[News] John Harbaugh 'Very Confident' In Offense Rebounding

56 posts in this topic

I would love if we traded the Vikings for Cordell Patterson. For some reason he can't gel with Bridgewater and would solve two major problems we have. Arthur Brown and a 3rd round pick seems about right. We would have a very bright future with Perriman, Patterson and Darren Waller. All lightning fast and have the size to dominate 1 on 1 coverage.

If coach is that confident that we are going to be a very good offense then i gotta believe things will get better. Hopefully, your right Harb's.

Coach was confident Perriman would be back before the season started. IJS.

Sad game offensively last Sunday. I look at the OL and playcalling more than anything else. Denver had a good pass rush but we had a top rated OL last year and brought them back this year. Inexplicable.....I hope they get back to mauling defenses ASAP.

Let's see if we win the next two games, especially against Bengals at home in week 3 and get at least a tie for first place in AFC North before panicking and heaping disparage comments. The odds are in favor of Ravens to win next two games. Denver game is one and done, time to move on.

Cut Wagner ASAP! He was the same joker to stink it up in 2013 against the Broncos. The guy can't handle a speed rush-period. Before you neg me look a the tape. Tape don't lie. Also fire Castillo. Is that fool still the OL coordinator? I haven't seen such uncoordinated OL play since 2013 and 2014. Wait.... Any way, there was this one down where the Broncos rushed 4 and we had 6, yes count them, 6! players in pass protection (the OL Juskyzeaefec...you get me). He stayed in the back field to pass block until he realized it was a 5 on 4 advantage Ravens. As soon as he left the backfield, anyone want to guess what happened?, Joe gets sacked...again!

It gets better! Joe goes into shotgun formation for one play and gets sacked in 3 secs. Wow, I mean just Wow! What can you say about that! Great NFL QBs need how much time at a minimum to throw the ball?! Fire the OL coach!

People here need to calm down. The biggest issues on the offense right now are Perriman and Monroe. There are very few right tackles who can stand up to Von Miller. If you also have a weak LT, you can't slide to help the RT and you're immediately in trouble. The super bowl year, the Broncos came to M&T and annihilated the Ravens because they couldn't block Miller and Dumerville. The difference in the rematch in the playoffs was McKinnie started, and Oher held up on the right, and Flacco had time to throw to Torrey.

Eugene Monroe has been a bust of an acquisition. I've never seen an offensive lineman hurt so often. It's crazy. Big games against the Steelers, Bengals, Patriots, and now Broncos, he hasn't shown up yet. And I kept saying over and over and over last year to keep Deonte Thompson. And a bunch of people on these comment threads kept talking about Aiken, and Brown and these other people. You can't teach speed!! With those two dudes back, the offense will be above average.

Real talk! I remember watching the pats play the squeelers in squeeltown when the squeelers were dominating and the pats prolly set a record throwing the rock that night because of the pressure the squeelers were bringing! The Ravens offense need to approach big games the same way spreading out defences and attacking them the same way they come at them! The Defense will get tired like they were Sunday but the Ravens started slowing down and start running Buck Allen! Gotta stay on the gas and go three and four wide until they break! Or just keep pointing fingers!

Ozzie- Do you miss Torrey Smith now? You let a proven guy go to draft Perriman? Someone who can't get healthy? All the pass plays were short because on the other side, we have a 36 year old receiver. Come on' man...

Plus, we let Jacoby go as well. Bottom line, I don't see the offense being as productive as last year- the defense looks better this year, but that was also against a 45 year old Elway. We'll see in the upcoming weeks, but I don't think we make the playoffs this year.

Totally irrelevant to your point, just providing their stats for week 1.

T. Smith.  1 catch for 11 yds.

J. Jones,  1 KR for 24 yds.

24 yards is that what the Ravens receiver got the for the whole game and the 49ners won.

The Ravens offense had a forgettable debut Sunday in Denver.

The group never found the end zone, committed two turnovers, struggled to find room in the running game, couldn’t protect quarterback Joe Flacco and didn’t produce a play longer than 22 yards.

^ Pitiful! Smh!

After the first game, injuries to Perriman and Monroe are not even my biggest concerns. It's the offensive play calling.

I swear the play call was as if Cam Cameron was back on the sidelines. Remember this game plan from couple of years ago: run on 1st down for minimal gain, shotgun short passes on 2nd and 3rd? Pretty much praying for a miracle to get a 1st down, just so we could do another run up the middle.

