few that actually came off..he's actually one of the least accurate throwers of the long ball in the NFL

if it weren't for torrey smith getting PI's i wonder how many more games we would have lost,,,

We need Tyrod back. We let the wrong guy go...

Could have played better but I thought he threw the ball well considering the receiving core he has to play with.

The Flacco deep ball myth was fueled by the playoff run, where he was actually quite effective with it.

I do wish the jump balls would end. They're never effective with anyone not named Boldin.

By no means was it a poor performance. He regularly was hitting his man. Those 3 or 4 misses were just so widely missed and ugly. Just don't get it.

Flacco is and will continue to be our starting QB.

He is going to have far, far, far, more and significantly worse games than this for that to even be considered to change.

They did look bad. Just out of curiosity, not argument because I am wondering myself, how many ugly passes are acceptable out of 44?

You know, Flacco did well for only having 1 WR showing up for the game. Steve Smith Sr. balled but where was everyone else? Aiken did well but made some dud plays. I can't get upset at Flacco too much because he wasn't given much help.

Im sorry but we need another guy to step up. Steve Smith can't do this for a whole season, his body won't let him. Im really worried for Steve right now if the workload continues to get brutal, not to mention how that will hurt Flaccos game, he's always on point when his WRs are consistent.

If the season continues to play out like today's game, Steve Smith wont last. He takes a lot of shots and got blasted today on that no catch/changed to a catch. Any even average #2 receiver would see one on one coverage and take advantage but they don't play on Baltimore's team

There is no clear answer here. When one was quite possibly a game altering throw, that's huge. I don't look at things in a vacuum. I see too many throws from Flacco that leave me uneasy. After 8 years, I shouldn't feel unsettled when he back to toss one deep. And don't get me started on his horrid attempts at throwing a fade into the EZ. He excels with throws to the sidelines, dump offs (but any schmuck can handle those) and your 15-20 yard middle of the field ball. But only when thrown with velocity. He lacks touch with the ball when having to feather or drop a ball in somewhere. All just my opinion here.

problem = flacco is tall, has a big arm and throws jump balls. we dont have jump ball receivers.

Even if we did, an underthrown "jump ball" isn't getting caught.

the dez bryants, calvin johnson, aj greens, deandre hopkins, aquan boldins, etc, etc, etc's of the world would disagree with you.

and he throws MANY contested jump balls that are catchable. and yes some are underthrown but they are still catchable. for example the dropped under thrown pass early in the game to aiken went right through his hands. any decent receiver should catch that. flacco simply doesnt have consistent weapons

highly inaccurate. football 101 @ WR position you learn starting in junior high that you come back to the ball. you have to adjust to the ball. WR 101. even at NFL level you'll see it with peyton manning, aaron rodgers, tom bradys WR's still have to attack the ball vast majority of the time.
