The good, bad and ugly vs Broncos

737 posts in this topic

The good: I'm fine eating crow on Pees. After the first series he adjusted well. He really does need to give up on that 3 man rush though. We get burned every time. Secondary held up for the most part. I'm excited to see the defense develop this season.

The bad: O line performance but we were facing a stout D line. I am concerned at the lack of any adjustments from Trestman to attempt to counteract that fact though. Until the last series he ran the same 4 or 5 plays the entire game. Scares me tbh. No WR separation yet again. And drops. Ugh.

The worst: Suggs' injury. :(

Doh! Good call. No penalty on the play then period. Just an underthrown ball, lack of execution in the catch, and a nice play by a guy we passed on.

The context of your statement is that Face guarding isn't PI... But it is. You said it, I didn't.

Wouldn't be surprised if Suggs does retire after another devastating injury. Either way I bet we're taking a rush LB early next draft.

A huge good ths game was Brandon Williams, he dominated up front better than I've ever seen, Including with Ngata

We lacked the speed. We should of had waller out there, at least they would of Had to account for his speed. I'm not saying waller is going to be our number one or anything, but it's not like it could of hurt anything....

The coaches must don't have alot of faith in him right now which is why he didn't get a chance or Trestman overall just thought Aiken, Brown, and Campanoro were better.Waller is the fifth receiver on the team not many fifth receivers get playing time

Sorry, I was trying to say at the very most it was face guarding, but as you pointed out this ain't high school, so faceguarding wouldn't be called there. So to clarify (or attempt to) the contact was incidental (IMHO) and not to the level that a flag should be thrown for PI.

When we lack weapons we know what our offense will look like. Look back at any game from 2013, with that being said it seemed like trestman lost faith in Flacco early. But good fight, we won't win 8 games playing the way we did today. Let's rise again baltimore

Absolutely. Man, that guy clogged up the works big time. Now that Ngata is gone, he's the man. He now has that role and so we'll be seeing all he can be.

Our offense is in much worse shape an 2013. We are not going to be a good team this year.

Denver has an amazing defense. Why is it on this board that if we play a good defense or someone on the other team plays better, it turns to well that must mean our guys are horrible. Give credit where credit is due, you try to play OL and stop Ware and Miller from getting to Flacco. Also the O-line got better once the game got going, we need to work on getting off to a fast start.

Their defense is good. I'm not teying to take away from them. But you can't have pressure in your face before you finish your dropback. Most of the sacks they got weren't even coverage sacks. We have a good front and and Peyton had time. Some of it is also on Flacco. He's not making it easier for the tackles to block their man.

The Good - Defense. Have to give Pees high praise.

The Bad - Trestman. Not a convincing debut at all.

The Ugly - WRs

The Uglier - SSS drops game winner.

The Ugliest - Suggs achilles, lost for the season. Could it be a career ender?

Nope. At most it was face guarding. Both men were in the air and defense did not gain advantage. While competing for the ball it was merely incidental contact. The best question is was the pass intentionally underthrown?

hmmmmm............face guarding is PI.  He didn't turn around, put both arms up with hands in Crock's face.  Simple PI call that's made all the time.

We did show some fight though. I only wish Trestman was not so vanilla in the first half. They blitzed and played the run the whole first half and we did not roll Joe out one time. I admit I was very upset by the lack of adjustment.

This is inexcusable on Trestman's part.

Especially after we established the run enough in the 2nd half to start working designed rollouts off of play-action.

Watching highlights of other games where QBs with actual receiver corps are actually completing passes to them.

For actual TDs.

Will we as Ravens fans ever get to see this with our team? Looks like we're drafting WR high again next year. (At least we better)

Despite all the mistakes...if we had any offensive playmakers worth a damn, we win this game.

Same. Story. Every. Year.

Nothing for our O-Line performance?

One thing I noticed is we played better when Joe was in the shotgun than under center. I'm surprised we just didn't continue that when we needed to score. Every time Joe was under center the defense either pressured the Hell out of him or the run was stuffed.

Flacco threw not one, but TWO game winning TDs on the final drive. Smitty and Crockett need to make those catches -- not understanding where the Flacco criticism is coming from. He played very well considering Ware and Miller got to him before the ball did all game long.

Not happy with the OL...if you aren't even going to try to protect the QB, at least open up holes for the RBs. They did neither the entire game.

Other than that, and Suggs, and losing....lol....there were some very encouraging signs as well

Nope. Faceguarding as in blocking the vision of a reciever is not a foul in the NFL.

That's exactly it. Crockett had little chance of snagging his in double coverage, but Smity dropped an easy TD. Pisses me off.

Losing this game is not even close to the loss of Suggs. I wasn't devastated at losing the game but devastated to hear about Suggs. CSN was saying this could end his career. I certainly hope Suggs comes back next year. Heartbreaking news.
