[News] Game Recap: Broncos 19, Ravens 13

108 posts in this topic

Suggs loss hurts no doubt but I firmly believe that this defense is good enough to withstand it, this defense showed itself to be top notch today in all phases of the game, and as long as that remains true the Ravens will be able to win every game they play this year, cheers to a good season Ravens fans, fix your frowns, we've got a squad!

In 2013, we got spanked by Denver in 1st game, some fans were flipping out in a may day mentality and Ravens nearly made the playoffs. In 2014, we lost the first game to Bengals and fans flipped out even worse because it was a division rival, many even said Kubiak was a mistake plus the usual fair weathered fans who loves blaming Flacco etc and Ravens nearly made it to the Super Bowl. Today, many fans already threw in the towel and playing the same old song once again, even though it is only 1 game. If Ravens wins the next two which is very doable, they will at least be tied for first place, just like that. Patience and faith people, it is a long season.

If Joe can get enough time to get the ball out comfortably, this will be a whole new offense next week, we have weapons. We just need to get the ball out to them.

Suggs getting hurt really sucks. We may have just seen the last of suggs. Boy...

I'll just talk about the game...

Positives: Defense, Tucker

Negatives: Everything else

I mean... we all saw what happened. It was basically a replay of last yr's game against the colts except the broncos' qb can't throw 15 yards downfield.

The defense was fantastic until the 4th q. I won't even hold that against them, though. They were on the field all game & got gassed due to the altitude. It was also hot out there. This defense looked like it was championship caliber until suggs got hurt. sigh. I still think this defense will be good but let's be honest... that suggs injury is massive.

Jimmy smith was awesome. If he stays healthy all season, he'll be an all pro (yes, all pro!). Will hill was great in the box. I didn't like some of the completions webb gave up but i can't really complain... i mean, the defense held manning to 0 touchdowns for crying out loud. They freaking pick6'd him 1x and daryl almost picked manning off, too. The only bad thing i could say about the defense was the 1st half playcalling by pees. I didn't like those 3 man rushes w/ the corners playing so far off of the wr's in the 1st half.

The offense was horrendous. The fast, physical broncos' front 4 dominated the ravens all game. The ravens' offense folded. Eisenberg's most recent article touched on flacco & trestman addressing their propensity to fold on the road w/ that type of defensive strategy.  Nothing in that department has improved. They are the same type of sucky offense when that happens. Press the wr's, dominate w/ your front 4 and pressure flacco into throwing quickly and into tight spaces. That's what they did. It worked. I'll also say that monroe being out wasn't the only factor. Yeah, hurst got owned. However, von miller was killing wagner all damn game. This is going to happen again sometime this season... will the offense be ready? Probably not.

What kills me is the ravens had a 3pt lead over a broncos team that couldn't move the ball downfield if their life depended on it yet decided to throw an inside slant on 3rd down. Flacco threw it blindly. He anticipated smith getting there when in reality, talib was in prime position to pick it off from the get go. Throwing the ball there was a horrendous, rookie type of decision. Period. I'm not saying that lost the game but damn... you have to exercise better judgement there, right?

I'm not crushed about the loss, though. The ravens had a chance to win and will have a chance to win every game going forward because of how good their defense is. za'darius is going to have to grow up fast. This is also upshaw's chance to make some money this offseason. I hope they step up in the absence of the ravens best defender (suggs).

Oh, oh, i almost forgot. If the ravens think steve smith and campagnaro are legitimate options for punt and kickoff returns, they are kidding themselves. Yeah, camp didn't get a single opportunity today but he is injury prone. Steve is too old to be doing that. Call up one of the guys from the practice squad to return punts/kicks. Risking steve smith and camp on special teams when the wr core is a disaster doesn't seem smart to me... call up charles james and make him do it.

