[News] John Harbaugh 'Very Confident' In Offense Rebounding

56 posts in this topic

Even if he's healthy enough to go this week, I don't think Breshad will suit up simply because we should want to get him off to a good confident start in the NFL which is much more likely to happen within the comfortable confines of M&T. We need to ground and pound the Raiders. Their d-line is one of the worst in the league so if we can't do that then we have much bigger problems than wide receiver.

I don't understand all the hype over Perriman, he practiced what, one week?  The NFL isn't college ball, he could very well be a bust and here we sit anticipating he's going to tear up the field.   I hope I'm wrong and he plays well.

i will not pick on trestman after 1 game. he deserves several games before i will praise or complain about his play calling. the lack of quality receivers on this team is on the front office. the o-line needs to get back in sync as they were last year and that will make a huge difference. if marlon and kamar stink early in the raiders game i hope trestman will change it up and line up maxx williams wide and get gilmore involved more as well before waiting until the 4th qtr. or give waller and someone else a shot if they are activated.  o-line is the big key moving forward. not sure there is much available receiver wise in free agency. we missed the boat on some guys like james jones.

aaron wilson reported on twitter that perriman should be back by october. i typed breshard perriman and it came up. if true it looks like he will miss about 4-5 games maybe longer depending on rust and understanding the playbook. if we need to trade a 3rd or 4th for a receiver better than kamar and marlon than oz needs to pull the trigger. hope these 2 step up this sunday

The offense has no place to go but up. But that will depend on getting back to basics and getting more protection for Flacco along with some serious targets which don't seem possible. No replacement for Torrey Smith. If we did get a good receiver the management would just trade him away anyhow.

First game, I'm willing to overlook the offensive fiasco in Denver. Offensive line will get it together. The question is when? That's Castillo's job. It's obvious that we have a glaring problem at WR. We lost our speedster and everything else is set in slow motion. Torrey didn't catch every ball thrown to him, but he got out there. So did Jacoby. Damm, I miss those guys. If we don't explode in Oakland, I will come down on Trestman. I don't want him explaining that smoke got in their eyes from the wildfires.

Others may not complain about Trestman, but I will. Kubiak didn't need 5 games to get up to speed when he came here. I think week 1 we should have been ready. We weren't. We can blame everyone from Flacco for his game and Ozzie for drafting Perriman, but the offense was vanilla, it was weak, and the offensive line which was a huge strength last year looks like the 2013 Ravens offensive line. I am sorry, this is the NFL, they don't give extra weeks to new OCs to get ready. With just an inkling of offense we would have won that game. That would have been a huge boost to this club. It needed that win. I am sorry, but I am extremely disappointed in Trestman's first showing.

I really hope our O-line gets healthy and in sync quickly because I can't take seeing Flacco getting hammered like that again.

If Monroe isn't back this week(and if he is and is struggling) and if Wagner and/or Hurst struggle, please put someone in there to chip earlier in the game than they did in Denver for the love of all that is holy!  Give Flacco a chance to work.

Totally irrelevant to your point, just providing their stats for week 1.

T. Smith.  1 catch for 11 yds.

J. Jones,  1 KR for 24 yds.

Ravens should definitely take a look at Brandon Lloyd the dude averaged 24 yards per catch last year with the 49ers, with their run oriented offense. He has good speed and runs crisp routes, one of the problems with the 49ers last year was they had Crabtree and Boldin so he was way down on the depth chart. From his videos highlights, he could possible still have something in the tank.

There are a lot of legit concerns and deficiencies which are obvious for all to see on offense. I don't know why, but I feel less concerned than I have been in prior years, despite rather blaring failures on offense last week. I am still confident that most issues will be fixed, adjustments will be made, targets switched up, schemes will be tweaked etc and that the offense will end up pulling together a strong season. Confident that our defense will shine, even without Terrell. I am not naïve to the host of problems, just optimistic that this 2015 team will find its stride and go far.

LOL, yet, but he caught 14 balls.

