[News] Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Broncos

58 posts in this topic

Tis is going to be about as challenging a debut for Trestman and his O as one gets... No real deep threat to utilize Flacco's arm strength - especially in the mile High's thinner air; no proven backup RB behing Forsett - and it would be a murder to leave Forsett out too much in the thin air... It's gonna be a long day for our O... that said, the Mile High Miracle game was a long one, too ;)

Even worse the forecast is calling for it to be between 90-92 degrees at Mile High on game day. :melt:

Perriman may eventually work out, but there were quality CB's when they selected him, and clearly they did not do enough AGAIN this offseason adding enough depth. Arrington by all expert accounts is a nickel or slot back only. Webb, Melvin, A Jackson were all unreliable last year with health. And who knows with Smith. I like their draft as a class, but I hope Perriman is not another Mark Clayton.

Chris canty and Daryl smith were listed on the injury report. Wonder why . It said something like NIR which I'm assuming stands for "non injury related" but it said there status is "probable"

Can you guys just quit about the wasted #1 pick just yet, please! Perriman hasn't played yet, there is nothing to indicate he'll miss a large chunk of the season and getting injured once hasn't made anyone a failure yet. If he gets on the field and is useless, then you can start with doom and gloom, but we haven't played a game yet this season, so just quit it!

I agree that the bust talk is waaay over dramatic. Yet I understand that his slow healing process is frustrating. But my main question is, why isn't he on the field observing and learning like the rest of the injured players? Is it coaches decision or his? Does he have something better to do?? Cause that injury doesn't require rehabbing so he's not working with physiotherapists, that's for sure.

Without Jernigan, I hope the Ravens play a solid enough run defense to keep their RB's under 100 yards rushing but loose enough that Peyton doesn't go Brady with a ton of short passes. Just let them think they have a chance running. Our corners play off the WR's too far to stop the short passes until they have 4 - 7 yards on the completion. I think the key to the game will be pressure on Peyton and turnovers. I'm calling out Z'Darius Smith and Carl Davis to be the key defenders to step up. On offense, Aiken, Campanaro and Brown has to be productive to compliment Triple S and Crockett Gilmore.

Come-on Ravens, shock the world and put this one in the "W" column.

You guys are talking as if jerni has been ruled out. I think there's still a pretty good chance he suits up. We may limit his snaps but it will be nice to have him so we don't put too much pressure on Carl Davis or KLM. Were gonna need to rotate then often because guys tire easily in that thin Denver air.

Amen, Dorota! People complaining about his "slow healing" don't know what they're talking about. Ask Orthopedic Drs. how long it takes to come back from PCL sprains/strains. I'm pretty sure they will tell you 4-6 weeks. People complaining about him not being on the sidelines. Do they have inside knowledge indicating that Perriman is making that decision? I think that the whole problem is that his injury was first reported as a bruise. Anybody who is suggesting that Perriman's pick as a 1st rounder is a BUST are being extremely premature. How can they possibly know that? The man has not played in even ONE game yet. By all reports he looked Great in OTAs, beating every CB that lined up against him. People have to learn to be more patient and give the man a chance to show just what he can do. I can only imagine how he must feel, the pressure he may be putting on himself. I wish everybody would just relax, give the man time to heal and get in game shape, and then see what he can do before calling him a bust or, even, just complaining about his absence. He's a Raven, everybody. Lighten up and give him a chance. I'm still of the belief that he is going to be a legitimate #1 receiver in the NFL, whether it's this year, next, or his third year. Actually I don't think it will take him that long, but remember people, it Does take a bit of time to learn and adjust to the NFL game.

Another wasted number one pick. The guy can't even make it to the first game, let alone prove to the morons who drafted him, that he can catch the ball. Instead of getting defensive help, which we obviously needed last year, here comes this baloney about another wide receiver. They have gone completely insane. Nobody, and I mean nobody, wins without a defense. Ours lost at least 4 regular season games and the playoff to the Parriots, so, what do we do, go out and get a questionable wide receiver. That will show them.

This is a pretty strong post, Fastynart. I can't believe you just called Ozzie, the best GM in the NFL, a moron. And then you state that he's gone insane, All this, just because you disagree with one of Ozzie's 1st rd draft choices? Is it possible that you may have gone a bit overboard here? You know, Perriman is not the first guy drafted in the 1st rd that missed the season's first game. Have you ever heard of a guy named Odell Beckham Jr.? He turned out to be pretty good. Maybe, just maybe, you should give Perriman a chance to show us whether or not he has 1st rd talent before you call Ozzie a moron and an insane man. Just a thought.

fowler jr. Was injured the first day he set foot on the feild before they were even wearing pads. He's out for the year. Kevin white is out for the year. Several other first rounders have been injured as well. They all busts too?

"best GM in NFL" Sorry but looks like New England should have title. Ozzie has two first rounders and a second that can't get on the field. So lets not crown him just yet.

Perhaps you would permit it to be said that he is "one of the best"? I think that title is warranted, not based on what people may perceive this years picks to become, but the way our roster has been managed over 20 extremely successful years.

The post you disagree with was in response to a pretty irrational post, which I'm surprised was left to stand on this board. It has been left hanging for long enough, so I'm letting it stand. Given the nature of what was being responded to, I think we can grant the poster a little license on paying our successful FO that respect.

riiiight. Let's not crown him based on 2 draft picks from a few months ago.

Son he's been doing this for over a decade. And 1 injured first round pick certainly doesn't negate anything. Get the heck outta here with that mess.

Where are the 2013 1st & 2nd draft picks? You have to admitt New England puts players together that beats the Ravens 9 of 12. Granted, Ozzie is above 29 other teams.

nobody can hit on every round. And it's still a little early to tell on Arthur brown. But how bout the 3rd 4th and fifth round picks in 2013? Brandon Williams, juice, Rick Wagner. Nobody hits on players and finds gems in the later rounds better than Ozzie.

Although some extremely knowledgeable and informative post is what keeps me glued to the boards... the lack of patience, snap decisions on players, and negativity of a few members sometimes makes it hard to enjoy. I see Perriman hushing many fans once he gets on the field.

Stopping the run and not allowing the short/dump passes (can't give wrs an 8-10 yard cushion) and how our O-line holds up are my "keys to the game" so to speak. Our defense should get pressure but manning won't be holding the ball long enough most times.

your right about the later rounds and I would not mind if he traded his first for more 2nd and 3rd picks.

while i agree about stopping the run and not giving 8-10 yard cushions on passing plays this is what Pees scheme does so we will see this alot which plays right into Kubiaks system as well as what Peyton LOVES

Let's go Ravens! All this Kubiak talk - I'll just say this: Trestman didn't show anything pre-season but vanilla plays - same applies to the D. Denver will be surprised today - and while Kubiak knows the personnel and schemes - we've made a lot of changes on offense, too. I'm not buying into the Perriman trash talk - the guy will be on the field to stretch defenses in the next week or two. Any pre-judgment on him at this point is ridiculous. He'll get out there. Let's see what he can do.
