Yeah, I'm worried about Canty and Monroe. He had some nice plays against Denver. Monroe has been snake bit. I really hope he's okay. We need Monroe.

I'm more worried about talioferro. We need the run game to come through for us Sunday. Canty hurts too though. Edited by January J

Yeah, truly is pessimism and not "calling it like it is". The reality is that the Ravens just opened the season with two away games on the west coast and while losing both, were in position to win at the end of both. Reality is also playing at home usually provides a distinct advantage and could very well be what they need to turn things around.

That's not sticking your head in the sand, it's taking an optimistic view of the facts.

Like you said, that's optimism. Reality is that we are on a three game skid against the bengals and joe almost always plays poorly against them. We have a poorly preforming secondary and they have a lot of offensive weapons we probably can't account for.

I hope we win, I mean its not like I'm not going to not root for my team. But pointing out the disadvantages to the ravens in the match up isn't necessarily being pessimistic. Its being honest.

I guess we just have to come to grips with having a second year, undrafted backup LT protecting Joe's blindside for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if Perriman will be back in time for the Thursday game against Pittsburgh. Not confident about that game at all, but it'd sure help if he made a splash in it.

Speaking of home, no better place to right the ship after a very bad start. For all of you Raven fans if you have not heard Eric Church's 'The Outsiders'...please give this a listen. You could picture this being played to pump up the crowd especially accompanied with a fitting video to accomapny the music. There are spots in the song where we the audience can chime in as well. I sincerely hope the Ravens production team at the stadium would give this serious consideration. Im telling you, this song was written with Charm City and our Ravens in mind...thank you Eric!

So Giants are winning the SB?

No you knew exactly what I meant - you are just being a donkey's butt.

Is this thread about the Giants?

I think our WRs have a good day. Both Flacco and the WRs. OL should hold up IMO.

Defense is who I'm worry about. Secondary is still vulnerable.

Overall I think we win.

Everything starts in the trenches. Can't start slow and can't leave points on the board. D line plays like last week and it's a blowout. I think the whole team comes out with energy, it being the first home game. Can't afford losses at home with how they started.

I don't imagine the DL playing like that again. Jigg is coming back from an injury that kept him out for 3 weeks and I believe we were missing Canty who is pretty effective. You're right though, the DL has to play better than what we saw and I'm sure they will.

Yep. Especially not home losses against division opponents.

Time for Timmy Jernigan to make amends. We all had the hopes that Timmy was going to be able to bring us some much needed pass rush coming up the middle. Now that the edge rush has been diminished, we need that more than ever. His first time to prove himself, he was non existent during the game and then committed that costly and silly roughing penalty.

He's needs to show up this time and show up in a big way.

timmy jernigan has always been extremely overrated. no idea where all the hype comes from.

The Bungles are going to stack the box. There will be one on one chances down the field lets see if someone can get behind them deep.

The Bengals seem to be content with only sending their front 4 at the passer on most plays (they were 27th in the league with 21% of defensive snaps blitzed last year, among many other 4-3 teams). Stacking the box doesn't really make sense to me unless we put out a heavy formation, considering Trestman seems much more inclined to pass, even when a run would be much more prudent.

Of course, he probably could stack the box if he wanted to, considering we don't have a receiving corps capable of taking advantage of thin coverage, mainly because we lack a deep threat.

Not really. It's only being honest if you point out the advantages as well. Backs against the wall, home opener, losing the first two away games on the west coast by close margins..........I'd be surprised if the Ravens lose this game.

Whenever someone predicts a blowout it's always a close game. In fact, some predicted the exact same score of 73-3 in the raiders game. Unfettered optimism has been jinxing us a little lately.

You're right. Let's be realistic.

73-4

No thanks. We need get better fast. If we need to cut somebody to wake our players up(trestman arrinton webb) then do it!

I say cut web .... he has done nothing .... I mean nothing .... why keep him .... we cut T. Smith for no good Reason .... i mean at least he was catching the ball .... but Web really .... he had one good year .... then got hurt now He's afraid ....

It's really weird to say that our offence is scoring but our defense can't stop the scoring ....

So the pick last year to secure the win and the playoff spot was meaningless.

Torrey wasn't cut. He was a free agent. He didn't accept Ozzie's offer and decided to leave for more money with the 49ers. He chose to leave.

I must be missing something because while I know he had 2 really really bad plays - I thought overall he did alright. Not great, but alright.

I don't like the number of injuries Webb suffers but lets remember that he played the Denver game the same week he returned to practice and Oakland was his second week back. No excuses, but I think it takes a month to catch up considering the amount of time missed.

Webb has proven to be frail when up against to big, strong wrs on the edge.

Webb had the highest rating of our CBs vs Oakland.

I doubt our predictions have an actual effect on the outcome of the game.

Just sayin'.

You don't understand. We forum posters are mystical, I caused the Greek stock market crash by invading Canada. Others here are better than Ozzie, and know that he's secretly worthless. You secretly determine the outcome of every game.

These losses are technically your fault. :P
