[News] Steve Smith Sr. Puts Loss On Himself

75 posts in this topic

Ravens played a really good defense. And they played against Peyton Manning and held him to no td's. They nearly held their own to boot. Just a play or 2 either way made the game outcome. I can't complain. It was over 100 degrees on the field and over 5000 ft altitude. This was never going to be an easy game to begin with. At least Manning didn't get 7 td's like 2 years ago. You gotta believe the offense will get better. There's no place to go but up.

Taking nothing away from the Ravens D but Peyton looks VERY OLD. Come late October/early November he should still be able to "Fling It" a good 5 to 7 yards.

It's no way Flacco could have played that any better. He gave Crockett a chance which he almost made the play but it was ripped out of his hands. Flacco cant make the receivers catch on top of throwing the ball. He throws a dart crockett is not catching it. He was up against like 2 or 3 denver players. Not realistic at all

i kinda agree bro...but you dont thin that ball took so long to reach crockett? and that time helped stewart to recover the ground lost? and pick the ball

With all the injuries on the field on sunday for both teams, I think it would be interesting to look into injury history in denver in September or when the temperature is above 80. Maybe they should schedule night games, or be forced to play on the road the first few games if there is a higher correlation of injuries at this higher "elevation". If player safety is truly a concern that is something that should be looked into.

Disappointing as a fan, and losing Monroe early was a tough break. Losing T-Sizzle is a major shock to the system.

I will say that those were 2 of the Best Defenses that I've seen playing, against one another.

Back to the Drawing Board , get the replacements in stride and get ready for The Raiders.

Perhaps since Brown received as many or more passes and more yards than any other receiver, then perhaps we should be looking to put him in the game more often and throwing to him more often. I guess I wonder why we didn't go back to the play that we ran against the Vikings during the snowstorm with Brown in the back of the endzone. I like Crockett Gilmore but we have to be able to either make that pass or throw it incomplete because we still have one play to run, it was only third down. I personally question Trestman and his game plan and his play calling. Trestman didn't change the game plan to help with the pass rush by chipping the defensive ends and he waited until the final drive to open it up. I need to see more from Trestman, a better gameplan and better play calls before I start harping on the players.

Sr is a class act...he is right he brings that catch in and the Ravens win. Crokett same thing. Big time players make big time plays. Ravens had chances, tough game for both teams. It comes down to making the BIG play. This is critical, sure we can analyze and pick all the plas down...but in the end a big play wins that game. No if, and, or buts.

Yeah it may have been late and I doubt crockett was his first read too.....crockett had his hands on the ball and flacco did what he could to win that game....our oline played horrible and von was eating that left side up.....i just think our fans are really trolling right now about the game....we lost by 6 and not the amount of TD's peyton put up on us last year....def played good and joe did good by not having a protected pocket and receivers not getting seperation

I know it was on the ofense, but my man flacco kinda sucked...on that pick six and on that jump ball...c mon man throw a dart over there no a slow ball were the safetys can recover their time and take the ball from gilmore....gilmore was in front of him in the beginning of the play.

Yeah, Flacco is good at hitting receivers when they're open, for the most part, but that one would have been tough for anyone to complete.  However, in Flacco's defense, he had to try to make a play; we were running out of plays and time.  He does loft the ball a lot, which does give the defense time to get over there, I agree with you there, man.  I think we need some time for the O.C. Trestman and Flacco and the whole offense to get acquainted.  We should dominate Oakland!

It's for sure the Ravens looked bad but the Broncos imo were a lot worse. Our defense was awesome! Offense needs more work together. Suggs will be missed but I think we can overcome that. We need receiver to stretch the field. Next man up and on to the next game. Go Ravens.

Agreed minus the part about the young guys. The young guys people on these boards always overhype are JAGs. The fact is there are no offensive playmakers to be found anywhere on this team.

I don't think that's true. For one, Campanero has had too little opportunity to really show whether or not he can be a reliable weapon for us. IF he can actually stay healthy for a full season, he is a shifty little dude, and the perfect slot type of guy.

As for Aiken, I don't know what to say about him, except that he looked good at times last season, and this pre-season, but I do not think he is well suited to be an outside starter. At all. I think Marlon Brown would have won that spot back if not for his back issues in camp, and even so, he came on strong late in the preseason, and had a big catch for us against the Broncos. If Flacco would look his way more often, instead of constantly trying to get the ball to Smith Sr., I think we'd see some good production. For such a big dude, he can run good routes, and has sticky hands. He had 7 TDs his rookie year, and I think if we would just go to him in the passing game more often, he'd come up big for us.

Then there's Waller. I don't know how often he'll be active, because I don't think he's a ST player really. But he is a huge kid who they seemed to like enough to keep, that we still don't really know if he can be a reliable weapon either. But I wouldnt' say we don't have playmakers. I think once Taliaferro gets back, and hopefully stays healthy, our fun game will pick up, because he's a much more powerful runner than Allen or Forsett. The perfect change of pace back. If Forsett isn't getting it done for a stretch, as he wasn't on Sun., then a bulldozer like Ferro is just what you need. The dude can play, and he's shown that.

Brown had 7 TDs because there was nobody else to throw to outside of Torrey.

They might as well try out Waller because nobody else is impressing.

That's not necessarily true...  Brown ran mostly crossing routes in the middle BECAUSE we had Torrey and Steve on the outside.  We used our TE's more last year. We had Owen Daniels.   He's gonna get a better shot at it this year.  And with Perriman, I think we are going to develop into one of the better offenses.  As for Waller?  He is there.  He played on ST on Sunday...  He'll get his time.  I'm not sure he's as developed as people wish he were right now.  I absolutely think he will be...  he just needs time.

The sky isn't falling.  We weren't even "supposed" to win that game.  I was happy that it turned into one in the end.  It wasn't a blow out like we've seen the past couple of season openers.  I am overall, very confident....
