You should take over for Peas

Anyone can see what we need to do, jamming receivers and having your defense play aggressive brings success.  What other team in the league plays a "bend but don't break" defense?  The Bills, Seahawks, Rams and Patriots amongst others play aggressive by blitzing and letting their defensive backs make plays.  Id rather see Jimmy Smith get beat because the receiver made a great play or the QB threw a great pass over having our defensive backs play 10 yards off and have a QB shred us with passes you and I could both complete (sarcasm but you get my point).

Especially when tackling has been an issue as of late.

It has been a major issue and I think a lot of teams would have issues asking all their defensive backs to tackle receivers when they are that wide open.  Nonetheless Pees needs to change up his strategy and I would be very surprised if he didn't.  People may knock Harbaugh for clock management or other issues, but one thing he does well is he usually gets the best out of his coaches and players.  He will demand adjustments and do not be surprised if we come out Sunday with a whole new defensive swagger and physical style play.

Yep. I actually will be surprised if he switches it up. It's not that we shouldn't be surprised if we see swagger, it should be EXPECTED. If I continue to see these 3-man rushes, I'm going to lose my mind.

I really hope we beat the Bengals and the Steelers, I really do, but I just do not know if I can bring myself to watch those games. I just get so upset when we lose and right now we seem to really be struggling to find an identity. I don't know if I can put myself through it. If the weather is good on Sunday, I may have to get myself out to a bike trail and give my blood pressure a Sunday of rest.

Yes we have Got to play press coverage and slow down the receivers so our pass rush can get there. I am almost ready to say start Rashaan Melvin with Jimmy because he is a big bodied corner who can play press.

Straight up, these next two games are a must win if we want to have a chance at anything this year. We start 0-4 in the AFC, we're done and might as well look towards the offseason/draft to get better next year. Can't believe we started out this way man.....

.It's not the 3 man rush, it's the coverage behind it.

You should be able to drop 8 in coverage and not have a team nickle and dime you to death like the Raiders did.

I take losses so hard. I know, in the grand scheme of life, a football game really should not matter as much as it does for me. I've been trying to work on getting my priorities straight for a long time. I pray God has mercy on me and does not teach me a hard lesson, because I am seriously no fun to be around during a loss. I had to go cold turkey on fantasy football, because that was getting way out of control. If I did not have this website to vent, I do not know what I would do. Thank God, BR.com does not charge me for the therapy.

While I agree, we struggled to get much pressure with four. So why rush three?

our only way to beat the bungles is pressuring Dalton, make him make mistakes like he always does.

Which wont happen because we couldn't pressure Carr and Dalton has a MUCH MUCH MUCH better line

Couldn't agree more. We just watched New England win a Super Bowl with quick fire, short passes - and we are sitting back and letting teams complete dink and dunk passes all day. Bring back the aggression, because the defense is both bending AND breaking!

For times like these, I tell myself "just don't get destroyed, be respectable". Then if we win, awesome! but as long as we are in the game - it is all good. I made it through 2007 that way lol

It is the 3 man rushes. We struggle to get any pressure with 4 so why in the world would you rush 3? Especially in 3rd and long situations. They didn't work with Mattison and they still don't work. Our last 2 games even the announcers were laughing at us for those. They have not been successful one single time. Every single time we get beat so what is the point?  If he runs one more he should be run out of town on a rail.

We're gonna win this game ladies and gentlemen.  The first two games could have gone either way, its just the way the cookie crumbles, the ball just didn't bounce in our favor, but we were in it to the very, very end both games.  We got this Ravens nation.  Keep the faith!

So some perspective here. First off the linear comparisons Bengals stomped Raiders raiders beat Ravens therefore Bengals stomp Ravens are pretty much never applicable in the NFL. Doesn't work like that. Second let's look at this from the Bengals perspective. 2-0. On the road to a division rival you have played well against through the Lewis era. But this Ravebs team is 0-2 and reeling after a loss to a bad Raiders team. Time for the Bengals to go in for the kill on their rival.... Wait we're the Bengals. Pretty much always come up small in a big spot. Most likely come up short with some inexplicably bad Andy Dalton play.

I think of this as Rock, paper, scissors (you decide which team is which).

These Ravens are just not that good imo.  Therefore, I'm done telling folks that; "We got this or that game" from week to week and that "The Ravens are battle tested road warriors that can and will handle their business" or that "The Ravens play well at home" yada, yada, yada!  From here on out...I'll just be watching the games....cheering the Ravens on of course but I'll be letting their chips fall where they may this season!

You could be right and all the evidence supports your post but I do remember you saying this last year as well I'm pretty sure

The Ravens will win this game but it is going to be a close game decided in the 4th quarter. This will be my first Ravens game.

I hope your wrong about it being close because if we have to rely on our defense holding them out of scoring position.. I'm extremely worried.

I disagree respectfully. Had they rushed 4, they would have still given up those 3rd downs dude. They couldn't get pressure on blitzes either. .

Sometimes it comes down to players blowing coverage, missing tackles, and getting beat. That is what happened.

The entire defense as a whole played their worst game as a unit in YEARS.

There was nothing Pees could do. He tried literally everything, and notHong worked.

Case in point. .he sent a blitz on 3rd down and got burned for 7..dropped 8 and still gave up 3rd downs. That wasn't on coaching or scheme..that was a lazy, terrible effort from the entire defense.

Because the school of thought is that Carr is a young QB, let's take away his options and force him to find his secondary options. Only problem was that the coverage sucked.

So I'm blaming the west coast vibe for last week's horrid defensive performance. Ravens are back home and will kick some Bengal butts!

I disagree about it not being on coaching or scheme.  Yes there was some mental lapses by the defense on several occasions but those are going to happen every game.  The things I saw that we could have done differently is jam Amari Cooper off the line more.  He is a very polished route runner for a young player and he made Jimmy look bad on numerous occasions, mainly because he had a free release and had 5-8 yards of free space to make a move.  If we would have blitzed 4 or 5 people more often and had our corners in press man, then Carr would have been forced to get the ball out faster.  This strategy works well most of the time if your rushers are hitting home and yours corners are physical like ours are.  The Jets did this last night to Andrew Luck and he is a smarter and more talented QB then Carr.  Granted the Jets defense is probably more talented, the same concepts could still be used for our team

I hope I am as well.  Plus I want the crowd to be in at my first Ravens game.  I've heard it has such a college atmosphere and I'm psyched.

Anything I should know about game day at M&T park from the regulars.