Averaging 21 yards per catch is an unsustainable number, and we all know that. If he actually caught 50-60 balls, I guarantee his YPC would be half of that or less in this offense.

And then there's the always popular caveat of if he was so good why isn't he on a single roster in the league right now... everybody has the same information we have at a minimum.

Harbaugh said. “We’ll be a very good offense this year.”

I would love it if we were a great offense this year.  Shoot for the stars Harbs.

Far more often than not, Joe typically has a strong showing following an abysmal performance. Given that it's the Raiders, and they're (likely) without both their starting safeties, I'd say conditions are going to be ripe for a great rebound by the offense. Go Ravens!

wagner looks like the type of guy that will take his poor play personally and rebound nicely but i cannot say the same about monroe. when his head is in the game he is solid but we shall see if he gets cleared to play this week

New offensive coordinator, same line coach. Was it Kubiak or Castillo who turned the offensive line around last year? Are we going back to 2013? I hope not. The offense did not play much during the preseason; I am glad we have 15 more games in the regular season to get things worked out.
Tell the 49ers we want either their Ravens' receivers or their U MD receivers back!!! Go RAVENS!

Lets just try and get out of the basement first. How about a third down conversion in the first half then we'll work on the first quarter.

I wonder where John's confidence in the offence comes from... Regular season game 1, offence didn't even board the plane to Denver. Preseason Game 1 and 3 vs NO and WAS (two of the worst defences in the league) they played decent. Week 2 preseason game against a good Philly defense... another atrocious performance. I love Harbaugh but I can't buy into anything he says pertaining the offense. This team needs to open the wallet and pay for a receiver. Mike Wallace, James Jones are a few names that could have been had on the cheap and we didn't even bother to work them out. SMH. Banking on Bustshad Perriman is gonna be this team's demise.

If coach is that confident that we are going to be a very good offense then i gotta believe things will get better. Hopefully, your right Harb's.

Perriman? He hasn't even proved he can catch the ball. Of course there is blocking, route running, getting off the line of scrimmage, staying healthy and the brains to play and understand the game. He's done none of that. If we are counting on him as the savior for the season, we are in big trouble. We are all rooting for Breshad and look forward to his talent, but save this football team....no way. I gotta believe, as in the past, we are far better than that. You have to look st the OC. We were the better team last Sunday with a offense that was confused. Go Ravens!

Yeah, I'd be confident that any team in the league can rebound vs the Raiders injured defense. We win this game by 20+. If the Bengals can smoke 'em, we can too.

Losing in Denver might be a blessing in disguise. Harbaugh said that because of the way the game was going, they were being conservative with their playcalling, just trying not to make a mistake, and they ended up making a mistake. It amazes me that an NFL coach could possibly think that playing not to lose is a good game plan. Had we converted on the final drive and won the game, it may have caused Harbaugh to think that playing not to lose "worked", and we probably would have seen more of it in the future, like when Cam was here. Joe said he wanted to spread them out and get them out of their rhythm. Maybe we'll be more aggressive instead of playing scared next time. Sometimes it takes a loss for change to happen.

All I want to know is, they go the entire game doing nothing and going nowhere offensively and then the final drive they march 70 yards down the field and almost score? Do they lack a sense of urgency on offense, Denvers approach to defense didn't change. Lack of aggressive play is the way I see it.

Maybe this week they will add a little more 'vanilla' to an already 'vanilla' appearing offense.....so on that note, I'd almost bet that we'll see vanilla....at times I think that's all that Joe sees or wants to see is freekin vanilla. You all can get your hopes up on Perriman- like he's our saviour. (looking like a major epic fail with that choice- especially with regards to all the research=- or not, that's involved). And YES- I'm still sour ! On that gripe- PRAY LIKE A RAVEN

Seems like corners have come around. They did a nice job against the much touted Manning. The starting offense needed more time together in preseason imo. Injuries have certainly not been friendly to us as well. If we can't get it together against Oakland then what. Come on Ravens get it together now. Go Ravens.

He caught just about everything in college... and even the contested ones at UCF
