[News] Crockett Gillmore Hard On Himself After Missed Touchdown

Someone should have an answer as to why such blatant PI wasn't called. Pass Interference just doesn't get more textbook than that.

They definitely could have thrown a flag. IDK, but for some reason I feel like if that was the Ravens defense and that pass was thrown by Peyton, it would be first and goal at the one for them.

Agreed, but you have to remember that the referee crew was down one man (line judge) due to one getting hurt early in the game, and I guess they had their hands full trying to make up for the loss.  It isn't an excuse, but just something to consider as a possible reason for the obvious miscall.  I am sure that shook up the ref. crew.

Referee suffered broken collar bone, broken ribs and a collapsed lung and is still hospitalized in Denver currently.

I haven't seen the replay of that play, but I thought Flacco lofted the ball too much. I think he should've thrown more of a direct pass to a 6'6 TE's catch radius. The lofted pass seemed to give the safety enough time to run over and break up the pass.

Im not upset on his final drive miss. Upset he barely shown up the last minute of the game. Where was the rest of the 3 quarters?

This goes with every other offensive players...SHOW UP OR GET ANOTHER JOB!

yes- the loft wasn't all that great...needed to be either higher and, or further back; the defenders entire arm was sandwiched in between Gilmores hands- giving the defender the advantage. Shouldn't have been an issue if Smith caught the TD. I'm tired of lamenting..."off to 'Cincinnatti'" :)!

To tally: Hurst, flacco, smith, gillmore and flacco all blame themselves for the loss. It's good that they are hard on themselves. That should motivate them to practice & get better at said things. Remember, trestman said the offense was hit or miss in training camp partly because of all the youth on that side of the ball. They'll take time but surely have the tools to improve.

Gilmore if you don't like it better hope John H doesn't feel the same, because you'll be in the dog house and we won't see you for a month or so. That was a poor throw by Joe IMO.

I'm just happy that Flacco survived that game. That d-line outplayed our o-line all day. Just two field goals is going to get an L every time in this league.

Crockett, you are blessed with incredible size and athletic ability. Don't waste time beating yourself up. Instead, burn this moment in to your memory and realize that the fans and the Ravens know you will learn to latch on to and channel that same pissed off determination you found after the Robinson pile drive to dominate anyone who dared get in your way. You are young and have everything it takes to be a great TE in this league. Your future is bright and I personally love watching you mow down the opposition. A penalty flag could have been thrown and the pass could have been better anyway. I like the attitude that you intend to fight for and come up with those contested balls coming your way. There's a monster player inside of you itching to be released. Can't wait to see it unleashed. Ooooooooooo boy. Look out NFL.

Don't be upset Crockett, Outside of Gronkowski, no other TE in the league was coming down with that ball. A defender draped all over you, and a ball hawking play by an Ex Raven...Make up for it next week.

How is a pass that Gillmore had both hands on uncatchable?

Joe should have thrown it farther. Remember when the Ravens use to throw those high passes to Brown? What happen to that play?

I don't care about him missing that one. It was seconds left and tight coverage. Flacco had to try to make a play when the route was, frankly, covered well. If we had more time and it was first down, maybe he throws that one away, maybe not, but given the last second situation, he had to try to force it in there. It was well contested and they got kinda lucky on the tip-INT, but Flacco and the team made a mad-dash effort to march down the field with the clock running out; they worked the 2 min. drill the best they could've. I credit Flacco for keeping poise and staying composed on that drive.

Could it have been a better throw... yea, could he have caught it... yea, could it have been a different play... yea, but its over now so let's prep for Oakland and get better.

Joe just lobbed the ball. Gilmore had 2 guys on him and that means somebody else was open. Again we had time outs we didn't need to go for it all on that play. It is becoming a habit with him lobbing the ball for interceptions.

I don't expect Perriman back until Wk 3 or 4, so until then we need to do more back shoulder throws. Defenses aren't scarred of our speed so I can see deep back shoulder throws to Brown being used alot as our big plays just like in the game, which was the longest play for us at that time, at least until Perriman returns.

The Broncos scouted the Ravens on that play and had it just been Brutun it wouldn't have been a problem, but Stewart was sitting back and was waiting for that throw. They said as much. I cant blame Flacco or Gilmore, Stewart made a play. As I said somewhere on this site already, enjoy that Stewart, it was the only play you made in the last two years and will probably be the only play he makes for the next two years.

The ball was a tad under thrown as Gillmore had to reach back and over the defender to try and catch it; if it were thrown higher for Gillmore I think he would have made that catch but there was nothing he could really do with the defender in his face and safety help at the catch.
