WR Trade

161 posts in this topic

People always do this. "Let's trade Kamar Aiken,Marlon Brown, and Asa Jackson for Dez Bryant"

VERY rarely are player for player trades made during the season.

We got Monroe during the season, but we traded away draft picks to a rebuilding team who was trying to stockpile a bunch of them.

There's nobody out there who is going to give away a player that can help them right now..plus it's week 2 and nobody is out of contention.

Trade isn't happening.

The Ravens just have to wait on Perriman to be able to play and hope that the offense gets better by the end of the season.

Trade to the Jags again for Allen Hurns..... UDFA that has flashed more talent than anyone in our WR corps...or trade for Justin Blackmons rights

The good thing is that Rice's and Ngata's dead money come off the books after the season I believe.  Couple that with the expected extension of Flacco and we should have a decent amount of cap space.  Yanda will be the biggest cost we will have and I expect Tucker to get the franchise tag.  Expect a guy like Zuttah to be cut or restructured as well as Webb.  We should have a decent amount of cap space for the first time in a few years.

osemele and tucker both will cost alot to.

think tag for K went up after pats resigned their K to a pretty nice deal.

think their was another K as well he got a pretty nice deal.

also tagging tucker will only make him more expensive.

we should get his deal done 1st IMO.

The cap will rise also so that does help.  I am operating under the assumption that Osemele will not be retained, if he is not then I think we have a decent amount of money to go out and sign a wideout and/or pass rusher.  A deal for Tucker should get done and if I were the front office I would offer him the exact same deal as Gostkowski got.  Upshaw should be a cheap re-sign as an edge setter and nothing more.  I believe Rice and Ngata's dead money totaled about 17 million or so (which is second in the NFL). That money alone could be used to resign Yanda, Tucker and Upshaw IMO.  But we will see how it plays out, I don't want to think about the offseason to much right now!

Roddy White is someone i see us going after, althought i would rather have Vjax.  Hell, i wonder what is going to happen with Boldin.  This is the problem though when you dont address the situation earlier.  The FO waited until Torrey left which puts pressure on whoever comes in for him (BP) and then you have to build chemistry with Joe, so the learning curve is obvious.  Matters get worse when your number one wr says hes going to retire.  So as of right now we will be going into the begining of next season as BP as our number one wr? thats scary.  Obviously we assume we sign someone, at least we will have cap room next year.

I like White as well, but his decline looks steeper than Jacksons. I really like VJax for this team. It still remains to be seen what will happen for BP and crew, still 14 games left, someone could emerge from the WR group and could shift our focus to CB and OLB.

I think we'll be freed from Rice and Ngata cap hit this year or it should decrease. We should have much more money to work with this year than last. I also expect K.O to depart and we keep Yanda. I don't think it will cost to much to sign a vet WR, Smith Sr. contract from 3 years for 11M, I could see a similar deal or close to with VJax and Roddy White who are past their primes.

I still think we go out and sign a veteran wr... We have always had one and honestly I'd feel much better with one. Who would our veteran be.. Aiken? Sheesh

Aiken actually played well after his  fumble and he would have probably had two touchdowns  if Flacco was a little accurate on his throws especially  on that deep pass where Aiken had his man beat deep. Brown did ok and he also could have made  a big play if Flacco just was little more accurate with his passes.  I don't think the receiver position is a problem at all and I think it's better than the receiver group from 2013.

It's unfair to even judge them  since it's only week 3 at the moment but we shall see.

he did play well after the fumble, but that fumble was a big part of why we lost, it put us down 2 possessions in the first 5 minutes, obviously the defense takes the blame here but that was a huge blunder by aiken, and while he played well, he is completely nonexistent against any average cb and will only contribute when the scheme and playcall is heavily in his favor, and even then it is a question mark, and brown can kinda be seen in the same light, campanaro on the other hand, can make himself available to joe very consistently, the guy has a great knack for getting open and has great hands, and he performs against any caliber of secondary, the other 2 just arent like that.

i do agree though that joe really left aiken out to dry a few times, and im the biggest flacco apologist around here lol

Aiken is a very servicable #3. Im comfortable with him there, not a starter but Im fine with him there. Opposite of BP I really do like Vincent. Reguardless I think its likely WR is addressed in FA or Draft, whether it early or late.

Yeah, I think Aiken is an NFL receiver.  Just not an NFL difference maker.

I agree with you about Aiken, I wasn't hyping him like a lot on here, there's a reason why he's a journeymen. Was just saying he would be our veteran presence once SR goes which does not sit well with me, doubt it will with anyone else either.

What kind of money will vjax command? 7ish range? I think he has some game left and I bet he could teach waller a thing or two about using his frame. But other than white and vjax no other wr comes to mind, can you think of any? Also, I'm willing to bet we adress this issue in free agency so that way we don't have to develop a wr and instead we get instant production.

I don't think VJax will cost too much. He'll be turning 33 this offseason, I don't know if any team will pay 7M for that. Not to mention hes been in a losing team for a while, I think now he could be keying in on winning at the twilight of his career. I don't think it will be costly to have him.
