The Good, Bad and Ugly vs Raiders

726 posts in this topic

Schedule:

vs. Bengals

@ Steelers

vs. Browns

@ 49ers

@ Cardinals

I'd say there's a real chance we go 1-6

If we beat the Bengals, Browns, and 49ers, that puts us at 3-4 with a chance to still do well. If we sweep the division, we have a chance to go 3-4, 4-3. I'm hoping the latter. I want to say keep the faith, but I also want to say brace for a negative year.

I bet you if Suggs was active, we would have played better, but not a guarantee we'd have won.

I'm not sure why Trestman abandoned the run on the final drive either. Really not a fan of him.

He doesn't know how to run this offense. Either he needs to figure it out or just make it his own.

And where the hell was Gillmore the 2nd half?

The Raiders adjusted to him, we should have gotten opportunities from elsewhere though

And conversely, what will our sorry offense do when they're playing a defense that isn't missing about half their starters?

We have one playmaker on offense - Smith Sr. Period. Don't know what you expect when you are man #1 for excuses for the defense last season.

I am pissed off that we consistently can not finish drives, and get touchdowns.

For whatever reason, either the play call sucks, or the playcall was right, but the wrong receiver was inserted, had we had a couple taller guys on those TDthrows (fades)throughout the game, we may have been better off....

6'5 and 6'6" guys going against 5'10" db's is favorable for us, we just dont give Joe those options. Marlon, Crockett, Max Williams, Waller, Boyle, call it the END ZONE TALL PACKAGE.

Is it just me, or does this not make sense? Look at the top 5 Touchdown catchers in the last 5 years height and see for yourself.

Way too many missed tackles. Defense seemed to lack any discipline. Missed chances on O bit us in the end but when you score 33, that should be enough to win a game. Unfortunately the defense just didn't show up.

Well his offense in Chicago was very pass happy, so I'm not sure we want that either.

Wish we got Shanahan, shame he went to Atlanta.

Please go watch the play again.  Or learn how football works.  Smith was in position to get his other foot down and stepped instead of dragging his foot.

you must be joking..he could have floated it anywhere but where it would have been a stretch. HE WAS completely open..

sorry but you are incorrect.

Wonder what Suggs is thinking right now

Probably trying to get back onto the field in spite of just having surgery, or at least planning to show up at the Bengals game to yell at the defense to *win*

I agree, but this just seems like a different KO than last year idk

He really sucked @ Denver. Hope he can bounce back but if he plays like this 'til the end it's gonna be a pretty easy decision to let him go so we can hold on to Yanda.

Yep, Manning missed 3 TDs last week because his arm couldn't handle it. Sanders especially was running free past Webb all game.

Yep and honestly, it was on blitz when we got pressure and it could be argued that Denver's o-line isn't used to blitz pickup yet because they are kinda new. Defense has not impressed and it starts with Pees which has not been good since Pagano got plucked for a head coaching job.

That Jernigan penalty at the end...man.

That one hurt for the fact that it was very much avoidable. He took several steps before making contact. It wasn't the sole reason we lost, but plays like that down the stretch tend to stick in your memory.

The defense was pathetic, but Timmy Jernigan's 15 yard roughing the passer penalty was beyond inexcusable.  That cannot go unpunished, because it literally cost us the game, and when I saw the replay, was totally inexcusable.  This guy is a moron.  Harbaugh better make an example of him to prove a point.  At best bench him for a game.  At worst cut him (which I realize won't happen).  This kind of gratuitous personal violence can simply not be tolerated.  Jernigan cost us the game because he hit the QB 3 seconds after he threw an incomplete pass.  That is dumb beyond belief.  You learn NOT to do that in Pop Warner football.

Agreed. The offense missed opportunities...but the Bengals also scored 33, and it was enough. The defense should not be giving up 37 to Derek Carr. I bet money the Raiders don't approach the offensive output they had today for the rest of the year,

At least next year some of these bad contracts (Rice, Pitta, Webb) won't kill us as much...and no doubt Flacco will be taking a pay cut if this keeps up.

Pees needs to be gone. Hopefully the Colts really do fire Pagano.

can't imagine him not receiving head coaching interest from other teams if hes even fired at all. there are much worse coaches than pagano who keep getting second chances.

I though right away: "only a team that's gonna lose is gonna commit this kind of penalty at this point of the game". I was right.

I am not one to overreact this early in the season.  I know the chances of teams making it after 0-2 start are not great, but we have the chance to get right back on track next week at home.  This may be an overreaction but I truly think it is time we look at a possible change at defensive coordinator.  I would wait and see how the next 4-6 games go but if it does not improve then we should make a switch.  They were doing trips on one side and throwing quick short throws, Pees did not have our corners jam the receivers or anything, he had them sit back 10 yards as we failed to tackle the ball carrier.  No pass rush whatsoever when rushing 4 guys, but we barely blitzed and when we did we got good results.  Hopefully Babin can come in provide a pass rush because Z'darius Smith is not ready to play consistent snaps this year.  Offensively we played really well as we should have, but Flacco flat out missed on that last throw to Smith Sr. that should have been a touchdown.  We have a chance to turn it around but our defensive adjustments need to change and we need to come out more aggressive defensively next week or we will be 0-3

Still we play 5 to 8 yards off of wide outs.... Pees isn't good, our pass rush was terrible. Did we get a sack?

I can buy a sack of potatoes at the store if that help

Idk Oakland's weakness was their secondary so we attacked it. Still I'm not happy with some of the packages he used.

I remember when the Steelers started 0-4 a few years ago and I made so much fun of them...we're headed down a similar path.

People who are bagging on Gilmore...there is little you can do when you're doubled team/jammed at the line...when this happen, you get 1-on-1 opportunities with other guys. You're supposed to take advantage of that!

No excuses, just truth.  You're the one always trying to bail the golden child out.  The defense sucked today and I have no problem admitting it.  You on the other hand will find any any excuse or reason to stick up for a poor offense with one of the most inconsistent qbs leading it.  The d was trash but you can't miss that throw for an easy TD.  The Raiders lost numerous starters and not just him, but the o as whole still struggled, even as attrocious as the defense was.

Too many draft years spent going defense heavy - we went offense heavy this season but Maxx isn't being used by Trestman and Perriman isn't yet on the field. Waited to long to get Flacco some weapons and now we see what waiting for pick #5 or later does for your offense.
