[News] Byrne Identity: Sunday Can't Come Fast Enough

26 posts in this topic

Right. I'm nervous as heck knowing the Ravens should win this game but wondering if they will. The only thing that could stop them are turnovers and a lack of execution. They are the better team but they have to cash that in.

The Ravens are the class of the AFC this year. Contenders are KC, SD, Texas, Buffalo and the Colts. NE, Denver, Pitts, and Cincy all miss the playoffs.

The Eagles have the best team in the NFC. They will play GB or Sea to go to the Super Bowl.

In an I-95 Super Bowl I have to give the edge to the Eagles although it will be too close too call.

I'm anxious our safeties and corners in some real action. We have some REAL talent deep and strong. I trust the defense to Shut Down Denver's wideouts. Man, Kevin I really didn't want to think how long it IS 'til kickoff..

I feel differently Kevin. I'm nervous for our schedule. I would've loved to start off at M&T where we traditionally start off strong. Nervous because for one we face a fresh Peyton Manning and second they now have Kubiak running their offense and show. We still run Kube's offense, so don't you think the would know a little about how to stop his own offense? That has been said to be overrated, but I'll believe it when we go there and beat them. I want to win especially because we can strike a road AFC game off the check list and more so because the Steelers couldn't!

Great article as always. It's feels like an eternity since we saw a game that counts. The first game of every season gives the same feeling as cutting your grass for the first time after spring and feeling that smell. All those months of Sunday hibernation will end this week. It's OK to be nervous. If you aren't, then there's no fun in it. Just like a roller-coaster, if you don't scream with fear you ain't having a good time. Buckle up fellow fans... the Ravens will take us on a thrill ride for the next few months.

We'll know who we are by 5:25 pm ET or shortly there after. Manning will go after are entire secondary, not just Webb. He'll go after whoever is the weakest link on every play. Do I like Manning? Not really. Is he the best QB playing the game right now? He's up there. I don't expect Manning to pin our ears back like last time, but I will be surprised if we come out with a win. Just keep it close.

Do not get off the gas saying "we got to run the ball And keep Peyton off the field"! Defenses respect Joe's incredible arm and have to play back leaving GAPEING HOLES but gotta let Joe go for his 40pts a game! Peyton gonna get his pts no doubt but Joe gotta get 40 period point blank! 123 Woooooooooooooo

Manning could torch us for 350 yards and 4 td's and that does NOT mean "oh, we are gonna suck this year".

If we sack him 6 times and pick him off 3 times it does not mean "Oh, our defense is gonna be great this year!"

We been here before. It is the first game. Not a microcosm of a season.

By November we will know what kind of team we are. And I predict a very good one. And guys, Denver in Denver is a tough team to beat but we ain't so bad ourselves and make our reputation based off of what we do on the road when everyone is picking against us.

I would be WAY more nervous if everyone was picking us to win. Expectations for the outlook of a season based on one game, your first game, are almost always unrealistic.

Every week is a different game. It will make us feel better as fans if we keep him in check

We owe Denver some paybacks and since the Squeelers stunk up the joint last night, it sure would be nice to come out of Denver with a win. One Road game off our bucket list!

I'm sure we have something up our sleeves and our Coaching staff will have our guys ready for Peyton.

GO Ravens!

Who we are now isn't as important as who we are going to become. We won't necessarily find out this Sunday. As long as we play well enough through the course of the season to get to the post-season, who we are then is all that will matter.

If I was a coach I would just show the team the highlights from the last time we played them. Really puts a bad taste in your mouth and reminds you why it is personal.

Great piece of article by Kevin Byrne, I was just saying the same thing before I read this. That's that Raven success anxiety. I know we're going to have a great season, don't too much care about the specifics, just as long as January Joe gets a shot at the playoffs. By the way, check out Joe's swag, sort a look elite-ish to me.

I watch football movies every year during off-season and before first game, a great way to relax and pass time. My top football movies -

Remember The Titans - (I still get emotional watching this scene at Gettysburg)

Any Given Sunday - Johnny U and Pacino as opposing head coaches give me goosebumps. "Claw for every inch!"

Radio - Radio is my favorite dude. I would share a burger and fries with him anytime.

We Are Marshall - One of few football movies that would fire me up to tackle someone.

Waterboy - Great comedy for laughs. "Gatorade ... H2O!!!" lol

Rudy - A true football story that will fire you up.

Brian's Song - Warning, a tear jerker even for tough people. Good movie.

Longest Yard with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, enough said. lol

Gridiron Gang - Good movie with Dwayne Johnson

Several other good football movies.

And of course, watching reruns of the Ravens two Super Bowl wins.

I'm in Denver and it seems like NFLN played those 7 Tds over and over all day yesterday.

Most of these comments based on: 'hope'; 'we are Ravens'; any number of reasons given for why 'the Ravens way' will compensate for a seriously flawed team. (like the man said, 'wish in one hand, [profanity deleted] in the other; see which fills up first') Questions - after Smith Sr, where's Flacco going to throw the ball; after Forsett, where's the running game; where is a guy can return the ball; Webb's back, and ain't that a sad thing (Melvin, who should be starting,'doubtful, injured'). . . .

I love the hell out the Ravens y believe in Oz, but y'all want to be a SERIOUSLY GOOD TEAM

1) Gillmore , camp, screens to Forsett, juice and buck. Might utilize Waller somehow up the seam. Maxx Williams. Who knows , marlon might even show up.

2) Magee, Buck Allen, possibly juice.

3)campanaro.

Hope that answers your questions.

Wow lol. the only thing I have against channels like ESPN & NFLN is that they show the same teams over and over. They don't talk about the Ravens nearly half as much as any other team, when they show our highlights they always do a fast skim through them. Even when we win they only show some of our big plays. Let it be the Cowboys or Patriots and they will dedicate a full half hour to them. I understand that they have to go where the money is because teams like the Cowboys have a very large fan base but at the same time it just seems like a biased media.
