[News] Joe Flacco: Offense Has 'A Lot To Work On'

76 posts in this topic

Like I've said all along, we should've never let Torrey leave. Plus, we also let Jacoby Jones, our other speedster, leave at the same time. This was a terrible mistake by Ozzie. Did he really think Steve Smith was going to get separation and could you tryst a rookie (who is injured) to learn the offense and be as productive as proven Torrey?

It's funny that people thought we were going to go all the way to the Super Bowl- Unfortunately, I really believe we don't make the playoffs this year. No speed = no fear for opposing defenses. Now, Steve Smith and others can't get open because no one can take the top off like Torrey did. Ozzie an draft linemans and linebackers all day long, but keeping/ recognizing a productive receiver is not something he comprehends.

Agree with Joe, but the Offensive line has the most to work on. Joe would have picked denver apart with more time. Denver is a very tough team to run on with their front seven, so Let's not all go down on Forsett just yet...

I feel like Joe just needs that speedstar, that he can threaten the defenses with. Guess, we underrated Torreys departure and Perrimans injury.

Joe and Trestman has alot to work on also.

You can put plenty of blame on the run game and pass protection (everyone was disappointing), but it starts with the QB, that's why he get paid the big bucks.

You better rip the Raiders to shreds Joe!

Joe Flacco didn't mince words about the offense's performance after Sunday's loss in Denver. "We really didn't do anything the whole game," Flacco said.

^ Thanks for the honesty Joe!  The offense was pathetic!

Perriman isn't going to make a huge difference. Can anyone even remember the last time Joe dropped back and launched one that hit a WR in stride? We threw 1 ball down the field Sunday... 1!. Maybe the offense needs to always play like were behind with 2 minutes left.

Trestman ain't the answer. 1-3 pre-season against scrubbs. Peyton off kilter and we have no answer to outside speed rushers. A draw,a screen, quick slant....................anything other than the Cam Cameron Koch punt offense. Stretch, zone, finesse blocking failed again. Good Luck with the NFC west Ds on the horizon. I pray Trestman-Castillo scheme doesn't

make the Raider D great again.

The only thing I liked is that both SSS and Gilmore took ownership of those two passes they couldn't finish on. On SSS's, yeah, the defender was able to throw his hand up just high enough to obscure Steve's vision momentarily but, like he said, he should have made the catch. It hit his hands, went through them and hit him in his helmet. On Gilmore's, yeah, the defender Absolutely should have been flagged for PI for not turning around for the ball but, he, too, had the ball in his hands, but was unable to secure it, allowing it to be knocked out of his hands and into the air for the interception. These guys Have to be counted on to make catches that hit them in the hands. But, truth be told, they didn't lose the game for us, despite both of them having the opportunity to win it for us. The OL has to take the blame for this loss, along with the coaching staff for not making in game adjustments that were so obviously needed. Trestman, also, did a terrible job of calling plays as pointed out many times in reference to the constant run calls on first downs that never did work.

How about throwing the ball on first down once in a while? Maybe a little play action on 2nd and 7 or 8 instead of another deep handoff that leaves you with 3rd and long? Perhaps a few inside handoffs or draws? Or was Harbaugh happy with the reincarnation of Jim Caldwell, circa 2013?

yeah the playcalling was definitely very predictable. i thought on that last drive inside the redzone we should have went to forsett again. either with a screen or a draw out of the shotgun. he just had one big run earlier in the drive, we should have gave it to him again, last year it seemed like when he got hot he would make multiple big plays consecutively. but either way the defense knew what was coming and switching it up would have been nice. anyways, woulda coulda shoulda.

I thought the playcalling was abysmal. It almost seemed as if Trestman wasn't going to be accused of getting away from Kubiak's run-first philosophy.
