[News] Terrell Suggs Suffers Torn Achilles, Done For Season

64 posts in this topic

A heartbreaking injury and very tough lost. I wish Suggs a speedy recovery. Upshaw will do his best to make sure there is not much slack off, if any. We got many great players on defense, they will overcome this just like we did in the past.

Harbs is putting a good face on it, but I'll bet he's plenty worried. Suggs is not easily replaced. I feel sorry for him too; he had hinted that this might be his last season, and this isn't how he would want to go out. He was out with a torn Achilles the season we won the Super Bowl, so it can be done...but this is a far different team. Now one of the veterans and leaders won't be here this season.

When I heard the news, while I was driving home, the DJ was saying everyone online was acting like the season was over because we lost one guy, but every post I have read has been pretty positive. I am sure they will bring in a veteran, be it Freeney or someone else, the guys on the roster now need to help pressure the qb.

Courtney Upshaw should be salivating at the opportunity in a contract year to feast. heal fast Sizzle.

Wish we would have extended him. I am sure his agent is salivating now.

Have to admit... I have been very critical of DPeas... (and I am not saying that I wont be moving forward) but wow...the D looked very good today and has potential to look great even without Sizzle!

Watching Dumervil, Ware and Miller play tonight had me thinking why did Suggs come to camp not in shape again. I still like him just he's football lazy, he had no real impact tonight rushing which we truly needed from him. Hope you get well speedily...

I love Suggs but he seems to disappear in games and show up for Pittsburgh/New England. I love the guy and it does suck to lose him but I want to see what the young guys can do. My only real fear is the loss of experience and edge setting.

Well, we lost Suggs, but we should get Jernigan back next week. Our D-line was great without him, and he should make them that much better. He should be able to help create some pressure on the qb from up the middle. We just have to hope that the secondary stays healthy now. I think that if we would've traded Suggs for a healthy secondary last year, we would have won the SB.

Sizzle leaves very tough shoes to fill, but I believe the depth on this team will handle his loss...... Like was stated earlier, we have been through the loss of him and Ray Lewis at the same time, not to mention significant losses every single season, the team will carry on...... Heal asap Terrell, we will miss you terribly this year, and time for some young players to step up ..... :)

This injury kills us but tortures him  as he has to sit through 15 games.   Time for Orr and Upshaw to wear 55 on their chest.

Sure did not expect this one. I was worried about Flacco getting injured and this one blindsided me. A shame for Sizzle to have to go through this again and miss the entire season this time. Going to be a rough season this year.

Suggs is a massive loss. We will feel it big time. Without Ngata or Suggs, this is a whole new era of D in Bmore....and his leadership and all-around ability will be sorely missed. That's a void that not one player, or even several combined, can truly fill, guaranteed. The best we can do, honestly, without bringing in some sort of FA, is to slide McClellan out to OLB, which he has played before, and activate Brown at ILB/ST. And of course activate Smith and see what the kid can do. I still say we need to leave Upshaw on the field for passing downs more often, let him get after the QB. But regardless, our D will feel Sizzle's loss. Notice, if you will, that we dominated their run game, until he went out. Then we started giving up a few good runs to them. I expect that to happen more often, as Suggs was excellent against the run.

We all feel terrible for Terrell as he is a top guy on and off the field. Big shoes for Courtney. I forgot about Monroe the week we traded for him. He didn't want to play then and didn't. A player who looks for reason not to play is not a Raven Player. He can be counted on at 2nd string at best. Great effort by the Ravens....Joe knew before the ball left his hand, on the interception return, it was a huge mistake. Game changer. It happens to the best...on to the next game feeling pretty good about the away game top effort. Go Ravens!

I feel for Sizzle, injuries a pain. We'll get to see what an end of an era looks sooner than we wanted to, though I think he'll make a come back. If not this season, then next. However, everybody was complaining about Ravens being ranked so high, going on about how Ravens work best as an underdog. If that's it, then we are in a prime position now. No deep WRs, no Ngata, no Sizzle, a lot of questions. If it's true that Ravens best thrive in adversity, well then the fertilizer is in, earth is watered, seed is planted, time to grow! We have a bunch of young guys, who now have opportunity to capitalize on.

What a stinky Monday. All in all, I thought we played well against Denver. Come on! We held them to ZERO offensive points! And we hung in there on the road in the season opener. But this news really sucks. I hope Upshaw is ready.

It was a really good showing all considered for the team. Suggs injury: not so much. He will be missed. But Ravens are all about 'next man up' attitude. That's what makes them an elite team year after year.
