We scored 6 pts on offense. We ran on 1st & 2nd down over 66% of the time.

These are valid concerns even though it is one week.

did you see that offense? Nothing worked, play action, roll outs, slants, crosses, nothing worked. So yea I would just run the ball too.

I still dont get why people are so concerned with this. Miller and Ware are most likely the best pass rush duo in th eleague now that suggs is out for the year. Im willing to bet that any team is going to have issues stopping those guys. We wont face any pass rush like that again, expect maybe st louis.

If we meet them in playoffs we will. Outside of the Chargers each team in the AFC West has 2 dominate pass rushers. The NFC West is no joke either. It's a concern but we'll see how they progress

Oh i agree with you as its a concern, just not to the level of some are making it out to be.   I just dont see why we didnt just switch to straight shotgun everytime, joe barely ever go to set his feet.  Does anyone know where we can find such stats as what kind of dropbacks he did, kind of pressure he saw on each, etc...

I understand all of the rheotoric about the Ravens making the playoffs after bad starts in previous years.

Monroe is soft and Perriman is unproven so I wouldn't bank much on them at this point.  And, "going in guns blazing" isn't dumb when you have the personnel to do that and can do that (like the Patriots looked in their opener)....the Ravens can't and don't!  The conservative play calls are as a result of the conservative personnel on the field!  No one is explosive!  No one is a game changer!  And, no one on the Ravens offense puts fear in opposing defenses minds....no one!  After that embarrasment for a second year in a row in Denver, they can't help but improve for next week.  Let's see if it happens!

Let's trade CJ Mosley, Brandon Williams, Will Hill and Jimmy Smith for Julio Jones, Marshawn Lynch and Gronkowski.

It's very difficult to be top 3 in both offense and defense, the cap kinda limits your options in that regard. Baltimore has always been known for defense, and when you invest heavily there your offense will suffer (a bit) as a result. If the O-line sacks up, I have no doubt we'll have a respectable offense (top 10-12). Combine that with a top 5 defense and a QB that goes nuts in January, and you have a good shot at the big dance.

We're concerned because Wagner was the second best RT in football last year, and he looked like Michael Oher against the Broncos. Osemele and Zuttah were hot garbage too. Monroe was solid last year, but he looked lost in the one drive he player.

Our offensive line was contending to be one of the best in the league; shouldn't they be able to compete with the best pass rushing tandem in the league?

Jernigan, Melvin, and Taliaferro all at Wednesday practice in San Jose. Something's going on. They said Melvin's injury was "minor and common" about 3 weeks ago; and Timmy was reportedly almost ready to go against the Broncos. Our team is reaching Cheatriot levels of ambiguous injury reports.

What? I don't understand. If all those guys practiced today and actually came back to practice last week. What's the issue?

Well to me, the Ravens offense seems to always suffer a lot offensively and not just a "bit" which also in my estimation...always seem to manifest in games like this one.  Again, imo our team's talent level on the offensive side of the ball leaves something to be desired in comparison with other teams (in general).

Oh ok i thought i missed something. You had me worried for a bit. I'm excited to see Jernigan and Melvin on defense and Taliaferro bringing a more physical style to the run game. I thought there were a couple times Forsett and Allen could have ran through tackles but didn't.

@TDavenport_NFL  #Ravens Wed injury report: DNP Monroe (concussion) Perriman (knee) LP Forsett (shoulder) Melvin (thigh) FP Jernigan (knee) Taliaferro (knee)

So did Melvin, Jernigan and Taliaferro practice today or not?  Seeing conflicting reports.

For Clarity

Monroe and Perriman didn't practice

Forsett and Melvin were limited

Jernigan and Taliaferro practiced fully

Raiders should provide a nice test for our O-line with the combination of Dan Williams, Tuck, Mack, and Aldon Smith. Should be telling to see whether last week's dreadful performance was simply a bad game against a good defense or more concerning

I personally thought Arrington looked pretty good overall...  I wouldn't criticize his performance at all.  I'm looking forward to our Defense this year....  We looked awesome.

Arrington had a fine game as a pass rusher, but the Ravens need slot coverage and he had his troubles with crossing and out routes.

Sure, I would love to have those big names on offense as well but I also appreciate a great defense. Offensive powerhouses sometime struggle to make the playoffs, let alone get to the SB. The offense was very good last year with the same cast pretty much - I believe the missing piece against Denver was the abonimable O-line. They were very good for much of last year, against Denver they were nonexistent.

We saw plenty of big plays last year (Forsett, Smitty ..), I think you're gonna see similar plays this year imo - when the O-line man's up that is.

So Skip Bayless aka Flacco hater still picks us to win the division, huh? I'm actually surprised lol.

Thoughts, anyone?

Bayless has started hating us less over the past year or so..

I think the eagles are his number one target and he doesn't like the bengals much

I honestly dont know how fans dont have confidence after that game against the Broncos. Top pass rush, top corners, top offense....

Seriously, these bandwagoneers haven't mentioned ONCE about how we kept Manning from scoring a TD..yet again.

I agree with you. It seems like feast or famine with the offense. Either things go perfect or fall apart quickly. Not sure if it is the competition that we play against or we need things to fall in our favor for success. Usually good offensive teams find ways to put points up in any situation and we do not.

Old adage but proven true time and again: always fear a home team coming off an ugly loss. Those expecting us to romp over Oakland are likely to be very angry next week. Oakland is signing players, etc. to try to improve. Del Rio will have them motivated. I expect a much better fight than they gave the Bengals. I still expect us to win, but I don't think anything about it will be easy.

Lets keep it real, the Manning that didn't score a TD vs our defense looked horrible.  If Sunday was any indication of Manning's play the rest of the year, Denver's defense is going to have to win quite a few games for them.

Looked horrible how though? So many before the game, me being one of them, questioned his play and ability to run Kubiak's offense consistently. But when you watch that game it's not like Manning was missing guys all over the field, slow to get the ball out of his hands or missing reads. He missed two noticeable throws, the bootleg throw and the deep ball just before the half. The next play he missed a read when the defense messed up the zone and the WR ran pass Webb. Other then that Peyton's poor play could be directly credited to the play of the Ravens. I don't care what QB you are, when you get sacked 4 times and have continual free blitzers hitting you as you deliver the ball you are gonna be impacted by that. Often times people seem to act as if the elite guys are immune to pressure. No it affects them the same and we saw that with Manning.

There were some miscommunication in the defense that you'd expect Peyton to take advantage of but he too was dealing with a new offense of sorts. But the Ravens had just as much to do with Manning and that Broncos offense struggling as anything. I give them full credit for the success and full blame for the miscommunications and 11:30 minute drive. But those guys played extremely well and the fact that they still have room to grow should be scray for the rest of the NFL.

I think system and poor OL play didn't help him. As far as arm strength goes I don't think it was bad, he showed enough muscle to overthrow Sanders and crew. I don't think it was that bad at all. I think once the system picks up for him, he'll be much better.

And I don't think it helps with us living on the west coast for a couple weeks. Its a bad situation and we all saw it the moment they released the schedule. Still, got to find a way to come out of this 1-1.
