I do disagree. We lost the game because our offensive line couldn't protect Joe and Open up holes until the end, limiting what we could do. Flacco had to try and force things and made a really dumb throw because of it. It happens. We'll improve. Once Monroe, Perriman come back we'll be fine.

Make no mistake about it, We can't let a quarter back like Manning pick apart our defense like tonight. We can't play off

the line like we did tonight. If you disagree with me please say so.

Manning picked apart our defense? The defense held the Broncos to 12 points on offense.

I hope we do note play 10 yards off the receivers again. I do not understand why Dean Peas does this, tonight Manning pick his guys and then they pick our guys.

Please get a Defensive coordinator who is not afraid to play press coverage.

are you seriously questioning the defensive playcalling?

wow.

when and if they come back, we need to play better, the defense was not good enough, the offense was not good enough.

wow.

I mean, twelve points from a Peyton Manning offence.  That is some crazy stout defense.  I got dollars to donuts this game is Peytons lowest scoring game of the season.   But that is off topic.

I see a sound victory next week.   No worries here.

this thread is for the Raiders game. A game we have not played yet.

If you wanna talk about today's game there is another thread for that.

if cinci can hang 30 on the raiders before they do anything, (at their own house, even), we certainly can do some damage.  (because we DO see ourselves as at least equal to the bengals right?).

i firmly believe we can and will win the next 2 games and have about a 50% of beating the steelers at Heinz (anything can and usually does happen when we play them).

Let's think. We held Peyton to 12 points. We're pissed off. That team is probably going to have the second string QB in......

Offense shows up we might kill them

Today was really rough, but I do believe we can get a win in this one. I'm not going to underestimate the Raiders, because they're as capable of pulling off an upset as any other team. I just hope the Ravens don't underestimate them. So long as the offense gets a decent grip and the defense keeps up what they've been doing, we'll get the win I think.

I do think we're better equipped to handle the loss of Suggs than we were the loss of Jimmy last year.

But man I really don't trust our offense. At all. No playmakers.

IMO our O-line was the culprit for the offensive woes last night. They HAVE to sack up!

We all know Steve is a playmaker (despite that one drop near the end zone last night  ) but when Flacco has less than a second to get the ball out that makes it problematic. Together with the run being shut down, that sealed our offensive fate.

Yanda & Co. need to get it straight, otherwise I think the offense will be dreadful like it was in 2013!!!

I don't think Perriman/Waller would have been of much use as deep threats last night, with the way the O-line played. Joe needs 2-3 seconds for a 9 route to develop - he didn't have anywhere near that against Ware and Von Miller. Marc should have gotten the ball out quicker on short stuff to the running backs and TE's if anything.

We'd be lucky to have the offense of 2013 imo

You have to wonder if the OL truly improved or if that was just Kubiak.

I'm also wondering if Forsett was a product of Kubiak.

Perriman better practice on Tuesday. Still waiting for Waller to be a starter. Camp needs to be used more. Depth chart needs to be blown up.

Waller didn't do much in preseason, I'm not expecting him to do much of anything.

But Aiken, Brown, Waller...mix and match, they're all JAGs who don't impact the game.

Once this team get healthy, they'll be much better IMO. Im very satisfied with the defense, we still have enough leaders and geniuses on the defense and offensively....we can't play worse than we did. We should get Perriman back soon as well.

You guys are way too confident. Khalil Mack will live in the backfield.

I'm assuming Jimmy will  be on Crabtree so Cooper will consistently be open when Webb is 15 yards away from him.

But I figure Oakland will be able to out-terrible us.

You do not think Webb had a solid game against Denver ? I thought he showed signs of the old Webb. Our corners will be fine this year and even with Suggs out we have enough speed to get pressure. We are big, physical and fast on the defense. Our showing against one of the best arms in the history of the NFL did a lot to boost our defenses confidence and they did not allow a TD.

I agree that Mack wil be on Flacco but "IF" we could find time to make some quick passes to our TE corps we should be able to maintain drives and he will tire out on long drives which will make him a mute point.

