The good, bad and ugly vs Broncos

The offensive line was embarrassing , flacco was hit nonstop, dunning game was average and wr were nonexistent. Steve Smith was a joke today.

there is just something about flacco that will forever be infuriating.

Everyone within one hundred yards of a TV set could see the way we would lose that game would be Joe forcing a throw and it happened.

He couldn't see after seven years how that game was playing out?

Underthrown ball in the end zone. I'd say he cost us the game on the firsat interception.

I think whoever saw this game won't overreact much outside the last play.  We got screwed by that no-call but I'm more upset the line couldn't give Joe that split second to make an accurate toss.

Flacco did his job on the last drive. Our receivers did not. However, Flacco's pick 6 earlier was the difference between the win or loss.

Regardless of the picksix, Flacco had a solid game. The guy always plays solid.

His only faults this game was one bad throw and no o-line.

What does he have to answer? Again, the one thing that has reared its ugly head in Joe's entire career is receivers/Tight Ends dropping passes that should have been caught. It's been the story of Joe's career. Joe put us in position to win at the end and Gilmore couldn't hold on.

What I like to know is why didn't we use Waller? 6'6 big easy target in the red zone, was he inactive? If he was that was a poor decision.

I think Waller was active, but it's Aqib Talib and Chris Harris Jr. out there, and I don't know how Waller would fair in a game like this, I honestly think we should have targeted Marlon Brown.

For me not a "must win". But it hurts because we were close! Liked what I saw from the D! OL injuries a reason we lost! Over all I am happy with the performance of our Team! Think we must grow together! They will get better! Denver has an amazing D! And Manning without a TD… that doesn’t happen often!

No TDs and a pick. Don't sleep on that defensive effort, especially since it comes before the point in the season where Playoff Peyton (or Big Game Peyton) emerges. It definitely hurts, but we were barely beaten by a team who was better on the day. No shame in that.

To whoever I argued with before the game about how Manning looks this year, I will eat that crow now.

If we had any sort of offense today, we would have won that game. Dear lord does he look like he has lost it. Not only did he throw into double coverage when a guy was wide open for a TD, but his passes were just overall bad. There's no way that Osweiler could have done worse than him, in that game.

That was just ugly

Back to back passes that -easily- could have/should have been TDs at the end.  And apparently they decided to really hold their flags today because there was so much that could have been called that wasn't including the PI on that last play.  Defender not only never turned to play the ball, he just laid up on the receiver before the ball got there.

Still, defensive game holding Peyton Manning and the Broncos without a TD in Denver; we'll see how the offense does next week.  It's the first game, how are people already this far gone on the criticism?

I hope he's fine too, Suggs is a hell of a defender. You guys will have a solid group all season

Good game and hell of a defense.

18/32, 117 yards ...

You are not gonna win a lot of games with those stats ...

Add the 2 INTs, though the second wasn't really on him.

that was actually a great throw. gillmore couldve attacked the ball better, he never was a good pass catcher. wasnt the guy to go to with the game on the line. we failed to pick up soild weapons for our offense yet again. its going to be a long season, not sure if perriman will even help. and trestman was an awful pick up.

about sums it up. Flacco and the whole offense was awful all game, but with him at qb You always have a shot. He will give you a chance to win any game at the end, and smith dropped it.

Summed up the day for our o

so that means we will kill the raiders nxt week.

I wouldn't be so sure. Khalil Mack will probably be in the backfield all day.

Yeah, the overreactions are downright stupid. Our defence did really well against Peyton (first and last drives aside, but I think the first one was just getting a feel for what the Broncos were doing) and our offence, while overall disappointing, came close to winning against one of the best defensive units in the league - after our starting LT got injured as well.

I'm feeling incredibly down about the loss, but we'll be fine. I think losing to the Bengals last year in the opener was worse, simply because they're a division rival.

Exactly.  Its the way that we lost (offense struggling the entire game, then coming so close to doing the improbable) that is causing my emotions to run high right now.

I have very high expectations for our defense now.  And I don't think we'll truly see how good our offense is until we see them in Week 3 against the Bengals.

No beef with the mods.

O line, trash. Flacco's poor decision killed the team and Suggs is down.

Tackling was much improved and defense looks solid. If Perriman can make an impact and Pitta returns, offense could make noise. Need sure hands on o and some speed. Wouldn't hurt to get a real returner either. If Patterson is available, make a move.

Denver has an amazing defense. Why is it on this board that if we play a good defense or someone on the other team plays better, it turns to well that must mean our guys are horrible. Give credit where credit is due, you try to play OL and stop Ware and Miller from getting to Flacco. Also the O-line got better once the game got going, we need to work on getting off to a fast start.

Refs allowed Bruton to get away with obvious DPI. Didn't turn head, didn't play the ball. That's DPI 99% of the time. Today was the 1% where the ref should be fired. We should still be playing and had 4 more chances to win, the refs should walk home.

Now the only thing about the game, our offense needs to put points up. This was similar to the Colts game last year where it was low scoring and our offense didn't show up at all. Defense played solid, and should get better as we get Jernigan back and they get in rhythm during the season. Offense though? We may want to give Reggie Wayne a call and give him a tryout until Perriman is healthy.

It looked like a sure fire penalty in live action...couldn't stomach the replay but I certainly thought a flag would come into the picture any split second.

Lets not over react.  We were playing possibly the best defense in the NFL, it is not surprising that our offense struggled.  What stands out to me was the way that the defense stopped Denver's offense.  I'm okay with this.

That's what we are going to do, overact.  Our season is over before it begins.  But honestly, I thought we played Manning and the Broncos tough on the road and had an excellent chance to walk out of their with a W.

Sure our offense looked like doodoo.  But Denver has a stellar d-line and we lost Eugene early (we were already banged up to begin with).  Plus we were missing our speed threat.  It's a tough loss, but I don't see it as a foreboding message for the future.  We will be fine, just had a tough draw of things to open the season.

Under center 3 step, 5 step, 7 step drop... Defenders in his face. Shotgun coach, it's simple. Give Flacco some time, I can't think of any decent pass plays that came from under center.

The defense overall was not just good, they were great. True, it was a luxury to not have to worry too much about the deep ball, but the offense put our D in a terrible spot much of the game. Without a stellar effort, this game could have been a blow out early.

Same old Ravens.  Ugh.  I'm angry so I'll refrain from posting any more 'till I've had a night to cool off.

All this loss means is the Ravens cant go 16-0 for the regular season. Don't get me wrong it burns but its definitely not the end of the world.
