[News] Joe Flacco: Offense Has 'A Lot To Work On'

76 posts in this topic

Given the talent level on the offense, I don't think there will be much to work.

Heck, Fitzpatrick has Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and Flacco has Smith, Aiken, Brown.

I thought the problem was with the OL mainly yesterday. The tackles were hard to watch and Flacco was scrambling for his life on almost every play.

There is HOME JOE, PLAYOFF JOE, and ROAD JOE. We saw ROAD JOE play again. Reminded me of the Eagles game, lots of DUH moments, like he panicks and blunders..need Joe COOL on the road. Play calling can help him out, plays that get the ball out quicker if the Oline doesnt pass block. Cmon man!

Anyone else afraid that Kubiak was the reason our offensive line was so great last season? Makes me wonder if Castillo is having them work differently this season or something...

I don't really think Perriman is going to be a savior in his rookie year. Everybody knew he needed a lot of development when we drafted him. The Broncos defense is a really good defense and I think we need to wait another week or 2 before going into crisis mode. The Broncos have two of the best pass rushers in the NFL and two of the best corners in the NFL and I honestly thought it was surprising to see the Ravens hang in while essentially using the opposing coach's offensive playbook. The defense played really well without Suggs and Jernigan at least. Let's see how the offense deals with Oakland, Aldon Smith and Khalil Mack are no joke, hope they make some changes this week.

I don't care if Perriman was playing, Flacco had zero time to throw a simple screen pass....Kubiak obviously knew how to attack a offensive line he developed for us.....They created enough chaos to break our wedge, and came up the middle or around the edges all day long.....

I went to training camp this year and the first thing I noticed was how Monroe was just taking it easy. Not only that, but he is spindly legged and everyone was pushing him around like nothing. He barely showed up last year and this year he lasted one series. He was here game 1 so as a vet we are stuck with his salary for the whole year. He should have been dumped before Jacoby Jones. For the $750,000 Jones cost us he would have at least filled the returner role and he could have taken the top off the defense. I can see letting Torrey go for 30 million but for about what we pay a rookie, we wouldn't be in this spot right now. I love Ozzie but I am not afraid to say he misses some times too. We put all our eggs in the Perriman basket and if they didnt know about his genetic knee issues during the combine they screwed up and if they did, why didnt they get us someone else who can stretch the field. Our defense played their butts off and our offense let them down. From OC, to QB, to line, to receivers, to running backs, they all played horrible.

Can someone tell me why they didn't double team Demarcus Ware? O-line better get it together quick. Also Perriman isn't the only one who can go deep, so don't be afraid to air it out.

Come on man, you think Castillo is going to tinker and change what was successful last year? Under Harbaugh's watch? Let's not forget the Ravens had the same type of game last year against Houston with Kubiak as OC in which the Ravens ran for only 30 yards total. The offensive line was just as bad with Kubiak/Castillo in Houston as Trestman/Castillo in Denver, every team has games like that.

One mistake i think Trestman made, as far as adjustments is....When the edge rush is coming at you all day, you roll the QB at that edge rusher (Ware)....They should have been moving the pocket to buy Joe some time to get some simple slant, and seam routes completed....JMO......

It's not that Flacco didn't have the time to throw deep. There were times when he could have, but to whom? We don't have one receiver who can out distance the corners much less the safeties. Letting Torrey and Jacoby go was a decision that has come back to haunt us for the entire season. I don't expect much from Perriman this year. He hasn't even practiced. Watching Campanaro awaiting kick offs makes me think he's in Harbaugh's dog house. What did he do wrong? The Ravens have James and Ross sitting idly by waiting, I suppose, for Camp to be carted off the field.

1. Castillo has never been the problem.

2. If that were the case... how did you feel Kubiak's offensive line did yesterday? Make no mistake... they're saying the same things over there that we are today about their offensive line as well.

"We really didn%u2019t do anything the whole game,%u201D Sure you did! The Offense is making sure that if Ravens do get in the playoffs the Ravens will be on the road again.

"Ravens Secondary Shows Major Strides In Opener" Lets see how they do now the Suggs is not being double teamed and the QB has more time to throw and able to run the ball.

Anyone who compares Trestman to Kubiak is living in La La land. The adjustments to the opponents game plan are slow in coming, if at all. Of course, Kubiak had Torrey & Jacoby to work with while Trestman has only possession type receivers on the field. If they don't get Perriman on the field in short order it may be a long season for the offense.Even just as an option if not ready for prime time. Otherwise, all the opponents will do is stack the box with 8 players thus thwarting the R's running game & the dink and dunk passing attack. There's no plan B here and that's not Trestman's fault. BTW... Did they give Perriman a physical before drafting him and did he have a history of knee problems in college?

Ravens have a powerful offensive line , NOT an athletic one. Last year they had problems with speed outside rushers. They do need Perriman back ASAP even if he's used as a decoy. Need the threat to open up the running game and to spread out the D. The D played great and I loved what I saw from them. Suggs will be missed more so on the leadership role then player. Even he said he's on the back 9 of his career. I think the rookie and Upshaw will fill the void. On the leadership role I think its Jimmy Smith time.

I think this week is a huge game. If they struggle and still win I'll be concerned IF they lose I'll be even more concerned. They have to duplicate what the Cincy did its as simple as that.

I guess my comment didn't get posted. Why wasn't camp in the game more often he has the ability to get open? Why not used Darren Waller if we needed someone to stretch the field he is big, and fast?

Also it might just be me but Forsett was barely breaking any tackles yesterday

Ravens never seem to adjust during a game. If your offensive tackles can't handle the rush then they might need a TE to help. Just like a three man rush is music to Manning's ears.

Joe needs to be smarter with the ball, throwing to a spot and hoping your oldest receiver (who is being covered by on of the best cb in the league) can make the catch is plain stupid. Throw the ball away, even intentional grounding would be better than a pick six!!!!!!!

Just a quick shout out to all of the fans who ever posted that Tyrod Taylor did not have the ability to be a starter in the NFL. You may have been rash in your judgements. As for the Ravens 2015 offense, better days are ahead, but with the mediocre receivers we have, there may also be more days like this.

You guys are being too harsh on our team. There is no excuse for losing like that, but this team went into Denver, facing Peyton Manning, and that Denver D, at Mile high stadium, surrounded by crazy denver fans for the season opener... and held Peyton Manning and that offense from getting any TD's. Not to mention we didn't have our 1st round pick replacement for Torrey Smith in that game. You win some and you lose some. We lost this one, but the last time we lost horribly. I appreciate the effort and fight this team gave and I expect them to only get better. No better test to open the season than playing against a QB like Manning in enemy territory.

If Steve Smith or Gillmore had of caught that pass it would of been our game, so lets not act like its the end for us.

I agree Ozzie missed with Jacoby Jones for such a low cap number. Jones had only one opportunity to run and returned for 24 yards yesterday (The others were fair punt catches or kicked out of reach). As for Monroe, not sure if I rather have Hurst playing as there are games where Monroe is the best offensive lineman PFF wise. Monroe played hurt last year, at least give him credit for grinding it out while hurt. Anyone can get a concussion at any time, not his fault. As for Perriman, his knee injury has nothing to do with his past knee issues as a teenager, in fact, I don't think he missed a single college game. Perriman's father had the same knee issues when he was a teenager and end up playing in the NFL for 10 years. Patience is needed for Perriman to heal, he is very young and has a lot of years ahead of him. Ozzie will be proven correct once Perriman heals and plays football again.
