[News] Receivers Eager To Prove People Wrong After Opener

57 posts in this topic

If there's no decent pass blocking from the OL there is no passing game. As far as the receivers go, I'll believe in them when they earn it, not before.

Your not going to judge how good the WR core is against a nobody secondary for Oakland with both Charles Woodson and the other Safety out, and they can get open all day cause Raiders stink.

You judge the WR core against playoff caliber defenses with like Denver, or Seattle, Arizona, Cinci..all which are on our schedule.

And routinely these "Just Guys" like Aiken,Brown, cant get separation from CBs.

Ravens blew it not signing a vet like James Jones, or now signing Hakeem Nicks, D.Avery,S.Moss,B.Loyyd

The biggest problem right now is the OL, but the WR's still aren't very good (other than Steve and Perriman is an unknown as of now). And if they do well against the Raiders that doesn't change anything, its the Raiders. Also, without Perriman out we are so slow at the position its painful

cmon ya kno the ravens hav never had a good receiving core, still havnt drafted a good receiver, only good ones hav been from other teams in the back end of their careers, its being said there is no deep game cuz perrimans not out there, well theres nothing deep if the plays arent called that way and ya cant throw it deep if theres no protection, we need a firey o coordinator, kinda like smith sr's attitude, if trestman makes it the whole year i'll be surprised, the offense needs to ATTACK the same way our defense does... GO RAVENS!!!

its not really about how fast or slow a guy is, if they arent put in the optimal position for their skillset then they are useless... look at torrey, fast guy-bad route running-only a deep guy, so thats what they did with him, boldin- not the fastest-great route runner-could get open short, middle, and deep, the main asset of a reciever is the ability to read defenses with his qb and find the open spot in a defense

denver was owned last night but they still found a way to win. even after the really tough game against us on sunday. we will be up against a weaker secondary and if we win (which we should) its not going to settle the talk about our receivers and offense. not in my mind anyway.

I don't understand how we have Jah Reid here for all those years and he barely plays and then I see him pushing people around on the starting Offense for KC....is harbs a bad eye for talent?

Im not totally buying this receiver not getting separation stuff. I saw plenty of plays this year as well as last year when guys were open and just didnt get the ball thrown their way. Flacco needs time to thrown the ball. Also, for the millionth time its evident that the Ravens still have a hard time using their recievers to the best of their abilities. I remember a 3rd and 3 situation with Marlon lined up and the defender playing ten yards off. That should have been and immediate quick slant to Marlon. He would get that first down even if he trips. But instead we run a 4 step drop, near impossible to a crossing SSS. Peyton thrown alot of passes to the bigger Demaryus Thomas when he wasn't that open last night. Go back a rewatch some of these games. The plays are there alot more than people realize.

I have a great idea!!! let's hire a failed head coach and make him our O.C.....that's our M.O. We are the retread hires of the league...and if they have any success...the blow us off when the first offer arrives, instead of showing gratitude by staying.

Camp is the WR most often able to get open quickly. While the O-Line was struggling to hold defenders at bay, why wasn't Camp out there more if Joe had so little time to get the ball out? Makes no sense to me. Get Camp in on more plays.

Another year, another vanilla ho hum offense....Don't like Trestman....never have...never will!!

I get the feeling Joe don't either. His body language has changed.

As much as I love the Ravens, we hear this WR stuff every year and its tiring. I hate tossing money at free agents but maybe the Ravens should stick to that when it comes to WRs. Just seems like WR is something ozzie is horrible at drafting overall. It's just the same tune each and every year "WRs have something to prove" etc. Aside from Torrey Smith, our best WRs have been pickups from other teams.

I keep hearing Joe is the best deep ball QB but yet we cannot, will not get receivers that can help this. Don't give me that No SHOW Perriwomen.

Perfectly stated! This is the NFL. Players, coordinators, coaches saying we should have done this, done that, we'll prove it next game. Wait a minute! Why wait until next game? Do it in the present game. Show what you got, WRs. Show you can identify problems and adapt during the game, coordinators. Why all this we'll fix it next time. You all are professionals. Adapt and excel immediately. Tired of these excuses from the Ravens.

Not to worried about it, the coaches and players know what needs done, and they will bounce back like they always do....

I'll tell you this, if our TEs are not used more often in this game i will walk from Texas to Baltimore and kick Marc Trestman in the behind myself. I'll be dipped in syrup and rolled in Chicago Bear fur before i let Marc Trestman turn Joe Flacco into Jay Cutler

we shall find out sunday if this receiving corp is that bad

The only thing we can possibly find out about the WRs is confirmation of their inabilities should the offense struggle again. This is the Raiders with their two starting safeties out. If the WRs have a decent game nothing is learned. The WRs have to excel against decent competition before proclaiming them better than average or even average. Why is it the Ravens are back to this old and or slow WR dilemma? So frustrating.

There were articles about how confident our receivers were before the season started. They are what they are. There's a huge difference between making plays in favorable situations as a #3 or #4 WR and consistently making plays against other teams' top CBs as a #2. Brown and Aiken are solid backups, and we can probably manufacture some offense with them against weak defenses, but until Perriman comes back, this will be one of the weakest receiving corps in the league. I want to see Campanaro in the slot more. I think he can get more consistent separation than anyone besides SSS.

It's all attitude in my opinion. Who's willing to get up and fight for the ball. Who refuses to be pressed at the line. Some of it is size, some of it is opportunity, but the rest is desire. That is why Smith Sr. has been successful.

I expect them to struggle against arguably the best secondary in the league as they did last week. However, if they can't put up some passing yards on a heavily-injured Oakland secondary that wasn't any good to begin with, then you know you have a problem.
