Week 2 - Baltimore Ravens at Oakland Raiders

OMG... this had nothing to do with Trestmann

I agree with you. Trestman had little to do with it except he had a really dumb call on our final drive. In reality Joe Flacco was off his game today and missed several easy throws to his receivers. Despite his lofty stats, he played a poor game.

I wonder what bull articles are going to be on this website praising the offense and how the defense wasnt that bad.  Should be a good read

Or those polyanna homers posting such things as "it's only the second quarter" "it's only two games" "it's only...blah, blah, blah"

Well it's only the postseason sans Baltimore. Oh wait, some of us that predicted that after such a lackluster preseason.

Flacco did have a few key underthrows..........to Smith in the last drive.......a TD to Waller early....a dying quail to Aiken......all back foot throws..........his lob has been off for a couple games now.

We had 2 minutes to go with possession of the ball and he's dishing out silly play calls, of course he does. As the offensive coordinator should he not be able to come up with plays to run the clock down?

I'm not saying he's the main reason why we lost because the D were amateurish but the Raiders should never have gotten the ball back with so much time to go.

Quit while your making sense, people in here are in love with Joe. He's the best elite, franchise quarterback since Terry Bradshaw.

I see an 0-4 start coming. The Bengals will have their way offensively, and the Steelers might beat us by 100. Defense was AWFUL!!!I

If we start 0-4 then I guess the talk will be about us finally drafting high and our easy schedule next year, it has been a long time since we had those.

Was it his play call on 2d down final drive that stopped the clock saving TO and time for Raiders? Was it his formations and playing calling that didn't utilize TEs in 2d half? The losses aren't all his fault but he's playing a big role. I'd say him Flacco too errant too much and nobody behind SSS are the flaws in the team, not to mention a non-clutch defense....well that's basically the whole team so let me throw Harbaugh in there for no good reason.

It had everything to do with a defense that couldn't stop Carr....

People really don't understand. If trestman had got around to running more earlier. To keep their offense off the field. Perhaps we could have curtailed them in a little.

People look at stats well Flacco threw for this and that. It's no different than saints last 2 years constantly throwing for 300+ yards 40+ passes 20 runs. Then find themselves 8-8, 7-9. Because some of those passes either left extra time on the clock or became a turnover. Or scored to fast and put weak D back out there.

Quit while your making sense, people in here are in love with Joe. He's the best elite, franchise quarterback since Terry Bradshaw.

haha maybe, it'd be nice to have a high draft pick and a chance at getting a top WR or CB... or somethin...  :P

The shoulda, woulda, couldas are killing me right now. So many. We should have known with all the early hype from the pundits.

Saying that we should have put up at least 50 against a team so depleted and with less talent on defense...not to mention Joe hits a wide-open SSS and we are in overtime. Your thoughts are?

That the offense graded a B, and yes, Joe missed that throw. That said, I'd give the defense an F. You seem to disagree.

That's why I am staying away till game time next Sunday. I spent all week defending the team. Am not going to do it this week, not after the way Ravens played today. I am not going to read comments this week, that's adding salt to the wound of being 0-2. Good thing there are several networks starting new fall seasons, helps take my mind from this game. Take care, see ya Sunday.

See you then. Go and enjoy life outside of football ... not much enjoyment in the sport at the moment.

I admit I was upset with Trestman when he had Joe throw a bomb down the field on 3rd and 3 and we started the second half with two straight three and outs. It was way too hot for our defense to not have a little breather there. It put us behind the eight ball again to start the half.

Just amazed at how the defense played. I don't know what to make of it ... the difference between last week and this week. Suggs makes a difference, but this had to be more than just that.

Watch us end up 2-2.

HaHa..... You're kidding right?  Our defense just got manhandled by the raiders, and you think we could end up 2-2?  Here are a few ways that could possibly happen, other than these.... not going to happen:

1.  Hell freezes over and defensive backs learn how to play football...

2. Peas is finally fired

3. ozzie newsome takes one of those clear pills from "Limitless," grows a brain, and invests in defensive backs.

4. ozzie newsome takes one of those clear pills from "Limitless," grows a brain, signs Kam Chancellor.....and.... Terrell Suggs grows another leg/foot/achilles, saws off his injured one, then suits up to play in both games with his newly grown healthy leg/foot/achilles....

I don't think 2-2 is looking too obtainable...

I would just like to refer everyone back to my "it's only preseason, but...." Thread. Where I stated hat the preseason was a harbinger of future struggles, our secondary is not improved, injuries derail the team, and a lack of a wr is apparent, along with mentioning how we can't get a stop anywhere inside he 3 minute mark and ou redzone offense disappears at times..

But I was overreacting and had no idea what I was talking about, and preseason is absolutely zero indication, even when your starters are showing all the same struggles that plagued you the year prior.. Hate to say atodoso, but atodoso.

Is Joe still elite? Does that label ebb and flow along with one's play? Someone should ask Mike Huckabee.

no he isn't..never was and never will be..he caught fire when it mattered and the stars aligned . end of discussion

This loss stings even more than last week.

At least last week we were expected to lose then made it close.

This week, really highlighted the lack of WR talent. Steve Smith was the offense today. Maybe we should start putting all these Early round drafted TE's in at WR!? (2nd, 3rd & 5th) and our injured top TE (4th rounder)

I mean it really shows that the ravens have not invested in the WR position.

our Top WR is a FA

Our #2 is a journeyman practice squad player

Our #3 a Undrafted free agent

Our #4 a 7th rounder

Our #5 a 6th rounder

Oye-vey

It was all the above. Why can't people understand this and stop obsolving Flacco?

Who obsolved him? Obviously, he had a chance to go like 80%, and he should have with the defense we faced. I've just read all offseason how people get so upset when people get on the defense for giving up the last drive after a great day. Now, tables have turned and it's the exact same thing. The team lost the game. 33 points isn't enough against the Raiders, I guess.

I do get a little upset when Flacco looks good but puts up mild numbers, and he gets crushed here. Now, he puts up huge numbers, but somehow, apparently, looked dreadful according to many. What does he have to do? You have to admit that if anyone told you going into the game that he could put up that stat line and we scored 33, you would feel pretty good about it.
