Potential FA Pass Rushers

123 posts in this topic

Hali makes the most sense in terms of trade. It fits our MO since he'll be a one year rental we can evaluate next year who gave us trouble in the past. Those seem to be the guys we target when we look at veterans. He'll also be financially cheaper and there's the Andy Reid connection with Harbaugh.

It's certainly possible but I'm not holding my breath atm.

Just went through all of the practice squads as well to see what was out there, and it's not much...

The names that stood out were Stansly Maponga, Larry Webster, and Anthony Chickillo.  Maponga is the only one with any experience, and he hasn't done much with it.

Yes..Tamba Hali would be a good option. He's still got some left in the tank..hes a bit younger than suggs with  less mileage.

Whats he owed though?

Hali making way too much money to fit on to The Ravens cap.I saw somewhere that the Ravens currently have less than 3 million dollars in cap space at the moment. Hali cap hit is 6 million  and he had down year last year by having only 6 sacks. I wonder if he's on the decline

It's not happening, at least in my eyes, but we'd only take on the prorated portion of the $1M base salary he has, so we could conceivably fit him under the cap.

Hali, hell no? Too much money, and he's proven. In theory it makes sense to get something for him rather than nothing, but why trade away a damn good pass rusher? sure, I said mid rounder a few pages ago, but I doubt the Chiefs are stupid enough to actually do it.

Oh wow I thought The Ravens would be taking up  his  awhole 6  million salary but cool. I don't think it would happen either and I honestly don't see The Ravens trading for outside linebacker.

Yeah that $5M bonus is already paid out and stuck on the Chiefs cap.  We could get him under no problem, but I don't think that's the type of move we're looking to make.  We don't have any leverage since it's obvious we're in need of a pass rusher.

How often do you see NFL teams try quality pass rushers to other teams, especially one's playing under an affordable contract?

I think we are greatly reaching into the big of praying vs the bag of realism with these Hali talks.

Johns good friends with reid..

who knows..

frustrating that we didn't make the move for aldon smith. Could have been a long term solution too

Aldon Smith was never happening with all of those issues.

they took in Jah Reid...

and they won with him anchoring their right side , against jj watt, who had good looking stats but wasn't a difference maker.

Hali would be a great addition but at what price would we have to give up? Im honestly not sure I'd give up on Monroe yet tbh, our options at LT is not that great at all outside of him. Especially for a one year rental.

We will be fine on D on the other hand we should trade for a WR.

It's really hard to say The Ravens  need a wide receiver right now because honestly on sunday Joe Flacco could have had a bunch of Jerry  Rices out on the field on sunday and still got the same results because the offensive line was that bad.

Just thinking out loud here, but I remember hearing a while ago that Jameel McClain was switched to OLB while playing for the Giants. How did he do?

That was in the 4-3, which is a different role. He played mostly MLB for the Giants last season and didn't fare well.

Could be........until he picks up another drink an throws all logic out the window.  Smith with his issues is only a short term solution.

@AaronWilson_NFL: Ravens worked out Shaun Phillips and Jason Babin today, per NFL personnel notice neither immediately signed

It's Babin Id take personally. That dude is the epitome of a pass rushing specialist. Phillips is a good rusher but it appears he fell off a cliff

If those are my two options, give me Babin as well.  Like Freeney, he may not have great sack numbers, but he continually pressured the QB.  I think Freeney was a little more productive though, which is why I'd opt for him.  Both are situational guys either way you look at it.  I have no interest in Phillips.

I like Freeney better than Babin as well. I think Babin had 27 quarterback hurries while Freeney had 40+ quarterback hurries. I always thought Freeney was better with his hands on the dirt as defensive end rather than standing up as outside linebacker going after the quarterback but it's quite clear he can do both . I'm not sure if he's a good run defender though but that shouldn't matter to The Ravens.

Nice!

Glad we moved fast. Babin was my preference. Wouldn't mind us going after someone else as well....Here's to hoping playing for a contender inspires him to ball out
