The good, bad and ugly vs Broncos

That's exactly it. Crockett had little chance of snagging his in double coverage, but Smity dropped an easy TD. Pisses me off.

Crockett had single coverage.  Stewart only got there AFTER the bobble.  He was never double covered

Joe wasn't great, but hardly the reason we lost. Play calling and no legitimate receivers plus an 11min drive in the 4th quarter are why we lost.

Plus SS dropping a touchdown.

The best stat was Marlon Browns 2-25 on the day. No team can win with that type of total. I know Denver was stout on defense but not many team gets to shut Payton out of the endzone. May be a littler to face later this season as his arm wears down but this could have gotten us in a good spot starting out for the season. Hopefully Perrimen and Pitta come back soon because we need some more playmakers on this team. Marlon and Aiken kinda vanished from this game and has been for a couple seasons now so If this does not change it will make the move that allowed Torrey to leave to look real bad.

Last post I'm making on this game. Our defense is nasty and the offense will improve bit by bit as the season goes along. I told you guys Buck Allen would look better behind a real OL. Maxx and Gillmore just need time, they will be an awesome duo late in the year. Trestman also just needs more time, he did some good things in the second half. Hate losing Sizzle but it's still next man up(shaw).

Perriman will be a game changer for the offense and Jimmy Smith is top 5. It's not how you start it's how you finish. It's about peaking at the right time and this team is built to peak late in he year when it matters most.

But when is Perriman coming back? Because this offense will be garbage until he does.

Trestman's debut, Flacco still not a guy who can't overcome his team's lackluster play or weakness, Monroe who is cottony soft, continued lack of in-game adjustments not just this season (no change to the end rush, no chipping, little screens or draws, etc...) Pees continues to play off coverage!! Yeah, coach just let the speedy receivers run free!!

Safeties and corners MUST respect speed. They don't with our current cast. Also helps the running game, cause guys play fuether from the line.

doesn't matter if the QB doesn't have time to throw the ball.....

I love Jimmy.

8 tackles and INT, a PD , and a TD. He WILL make the probowl. His confidence is sky high.

Disappointed in the amount of pessimism about the Suggs injury. It is a big loss for sure, but I believe we can overcome. This defense has plenty of talent.

Would you have said that about Flacco if Smith catches the TD pass ? . He would have overcome the lackluster play then wouldn't he?

I agree . It's a bad loss but we have plenty of defensive talent .

The Good: Dean Pees actually making an adjustment after getting beat a little in the first quarter. Allen ran the ball well after a disappointing preseason. Brandon William was a MONSTER. Secondary was on point most of the game. Koch punted some good balls. CJ Mosley had moments.

The Bad: Entire Offense... Coaching staff included. Marc Trestman handcuffed him the entire first half with his awful play calling. Yet another year where we will not pass for over 200 yards against ANY team with an above secondary that plays press man coverage. Not ONE screen... not ONE shot deep down the field... no rub routes... nothing that other NFL offenses use to counter press. We just gave up as soon as they didn't play the soft zone coverage Joe sees 75% of the time in practice.

The Ugly: Offense Line was just HORRIBLE. Wide Receivers played like the worst in the NFL.

The Heartbreaking: Suggs out.. just ouch.

Most QBs can't overcome WRs dropping gamewinning TD passes.

And it's not Pees's fault that Webb sucks. Overall the D was fantastic.

Did we watch the same game?

My over reaction to a week 1 loss: that SSS drop reminded me of several bad drops washed up receivers have had for us to end a season in dramatic fashion.

TJ - 4th and 17

Lee Evans...

I feel like there's so,e more I'm forgetting at the moment

I don't know-remember when the Lions played Dallas last year? That got wonky re: contact and hands up, etc. They felt jobed to from the league's explanation.

Of course as a fan of ours I want the call today, but if that is called the other way on one of our defenders I am more livid.

Refs didn't blow this game for us, our offense did in the first three quarters.

I hear ya. But if you don't turn your head to look for the ball and play the man, it has been called PI. They talk about it all the time, the DB has to turn his head to look for the ball.

I agree.. it's just that it's Suggs.  One of our leaders.

It has nothing to do with passing. If you know the qb has a cannon and the wr has speed, the speed has to be accounted for in some way.

... and it wasn't even that good of an o line performance either. He did well to get what he could on his opportunities.

I'll admit I was among the doubters. I even commented that he didn't appear to be "ready for primetime". Glad to eat those words. Still like to see LT back, but it is good to see Allen spell Forsett and not appear to be any sort of a liability.

Unlike Lee and Housh, I expect SSS to bounce back.  He's a very prideful player, I'm sure that play frustrated him immensely.

It wouldn't have mattered today either...  When your QB spends an entire day running for his life, he doesn't have time to throw it to him...  Their pass rush was expected to be brutal.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, SSS had about 4 drops in the first half of his first game last year.

But still, I was disappointed in SSS today. Not just on the drop of the game winner, but his performance overall. In a game where we were getting out played physically, we needed his 'ice up son' attitude to help turn things around. I didn't see it.

Not true....  if you stop the QB from throwing it.  It doesn't matter who's downfield.  We proved that ourselves with Manning today and our 7 sacks

Hurst reminded me of The Matador , Oneil Cousins over at LT .

Ware was on Joe within a second or two .
