[News] Who Steps Up With Terrell Suggs Out?

39 posts in this topic

Keeping Orr, McClellan and A. Brown on the 53 was a great call considering.

My guess would be to use the hybrid approach:

Left side: McClellan on run downs and Doom pass rush.

Right side: Upshaw on running downs, Z. Smith pass rush.

A Brown put on weight and was in the backfield a good bit during preseason. I would give him a shot at rush linebacker before McLellan, Orr or Z Smith. He has that quickness the others lack and he really showed well in the preseason.

Mostly against 3rd and 4th string guys looking for a roster spot.  As an ILB, how much experience does BROWN have coming off the edge?

As I recall, this is a contract year for Upshaw. Having him working third downs may be sufficient to get him a big contract. I fear he goes the way of Kruger, McPhee, Ellerbe, etc. On the upside, if he does get a big contract elsewhere, it means he will have been very good for us this year.

Wrong approach IMHO. Since whoever "steps up" will be a steep downgrade from Suggs, the question is not who the guy is gonna be, but how Pees can adjust the D to account for - or at least minimize the effects of - Sizzle's loss. I turst him to get it done as well as possible.

I hate that Suggs is done, but my main concern for this team, is can they keep Flacco upright, can they block?

I thought our O line was a strength, now it looks like a glaring weekness, something resembling Swiss Cheese!

The O-line has to do a much, much better job - but on the other hand, the Von Miller-Ware pass rusher duo they had to contain is the best in the league...

we got 4 sacks none from Doom or Suggs, maybe play more 4-3 if we can get that kind of push from the front 3....I'm sure the coaches will figure out the best combination.....

Off the field, who is going to step up and provide a few brief moments of levity and fun to keep spirits up over the grinding long haul? Brandon Williams, you may be called upon to fill a specific role for a dash of uplifting smiles and laughter like Suggs brought to the locker room. Practice busting a few of your best locker room dance moves.

Our problem isn't the defense at all....like usual its the O and the new coordinator and our hapless qb........Missing Tyrod Taylor right now and to all of you that said he can't qb you we're wrong......its joe that can't do the job consistently....Our D is just fine and will score most of our points this year....

Upshaw steps up, we'll see McClellan making plays also whether he play while Mosley play the hybrid type. Ravens next man up brings the fire, we just need Jernigan back on the D-line to power up with Williams and the young Davis on the inside.

Ravens have to pick up a vet pass rusher.

I rather have our young guys. Upshaw is a better option, he is in a contract year and IMHO he can step up.

4 years in the league he better show something. He has learned from the best.

Upshaw is this generation's Jarret Johnson. I think it would be a bit unfair to expect him to get a ton of sacks when that has never been one of his strengths. JJ was with us for so long yet he never established himself as a pass rusher.

Its a big hit for sure, but in 2p12 the D was just fine without him. Well be ok. Plenty of other guys that can step in. Doom will certainly have to go back to being a 3 down guy which he used to be. And Upshaw and Smith can swap out. McClellan to spell Doom when he needs but hes been getting a break for the whole time hes been here lol. Doom is the one gotta step up and take Suggs place so the others can continue as normal. And Peabrain is ginna have to adjust to that and not have our CBs 10 yards off the line.

Upshaw time! he didn't many chances at pass rush his first few years. Now he'll get his chance. He has the size to run over linemen.