Beat the raiders! GO RAVENS!

the offensive line clearly struggled today they'll get better as the season goes on. so let's not panic, Flacco just couldn't set his feet at all he seem to get hit all the time after he threw the ball. let's give credit to both teams defensively. They played great. well I do think that Gilmore was face-guarded and there was no call the official could have easily made the call the DB did not play the ball.

Its a tough loss all the way around...However it was no gimme game The Broncos have a very good team with seasoned veterans on all sides of the ball and the Ravens darn near pulled out a win. It stinks but it would have stunk more if the Ravens never started to adjust and keep the game close and competitive. I guess what I am trying to say is the silver lining is the Ravens did not just roll over and quit. The Ravens have a lot of work to do but that's expected week in and week out isn't it? I just want to see who steps in and plays like a Raven with Sizzle going down. Prayers for a speedy recovery going out to him...

The Ravens got robbed, that was pass interference, #30 never turned his head to locate the ball he just put his hands up and ran into Gilmore. Oh well.

The biggest loss of the day was losing Suggs. Get well soon T-Sizzle.

"JamesA19.....maybe u should try throwing with defenders hanging all over u....make no mistake, this was an O line fail....not a Flacco fail. Did u watch the game? Flacco was being hit, sacked , hurried all night."

O line was definitely atrocious, (I mean the O line looked worse than we've seen in a long long time) however that doesn't mean Flacco has to mail it in. The O line had a job to do and Flacco had a job to do as well, and neither did a good job today

The Defense puts the Offense in a position to win just like against the pats and the Offense doesnt Take Advantage! Saw alot of positives but so I'm not worried at all Get well soon Sizzle chin up!

Defense looked really sharp, giving up no touchdowns to a top offense, just needed one touchdown out of the offense to win this one, which they weren't able to provide..

Yes... because no other qb in the NFL gets hurried or has receivers let them down. NOBODY is exonerating the o-line or receivers! But as an NFL qb you never get a PASS for having a 38.2 qb rating. And if it offends you that people say your qb played horribly on a game RECAP page... when he had a 38.2 qb rating.. Then I pray Joe Flacco is giving you a cut of that 120 million for going out of your way to make excuses for him. I'm not calling for his job... just acknowledging that he had the worst qb rating in the NFL this week.. by far.

Even when Suggs left the game, Manning still couldn't produce. That means the loss of Suggs had very little effect on our defense. I think we'll be fine even without Terrell Suggs. Get well soon my friend.

I get your point but nearly nearly nearly is not impressive. starting out winning 9 games was and that got it done.

It blows my mind how fans are being hard on Flacco. Flacco has no Antonio brown, M Bryant AJ Green, Sanu. I would love to see what Flacco could do with some real weapons. To me it's a joke to be hard on Flacco with what he has to throw to. Ozzie we love you but you cannot draft this position. Please make a trade and get a guy like you did when we got Boldin. Give Flacco a chance with some real weapons.

The Broncos D certainly didn't need any help, but our play calling made it easier than it should have been. Before our 2 min drill, we ran the ball on 11 1st downs, which led to us converting only 3 1st downs.(27% success rate) We passed on just 5 1st downs, and Flacco was 5/5 on those attempts, which led to 4 1st downs(80% success rate). Getting stuffed on almost all of our 1st downs made us extremely predictable and put us in 2nd and 3rd and longs, allowing their D to pin their ears back and come after Joe. When we threw on 1st down, we got positive yards, had more options on later downs, and it almost always led to another 1st down. I really don't understand why so many of our OCs don't like to make in-game adjustments and go with what's working. I was worried that Trestman would run the ball simply because he thinks Harbaugh wants a "run based offense" and that looked to be the case today. I understand that our O-line and receivers were getting destroyed, but we had success when we threw on 1st down, and we should have tried more of what was working. We need to be an aggressive offense. We can't worry about "establishing the run" when it's repeatedly putting us in bad situations.