If this kind of crap continues, it won't matter if we had Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones for receivers, we still wouldn't be a potent offense.

Just for context to my opinion, from ESPN: "Since entering the NFL in 2008, Flacco leads all quarterbacks with 493 attempts over 20 yards in the air. Last Sunday, he threw one pass over 20 yards and it was a 22-yard completion to Marlon Brown.

"It’s tough to maintain 15-play drives consistently and score points," Flacco said."

"Better not look down if you want to keep on flying. Put the hammer down keep it full speed ahead. Better not look back or you might just wind up crying. You can keep it moving... if you don't look down!" #BBKing #TheKingOfTheBlues

I think Campanaro was targeted once in the game. I cannot believe that when pressure is coming on every single down, he couldn't find an open spot in the middle of the field to exploit. The play calling was unimaginative and did remind me of Cam Cameron. Trestman needs to do better.

What really bad is they new the pressure was coming and the Ravens had NO answer in their playbook or personnel. Other teams have noticed!

I liked how the refs handled the BS from manning's wrist motion fakes during a obvious effort to force Ravens into an off-sides. Come on manning, that was too brady-like. You never see Flaco cheating with fake hand snaps to get an easy 5 yards via the refs. Play straight up like a Man, not a wuss.

I wish the Ravens would sign Robert Meachem for a low contract!!

Have him in the interim til Perriman gets back. Then have Smith, Perriman, and Meachem with Aiken and Brown to rotate in; pretty nice group of recievers.

If the offense stinks again this week, I will be ready to sign the fire Marc Trestman petition

There are a lot of legit concerns and deficiencies which are obvious for all to see on offense. I don't know why, but I feel less concerned than I have been in prior years, despite rather blaring failures on offense last week. I am still confident that most issues will be fixed, adjustments will be made, targets switched up, schemes will be tweaked etc and that the offense will end up pulling together a strong season. Confident that our defense will shine, even without Terrell. I am not naïve to the host of problems, just optimistic that this 2015 team will find its stride and go far.

right there with you salamander. I think our offense kicks into gear Sunday and it will be smoothe sailin from there. Denver is likely the best defense in the league , we were on the road in a tough Denver atmosphere, we were missing a couple key players, and it was the first game of the Year! Be patient fellas, this is a marathon not a sprint, and we know what flacco is capable of. This offense will eventually be even better than last years , and our defense is obviously much better.. We shut down a HOF qb and high powered offense to zero touchdowns. So I'd say were in pretty good shape.

Yup January J, I agree. The offense in particular needs the most adjustments and will continue to get better as the weeks go by. Have a feeling there may be some bumps in the road but the all in all trend should be significant increased success in the offense. I think the Ravens will be a serious threat on both sides of the ball when all is said and done.

"We'll be a very good offense this year", Harbaugh says. Words are So easy to say. Being a good offensive football team in the NFL is not something that you just say and then it becomes fact. I hope Harbs is right. I really do. I'm just saying, it's a whole lot easier to talk the talk than to walk the walk. Now, he's said it. The question is, can the players make it happen? We've been down this road before. Think 2013 and OL. Until I see our OL play more like it did last year, I'll reserve my judgement. This offense will not work unless our OL doesn't continue to lay eggs like it did last Sunday. And, BOY, do I want to see Perriman 100% healthy and on the field. I really want to see what he can do. I Am a believer in him, but I'm sure anxious to see him come through for us. But, honestly, he could be the best wr in the league, but unless our OL gives Joe time to throw it won't matter.

Far more often than not, Joe typically has a strong showing following an abysmal performance. Given that it's the Raiders, and they're (likely) without both their starting safeties, I'd say conditions are going to be ripe for a great rebound by the offense. Go Ravens!

The OL Still has to block. I don't care if the Raiders don't play any safeties at all. If the OL does not give the QB time to throw, it doesn't work. EVERY game is won and lost in the trenches. The OL lost that game for us, nobody else. Kudos to our defense. It played Tremendously. That's the Only reason we still had a chance to win it near the end. And we should have. SSS should have caught what would have been the game winning TD. The ref should have thrown the flag for PI for the defender Not turning around for the ball thrown to Gilmore. As bad as our OL played, our defense gave us those two opportunities to win the game. Thanks, DEFENSE! If the OL shows up we can win. If it plays like last Sunday, we probably don't.
