[News] Eisenberg: Gary Kubiak Will Bring The Heat Against Joe Flacco

46 posts in this topic

pees will have to get pressure on manning. i do not believe manning has the arm strength any longer so we have to take his short passing game away from him.

My ears perked up when I heard joe make that comment as well. That was a thorn in our side last year , and i think the screens and check downs could be a huge difference maker in this game.

Kubiak is bringing the heat against Flacco? What do you think Harbaugh/Pees will do? Bring flowers to Manning? Harbaugh is bringing the heat too, known in Ravens folklore as "Who Let The Dogs Out". Manning is the bone and all the doggies will be nuttin for the bone. Go get'em boys, woof woof woof !!!

Bring the pressure we will kill them with quick screens to the WR and check downs, that's easy pickings we will dominate in this game just watch raven nation.

I have no doubt in my mind we will all be celebrating after our Ravens DOMINATE the Broncos. Yeah facing Manning is always scary but he has proved the last 2 years he can't make the deep throws anymore. Have you seen his throws this year? It's going to be a party on the defense, Jimmy will shut down DT and Hill will be over the top making sure Sanders doesn't run right past Webb. Nobody on their line will be able to match up with "The Hulk" Brandon Williams or "The Thing" Timmy Jernigan. Plus having CJ shooting the A gaps will give Manning no time to drop back to pass. I see them abandoning the under center crap and Manning will be running his no huddle offense by the second half. But by then it will be too late with us being up 21-0. Crockett Gillmore will have a ProBowl year and this game is where it all starts. I can't wait until tomorrow..

Houston always gives Flacco problems because they can get there without blitzing. And when they don't get there, they have a bunch of big tall guys that Flacco can't throw over like most teams. I do agree however that Flacco doesn't utilize the checkdown as much, but that is the same with Luck. Flacco is always looking downfield for the big play, and that threat is what keeps defenses in check, and how we make splash plays that lead to scores. I would rather have a QB who can convert on 3rd and 13 than a guy who checks it down for 7 yards and punts.

The only time I remember us beating Peyton Manning was in the playoffs on our SB run. Other than that Manning has always been the kryptonite to our defense even back when we had that #1 rated defense. But now I feel like with the new guys we have who are hungry to win, and the guys like Terrell Suggs who are tired of losing to manning, this game will go in our favor. Im hoping that our guys go there with their minds right.

Gillmore will be the equalizer over the middle, especially if they try a safety blitz. Also, I think Kubiak pulled a Costanza with the uniform choice. Bring the heat, we got Joe Cool... Can't Wait !!!

This is kind of a funny concept. Kubiak will try to do to us now, what worked against us when he was coaching. Could it be that he was a part of the problem? Perhaps we'll find out. Is it Flacco or our O-line that can take the heat, or is it matter of proper planning to counter it?

I'll not consider the Houston debacle. No level of coaching could have dealt with that. We got absolutely man-handled up front and Flacco, who wasn't looking like he was on his game in the first place, was able to do nothing to prevent the offensive slide. The Broncos are good on D, but I won't put them in that category.

This is where not having Perriman hurts us. Whenever teams were able to blitz us successfully last year, they were able to leave our receivers in single coverage, often pressing them to prevent the quick outlet pass. Not only does Perriman have speed to make teams wary of leaving him in single coverage, he was good at getting off press coverage in college and early in camp.

That being said, the Steelers had a pretty good DC last year, and they had no success blitzing Flacco in the playoffs, and neither did the Patriots, who are notorious for attacking other teams' weaknesses. Having Campanaro healthy should help us as well, since he can get quick separation.

The thing about the Broncos bringing the heat is it could work but it could also hurt the Broncos it all comes down to how fast Flacco can get rid of the ball. If he gets rid of it fast it is going to hurt the Broncos and slow their blitzing down but if Flacco struggles on getting rid of the ball they will just keep bringing the heat. Its simple football 101 but Flacco has been in all sorts of games both at home and on the road I know he will be ready to adjust to how the Broncos are playing.

Well like you say John, it all depends on how we play the aggressive kitchen sink pass rush. If we get our run game going and pass protect adequately, I think the Broncos strategy will backfire. But, Flacco has thus far been average when under immense pressure. So, if he has made the leap to circumvent the pass rush and still find his open receivers, he'll be unstoppable. I guess the time is tomorrow at 4:15 PM! We'll find out what we're made of as a team.

And while the thought that Kubiak will bring the heat against Flacco is all nice and gets folks fired up..... He's not the Defensive Coordinator.... So, I'm not worried about our O-Line taking care of our QB. They've done a fine job in the past year or so.

Manning is 9-2 against the Ravens. Ravens won the Miracle Mile High game and Manning's first game against the Ravens as a rookie in 1998, the winning quarterback? Jim Harbaugh. Ravens won the first and last game with Manning winning 9 in a row in between. Here is the ink - http://www.pennlive.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/01/history_on_peyton_mannings_sid.html

Correction - The link shows games only up till 12/16/2012 which I did not noticed at first. We played two more games after that, a win on 1/12/2013 (Miracle Mile High) and a Ravens lost on 9/5/2013 so we are 10-3 against Manning, hopefully we win #4 tomorrow. Thanks Ravensfansince03 for pointing that out.

We will be fine without Perriman in Broncos game. As much as I would like to see Perriman play, I think the Ravens best bet for the most part is the running game with lots of short to medium passes, this is where tight ends, running backs and slot receivers will best throw off Denver's attack with short to medium passes, yards after catch.

Glad to see Bart Scott back with us. His experience as a Raven, and better yet as a part of that elite LB group with Ray Lewis really helps him interview our players and understand what is being asked.

Great insight.  I was 7 years old in 1998 which explains my lack of knowledge pertaining to that. But actually Manning won the last game 2 seasons ago.

Note to Eisenburg: Everybody on this post realizes that Kubiak (not Kukiak proof read, John, please) is going to bring it. So why waste ink on the obvious. Why not, instead, tell us how Harbaugh is preparing to crush Manning. It still unnerves me, against New England, when Suggs and Dumervil couldn't get to Brady, from the edge, when he was dinking and dunking all day long. Come on John, tell us what we don't know and want to find out.

We lost two starting OTs for the year in the Texans game and were missing out LT in the Colts game. Part of the reason we struggled /w pressure is because Yanda was playing RT and rookie UDFA Hurst was playing LT. However, it is a real concern that Denver has an intimidating pass rush and good secondary (especially Talib for jamming at the line on a blitz). Hopefully our receiving corps can step up--and a say receiving corps because running 2-TE sets may help with the check-downs, especially if we can't establish the running game.

Ravens need to play up against Broncos receiver and Safeties be disciplined. I don't think Manning will push the ball deep often. Talib will be on Smith Sr. so it's will be interesting who steps up for Flacco. Throws to the back and TE will be huge. Contrary to poplar opinion nationally, I like the Ravens in this one.