Where was Kamar? We were going to make the defense pay for blitzing? Didn't see any of that? So much for getting Joe weapons? Offense just sucked. Monroe has got to go. Not worth the money we are paying him even before concussed. Guy is always hurt. Our receivers just aren't good enough plain and simple or just don't show up on game day? Defense played well enough for us to win the game, Offense lost it. The good news is there is a 3 way tie for 2nd place in the division.

There is a long list of teams who started 9 - 0 since 1966 and much fewer went on to win the Super Bowl. Look what happened to the Pats 19 and OH NOOOO !!!

Well, now that the Ravens vaunted offense stunk out the stadium, does anyone still think that their 1-3 preseason record wasn't really them? The offensive line was awful the entire first half, and Flacco was awful in the second half. They should have rolled over Denver. Peyton Manning couldn't move and he couldn't hit anything longer than about 8 yards. Why the Ravens didn't get after him was mind boggling. They rush 3 men and still can't cover. Webb is a joke. It is a shame, but it is time for the Ravens to realize he is done.

Nobody expected us to win this one. We almost pulled it out despite the Offense never getting on track. I feel we rush things when we had a time out and a little time to take our time. We didn't need to go for end zone when we did 2 times in a row. Getting the first down would have been better in my opinion but what do I know? Just saying....

The Ravens D is back! I know sizzle is gone and i hope he has a quick successful recovery, but our players on D looked great. Williams and Davis on the line were moving piles and dominating O-lineman, Mosley and Smith played great against the run and came in n blitzes and did well in coverage--beside a potential pick six for smith lol. Pees found a way to utilize talent to get to Peyton.Jimmy Smith is on a whole other level right now and even Webby looked pretty good too. Hill was all over the place as well disguising coverages and making plays on the ball everywhere. I hope Upshaw and Smith step up to add pressure with Sizzle gone. I wouldn't mind Pees bringing in A. Brown and McClellan on certain blitz packages too. I'm praying Timmy comes back to get inside pressure and Permian lights in up in Oakland! We got this Ravens Nation!

Just scrolled down and read a long list of whiny misplaced overreactions... imagine if Smith catches the touchdown- are Denver fans sitting at their computers talking about how Peyton needs to retire and Kubiak's new offense is a failure and CJ Anderson was a one-year wonder and the offensive line is a joke and they're hopeless with their current personnel? Maybe, but if so, they'd sound as stupid and ridiculous as all the complainers on here. We just played ONE GAME. Flacco has these games every year. Aiken proved to you all last year that he's a very good player, but no receiver is going to catch passes when the QB has .04 seconds to get rid of the ball. Besides that, Harris and Talib are one of the best corner duos in the league. Get over it, move on to next week- We're still Super Bowl contenders.

What game were u watching that you came up with that bogus assessment about the defense and Webb, the Ravens looked like contenders out there that defense was amazing this team looked nothing like it did in preseason open your eyes the sky isn't falling, you should be encouraged, the offense will be fine, it's fans like you that irritate people off with your negative erroneous crap.

Even my good friend who is a die hard Bronco fan admitted the refs blew the call on the last interception in the end zone . The defender was face guarding Crockett and never turned to play the ball . Clearly should have been pass interference with first and goal from the one . I guess another Miracle at Mile high was not in the cards . Of course no commentator has said anything about the obvious missed call although I haven't had a chance to watch NFL network yet . But with that being said our OC and offense is way behind the eight ball . Only game one and this is a marathon not a sprint !

Perriman needs to come back ASAP and we also need to trade for a veteran wr!!! Aiken isn't a starter and he NEVER will be , he stinks as does the rest of them! Should've won this game!

Fans are funny creatures, we gripe, moan, whine, and overreact to things some believe are unattainable and can't be fixed, people have bad games folks it happens these are humans, the offense wasn't in sync today, now when they go and blow out Oakland next week you people will be singing their praises, now what's really disappointing is that some of you are so naive and caught up in fantasy numbers and madden like stats that you fail to realize just how good this team is and can be. This team has the potential to be great and dominate, a real contender. Point is there are more positives than negatives.
