[News] Eisenberg: New Era Begins With Ravens Iconic Guard Gone

Sorry John, I think J Smith had a serviceable game helped out by the pick 6 however he was beat many times throughout the game playing too far off the receiver. His size is supposed to let him play the bump game and redirect receivers and he did not do that opting to make sure he did not get burnt deep and giving up everything underneath. The ONLY exception was when he jumped the route for the pick 6 which was a Huge play but NO I did not see a Pro Bowl Caliber Corner in Jimmy, not yet anyway!

I don't think an outsider can "lead" at this point. I think it's a Raven that needs to step in and "lead" this team....

J Smith had more tackles this games than any other Raven. Was he perfect? No! But he was the Ravens' best corner that day.

It's time Harbs and Trestman open up the playbook and let Joe lead this team! Our play against Denver was of the same cloth we've seen over the past 7 seasons and 5 different coordinators. If I were to be a betting man, there seems to be 2 playbooks - one that is vanilla and does just enough to keep you in games and fight for the win and the 2nd gets dusted off in the playoffs and the whoop butt commences. I get it, Harbs never likes showing his hand, who does really? But there comes a time when we all must do things we don't like doing and this is one of them, Flacco MUST BE GIVEN THE REIGNS of this offense and let him lead this team. With a pillar of our defense gone we will rely on our offense more this season and it's time for Joe to put this team on his back and get it done!!

#RavensNation stand strong!!!

I would love to CJ Mosley become more vocal and become a leader of this defense as he is a major piece for the future.

We will be fine. First time I disagree with Ray Lewis. Time for the youth to stand up and take over. We have drafted great on defense and we have plenty that can take the lead from the old guard and keep us dominate for the next generation

Lardarius Webb will have to be the vocal leader.

It's usually a top performer and one who is mostly present that leads, Webb has been missing in action too often. It could be Jimmy Smith (he spoke on the podium), D Smith, or even CJ Mosely.

CJ is slowly emerging through his play on the field. Though a different (less vocal) leader who leads by example. Jimmy Smith, if he stays healthy can be, too.

The biggest thing going for the defense to overcome Suggs' loss is stability at D Coordinator. Pees has gotten very used to working short-handed, and I think he's done very well.

What I also noticed about Jimmy, is he got better and better as the game went on..... He does this during the season too, historically speaking..... Every player is kinda getting their footing per se' the first few games, and then they really start to gel..... Just give it some time, like I said in another post, if our defense was this good the first game overall, and I DO think they were definitely REALLY GOOD, then each game they will be better and better too. Jimmy is just reaching his stride, and hopefully the injury bug will take a freakin' hike...... :)

Oh, and Terrell, we will all miss the heck out of you this season, get healed asap, but knowing from my own experience, it will absolutely take some time...... "BALL SO HARD" will continue !!!!!! :)

I would like to see him delete the 3 man rush from the playbook.

It also sounds like Suggs wants to be around.  He may have this surgery to repair his Achilles when he gets back home, and then still be a presence on the sideline.  He very well, may still want to be, our VOCAL leader.

lots of injuries around the league on sunday to several big players.  there were also several  playoff caliber teams that got beat. Indy, seattle, and philiadelphia just to name a few. atleast we lost to a very good team. and barely lost at that. we will be fine. harbaughs presser from san jose was very calming and made me feel alot better about the overall situation. were gonna go out here and put up some big numbers in oakland and the offense will really start clicking from there. perriman tali and jerni will be back very soon.

May want to look at Brennen Beyer on the practice squad. Could be a very good situational pass rusher.

Wouldn't hurt to have him practice with the ones and get a look.

Suggs did not scheme our offense in Denver. The Cam Cameron days of old came rushing back. Three and out looks like super long year. If Trestman is a genius why don't the Ravens have at least one innovative play for Gilmore or 6'5' Marlon Brown?. A slip screen to hold up the rush. A draw play? Suggs is not our biggest problem, staying on offense could help our "D". Kubiak is gone and we reverted to Run,Joe run. and the famous look out blocking.

Unless I dreamed it, Suggs has been injured before, and we've been alright. This is his second Achilles, right? Everyone's acting like this is a career ender.

"New Era Begins With Ravens Iconic Guard Gone" John wants to cement his name he will have to win a SB with out the ghost of that era. Otherwise, John and Ozzie could not have done it without like Ray and Edd.

"To get back to play this game at this level, in five to 5 ½ months is really extraordinary,” Tucker said. “He’s set the standard for recovery from an Achilles rupture.” The Doctor 2012.....................TSuggs suffered the injury in late April and went under the knife on May 8. He triumphantly returned on Oct. 21, notched a sack, four tackles and a pass deflection."

"Imagine if one or several members of that group had also lived up to their high-round status. The Ravens would really be set on defense."

...except Arthur Brown. If that panned out, we probably wouldn't have CJ Mosley.

When a Corner leads the team in tackles that is a cause for concern, the reason why is because he's targeted more than anyone on the field. A corner should never lead his team in tackles.

I agree except in this context because Jimmy Smith played very well every snap on Sunday. Watching the game he did great in limiting yardage and great in coverage. I think he lead in tackles getting to running backs and wide receiver screens. Jimmy Smith was the best player in purple on Sunday. Mosley was probably second with his two sacks and being all over the field.

Jimmy was involved in several run stopping plays if memory serves me. Running back was run wide to his side of the field and Jimmy came up to tackle. It is good team play.

Oakland will be a testing ground for Z. Smith and whether or not the Ravens bring in a vet. I hope Smith makes a strong case for us to simply move forward with what we already have.