I think and hope as well Ravens2343 that this is the start of Webb being the Webb we want and need. I think it was a confidence thing and catching back up to the speed of the game. He needed the Broncos game to show himself he still can be productive.

I think the same about Jimmy Smith. I really believe yesterday he showed his next step in being a true shutdown corner who is physical and can fight for the ball.

Arrington was who i was really hoping to see sparks from he was outshined by Webb and Smith with tackles and coverages.

True, and Flacco's impressive streak of consecutive starts won't continue (god forbid!) with putrid performances like last night.

I sincerely hope there's a feeling of embarrassment and urgency in the O-line room.

I personally thought Arrington looked pretty good overall...  I wouldn't criticize his performance at all.  I'm looking forward to our Defense this year....  We looked awesome.

I see a lot more 4-3 defense in our futures also I think we switch things up on offense. We've now seen that Buck can be a really good player so he'll get a bigger role. Waller and Camp should get more snaps. Still praying that Perriman can play.

With all that being said I predict a close game, we'll win but I don't think it'll be by much unless Derek Carr doesn't play.

Yeah, all Waller did was disregard the notion that he couldn't run routes and actually run many short and intermediate routes, consistently show improvement, show the ability to use his frame to box out defenders, show good hands, actual get separation (against 2nd and 3rd stringers before it's mentioned).  He didn't do much at all....unless you were actually paying attention to him.  And no, this is not me anointing him as the next HoF candidate (since people here can't differentiate giving credit and proclaiming and all-star).

I was very impressed with Webb yesterday.  He showed flashes of being a good corner and tackled well.  The one negative play I remember, they were in zone and he played soft and allowed Sanders a first down.  He played well and I hope he can build off of it and keep going.  Our whole secondary played great, especially Jimmy and Hill

I must have missed what y'all saw.  Webb was beat all night.  Committed a bad penalty because he was beat.  Spent most of the night chasing Sanders and was lucky Peyton threw off target a few times.  Webb was rightly abused last night but thankfully the front 7 got enough pressure on Peyton to mask it.

We're facing another talented pass rush this week with Mack and Smith (if he's still allowed to play).

Their team doesn't look that bad on paper. They've assembled a decent amount of talent.

We'll see how our team reacts after staying on the West Coast and away from their families / facility for that time. The players agreed to it, I'm interested to see how it shakes out on the field.

I was more impressed with Webb mainly because he missed all preseason and came and played well.  He was beat a few times but I think Denver's longest play was 18 yards or so? I am not saying he is back to his old form, but his play yesterday is encouraging.  If our secondary can keep receivers In front of them then we will prevent the big plays.  Melvin coming back will be huge to because then Webb can play a little bit in the slot and help out in run support and blitzing

Funny the difference a week makes in what we're wanting to question on our team. Other than health concerns during the pre-season, our O line was not at the top of the list. It is now.

Yes, DEN defense was fierce, but OAK can bring it up front too. The only way this game becomes a major adventure is if we once again cannot run the ball and then let the edge come crushing in on Flacco. We need to control the line of scrimmage on offense and just play decent. Our D should get the job done.

One would think that Carr is very questionable for this game. I'm going to stop short of saying that this game will be easier if we see their backup, McGloin. We've seen too many instances where backups come in and surprise.

Defense is not the question, except for maybe a few mistakes here and there.

The offense showing up however, that is the question - I really HOPE it was opening day jitters + mishaps due to lack of pre season reps together combined with going against what is the leagues best pass rush. Offense was pitiful the entire game until that last drive.

Someone mentioned in another thread if the O-line and running game from last year was all due to Kubiak. Interesting point imo.

It's still early though, let's play 4 more games and see how the offense looks then.

Suggs is out, Z Smith is the only backup listed on the depth chart and no one backing up Z. Smith. Also LT, Monroe may still out so that is another place of possible need. Hopefully, we all know better than to look pass any NFL team on any given week. Need to take Oakland serious!

Many of us were wondering the same, but I believe there is time to get it worked out. We just don't need an injury on the OL beyond what Monroe has already suffered.

I think we learned that the defense is much better when they are aggressive.
